I am trying to upload 2 large files to a ftp server by uploading as one file to a location. I have it working if the files are small but it crashes with large files.
For i As Integer = 0 To filelist.Count() - 1
Dim fRequest As FtpWebRequest = WebRequest.Create(ftpPath & "/Reports/" & filelist.Item(i))
fRequest.Credentials = New NetworkCredential(username, psswd)
I would like to upload files using the ASP FileUpload control. However, if I try and increase the limit to about 10000 kB, it doesn't work and accepts files only upto 4 MB in size and I get an error saying that the connection to the server was reset. I referred: [URL]..but when I modified the web.config.comments file, nothing happened. Where am I going wrong?
Also, I wanted to know how this would work when I deploy it on the web server. I'm asking because in the code behind, I'm still giving a hard coded value for the path where the file is to be uploaded. How does this work?
[Code] each file is about 30 kilobytes in size, and they contain raw hardware statistical information in a comma-deliminted format. I want to do the following with these files as my end-result.
NEWFILE.CVS contains the contents in this format:
metric_group_001 metric_group_002 metric_group_003 metric_group_004 etc.
I don't want APPEND, I want to concatenate the contents of these files into one large master file. I am able to do this MANUALLY, but I need to have a DYNAMIC method of doing this because of the number of files will change depending on the test we are doing with the hardware. This is the code I am using to do this process manually and it does work, but I need a DYNAMIC method in place. [Code]
I'm trying to upload a large file (over 50Mb) to my webserver but my app hangs when trying to close the stream. If the file uploaded is larger than 50Mb then the .Close() causes it to hang - no error message at all - however a file less than 50Mb succeeds.
What do you suggest to get around the fstream.Close() hanging my app? Dim target As New Uri(uploadedFilePath) Dim fRequest As System.Net.FtpWebRequest = System.Net.WebRequest.Create(target)
I am trying to upload all files in a folder using the FTP method below... I just can not figure out how to pass the list of files in the folder to the FTP method which works great for single files
vb.net UploadFile(filetoupload, uploadpath, My.Settings.User, My.Settings.Pass) End Sub
[Code]....
with the aim of generating a list of files in the folder and then looping them though the ftp method, currently have a Error1Value of type '1-dimensional array of String' cannot be converted to 'String'. error based on above code
that will upload the favorites folder to a server so you can access your favorites even when your not on your own PC. My problem is that i am having trouble uploading multiple files, I know how to upload a single file via FTP but it seems like it would take way to long to go through every folder and every file would be pretty hard. I would like to use FTP
So i have some source code here what it does is uploads multiple files to ftp in this case files with .jpg extensions the problem im having is how to get the code so that i wont have to use an openfiledialog tool
Imports System.IO Public Class Form1 Dim i As Integer Dim myStream As Stream = Nothing
[Code]...
Im using this code to upload alot of pics onto my ftp server and having to open each file and select all the pics just isnt working. If theres a way to simply grab all the .jpgs in the my pictures folder and upload them that would be a great help
I just started playing with VB, so please excuse my ignorance. I've been trying to find an answer in existing threads, but all the stuff there is very confusing to me.I wonder if somebody could create a complete code for me and paste it in an answer to this post.
Basically, what I need is: In VS 2010 - Windows form.
1. Click a button.
2. Grab all files from specified folder on my computer (different extensions = html, txt, bat and some other).
3. Load all the files to specified folder on FTP server replacing existing files without prompt.
4. Display confirmation if succesful or error message. (a progress bar would be handy, but this isn't crucial).
The folder on my computer is always the same folder The folder on the ftp server is always the same folder[URL]..I need to specify username and password for the FTP server
This should all happen without any input from the user - simply click and message saying 'it is done' once all the files were uploaded.
I am trying to create a program that can upload many files at a time to an FTP site. I don't want to use a dialog box. I want to be able to specify a certain requirement in my code (for ex. all files that begin with "abc_"). I was able to find a lot of code online for uploading a single file, but all the code that I found for mulitiple files were either very lengthy or done by bringing in a new library
I'm working on trying to split a large file from say 3gb to multiple 500mb files with a .1, .2, .3 etc... extension. My output is one 500mb file and one 28kb file. What I'm missing to continue reading the filestream into the 2nd split file.
Sub SplitFiles(ByVal inFile As String, ByVal newFileSizeBytes As Integer) Dim i As Short = 1 Dim fsInput As New System.IO.FileStream(inFile, FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read) Dim fsOutput As System.IO.FileStream Dim bytBuffer(4096) As Byte 'holds a block of bytes for processing [Code] .....
I'm trying to upload multiple XML files to a remote server but I am having problems. My code will upload 1 or 2 files then it will pause for a while then error out saying "The operation has timed out". Here is the code that does the uploading:
Private Sub SendFiles() Dim ediServer As String = "ftpservername" Dim useFile, ediFileName, ediFile As String
[Code]....
Should I be creating a new request object inside a loop for each file like I am?
I wrote a program to download and play AVI files the files are large in size and long time wise. I have the files playing as they are being downloaded but i can't see how long the file is or seek reliably. i was reading that the AVI headers are in the last 512kb of the AVI file *why would't they put it at the start* lol so my question is is there a way to download the last 512Kb of the file i'm downloading. i have the Bytes Read and Length of the file while its downlaoding i'm just not sure where to go from there, or how to do it atleast. If i had the length in time of the Avi file i could set the trackbar to be able to seek properly. or if someone has an idea how i could get the time of the video by using fps and some math i could prob do it that way too but idk how i would tell how i can find how many kb are in the fps i'm sure it changes so think that way is't going to be reliable. how to get the last 512kb would be the best option not sure if it can be done even.
I've set up an asp.net multiple file upload and it works but not in the way I would expect it to.On my page I've got 2 image uploaders like so <input type="file" id="gallery" class="multi" accept="jpg" runat="server" /> <input type="file" id="pic1" accept="jpg" runat="server" />My problem is when I upload it uses this code Dim hfc As HttpFileCollection = Request.Files To get all the files which were posted but I only want gallery images for this specific method.
I'm having problems sending multiple files via HttpWebRequest. I tried various ways on the basis of the code below, but always manage to send only 1 file at a time.[code]...
I have a client app written in vb.net 2010 which communicates with my auth server via php scripts. I had found and used code previously that uploaded a single file to my server. I'm now trying to convert the headers and code to make it upload multiple files in a single query. The first code block will be the original code by the original author (from a different site), and the second code block will be my current nonfunctional code.
I'm about 99.9% sure the problem is with the header which is being submitted to the server.
Dim filepath As String = IO.Path.Combine(Application.StartupPath, "filename.ext") Dim url As String = "http://www.FAKESITE.com/php/Upload/index.php" Dim boundary As String = IO.Path.GetRandomFileName
I have a large file (2.7GB). I need to split it into smaller files. How to split a large file into smaller files using VB.NET 2003? Cannot use LINQ and the resources (cpu and memory) on operating environment are very limited (it is a shared hosting environment).
I am using zipforge.net to archive files in a small backup program I am creating. Everything works fine however if I try to archive a large number of files the process of zipping them gets slower the further along in the job it gets.
Example: I have a directory that contains a little over 100,000 files in it. Each file is only about 200k of text. When I use the zipforge zip class it starts zip'ing very quickly but as it gets about 40% of the way through the directory it starts to slow down... at about 60% its working at a snails pace.
Memory usage for my solution also goes up proportionate to the archive file size as it grows. Currently it takes around 26hours to backup this directory which only contains 4 gigs worth of information.
If I use a program like winzip I can zip the folder in less than an hour. I am thinking there has to be a way to write to the end of the zip file without having to open it every time or without keeping it open. My backup software scans the specified folder and writes each file path and name into a text file. Then it reads the text file line by line and passes the path + file info to the zipforge addfile().
I'm fairly new to VB.NET, and I'm working on a text editor with a tabbed interface. I deal with large text files. Should I have each tab / text document open up in a new thread or a process? I basically want the entire application to always run fast as the text editor is just one part of it. If I have several large text files open I don't want the rest of the application slowing down a bit.
I wrote a cleanup program to go through some directories and delete files based on if the creation date is older than say 6 months. It works fine with some of the directories I have that contain around a few thousand small files. However, there is one directory (that contains small backup files from another program) that is loaded with over 300,000 files and it locks up on me as soon as I read in the first file in that directory.I am convinced it is the directory has too many files in it to open it. The server that the directory is on is slow. It takes a half hour to open the directory while on the server itself. I know it will take forever to delete the amount of files I want to delete, but I don't understand why it gets stuck and hangs there with no error message. Here is where I get stuck. Listbox1 is the directory I'm attempting to access
For Each selectFile In My.Computer.FileSystem.GetFiles(ListBox1.Items.Item(Count), FileIO.SearchOption.SearchTopLevelOnly, "*.*") compFile = Path.GetFileName(selectFile)
I want to create a form where the user can upload as many images as they like with the input areas being dynamically generated. I can't use Ajax for this I need to use ASP.NET controls and the images are being written to a database. Any ASP.NET control that can accomplish this? Here is my code for the dynamic form, its Javascript and its not passing the "PictureSmallLink" value back...and their in lies my problem.
I'm using "My.Computer.FileSystem.CopyDirectory(...)" to copy large directories (30-50gb) from one mapped share folder to another. Using "FileInfo.length" to add up all file and subfolder sizes, determines the 'origin directory' size just fine. However, if I use the same method for determining the size of the 'destination directory', mid copy, it returns the full file size, despite the copy not yet being complete.I'm at a loss as to why, as this method works fine in testing, going from a local PC t
Private Function FolderSize(ByVal dir As String) As Long Dim Size As Long = 0 Dim d As New DirectoryInfo(dir)
I am trying to develop an app that will export a large amount of zip files all of which have the same single file in them - simply named 'dw' (with no extension). They will all be in the same directory. I want the file 'dw' to be renamed to the zip file name + .tif. (I will actually eventually need for this to use the magic number to determine if the file is a .tif or a .rtf.) I have been able to get it to cycle through, if the file is NOT renamed. I seem to run into issues when I want the file renamed. It just creates the first .tif file and thats it. I think its actually just cycling through but everything is getting that same name. For the record i am not a programmer by trade, just trying to help with something at work - thus I know the code I have peiced together probably isn't 'by the book'
Dim p As New ProcessStartInfo(ByVal unzipit As String, ByVal zipdir As String, ByVal arg As String, ByVal arg2 As String) Dim di As System.IO.DirectoryInfo di = New System.IO.DirectoryInfo(zipdir) For Each diar In di.GetFiles()
I am pretty new at VB but am trying to design an application that will allow a user to select from files on his or her PC, hit a '>>' button, and those files will appear in a list on the right side of the button (so I can then have the application upload those files via ftp). I am planning to use a TreeView control to act as a file explorer in the application. I have been unable to find any resources on the internet to populate the tree view with the user's local file structure, and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction.
I am wanting to create a large amount of files all copied from a single original file. I then have a list of names in a listbox that each of of these files will rename to. However I am getting an error saying that the file already exists in the save location even though the files are saving to a totally different folder...
code below.
Dim Counter As Integer = listFileNames.Items.Count Do Until Counter = 0 System.IO.File.Move(txtOpen.Text, txtSave.Text)
I know this is out there and probably illogical but I was wondering if it was possible to take multiple picture files and compact them into one file.... and then retrieve them from the program later? Way to combine any amount of image files into one file
Module Module1 Sub combine() Dim img1 As New Bitmap("i1.jpg")
I wrote windows app to upload files to different FTP sites by picking the files from different folders.A log is displayed by appending text to the textbox at every step.Textbox is ReadOnly.
Issue:When app is loading a bf file to FTP and if user tries to scroll the textbox, the form is hanging and going to Not Responding.?
i have this code, how do i incorporate a progress bar into it? Private Sub btn_upload_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btn_upload.Click
I'm trying to copy multiple excel source files into one excel file. My current code is working only for 3 source files..If more than 3 files are there, it doesn't copy the data but creates blank work sheet in the output excel file. Lets say I have a source folder with 5 excel files. Each workbook contains one worksheet with data. It copies upto 3 worksheets along with data into output excel file.
Lets say excel1 contains A as work sheet, excel2 contains B as work sheet ,excel3 contains C as work sheet ,excel4 contains D as work sheet ,excel5 contains E as work sheet .Now my output excel file should look like..OutputExcel with A, B, C, D, E along with respective data. But my current code is giving output as A,B,C worksheets along with respective data but its creating blank sheet1,sheet2 in place of D & E.
