Calling Asp.net Function Within Web Application?

Oct 26, 2011

Is it possible to call a function within an asp.net web application from outside that application e.g. with VB.net? If so it would be great to see a hello world type example.

For arguments sake lets say I have my function "helloworld" in a class file within web application: [URL]

My ultimate goal is to enable some reliable / robust scheduling of functions within asp.net. I have read multiple examples about using web services / custom services running on the server etc but I don't really get the implementation.

Create A License Key Function For Application?

Apr 24, 2010

For example I want in this key to contact 2 values: registered_to, expiry_date.

I want the licence key to be some sort of large string like: 2349ASDGKLASD87ASDGALSDK8ASD80972K.

I would need to create some way to create keys use some sort of algorhithm that decrypts the key and grabs the registered_to and expiry_date values. It also needs to check that the key string has some sort of check digit like credit cards have, so no-one can just type in a few random letters/numbers and it accepts.

Use Return Value Of A VBScript Function Into Application?

Aug 23, 2010

I'm developping an ASP.NET application, and I need to use an old VBScript file that would be really hard to translate into pure VB in a VB function.

This VBScript is supposed to return an array that I'd like to use it in the VB function that called it.

How could I call the VBScript function in my VB application and use the value it returned?

I've search how to do so through many forum and FAQ, but it seems that these results where mainly focused on old version of the .NET framework.[code]...

Call A Function Connected Through The Implementing Application?

Aug 31, 2010

I've decided to make my own simple scripting language parser. I've created about 50% of it and it works great! I need to implement "functions". What ever program uses my parser needs to be able to connect functions to my parser for customization. I've implemented "Lua", a scripting language, in a vb.net application of mine. To connect functions to the Lua Parser it used reflections.I need to be able to (by only knowing the name of the function and its structure) call a function connected through the implementing application.

Calling A Function That's In A Module In External Application

May 25, 2012

I have an application (app.exe) that has a VB Module in its source code (Module1). The module has a function called Function1. I need to call this function from another application. The module is not marked as public, so adding a reference to app.exe won't work. I'm trying to use reflection (Assembly.LoadFrom()) but unless I'm way off base, the module would have to be a class in order for me to get an instance of it.

Please nobody ask me "what have you tried?" I tried a million different things and let's just say "none of them work." So I'm looking for someone that has specific experience with doing exactly what I'm trying to do. If you don't have that experience, please move on to the next question and ignore mine.

Calling Javascript Function From Within Desktop Application?

I'm trying to do something which i am not sure is possible, im hoping someone will be able to prove me wrong.I have a desktop application written in VB .net which needs to post to google analytics, the interface they provide is javascript based. At the moment my application opens an internet browser, goes to a specified URL which in turn executes the javascript contained within, this is cludgey and memory gobling!

Is there any way of importing a javascript file and calling a javascript function without opening a third party browser? would preferably not want to use the browser control either. Is there a way of instantiating for instance a javascript engine and passing it the commands?

Get The Vb Random Function - Basic Winapp Application

Code:
Public Class Form1

Public Function RollDize(ByVal iDize As Integer) As Integer

Dim iRes As Integer

[CODE]...

Now, if you click the button, you will see that all the labels get the same number. However, if you step through the code in debug, the numbers are random.

Strategy For Developing A Multi Function Asp.net Web Application?

Mar 4, 2010

I'm about to start a new project and want some advice on how to implement.I need a web application which contains a booking module for reserving timeslots, and a time management module which will enable employees to clock in / clock out.

If I am writing an update to the time managment module, I don't want to disrupt the booking engine availability by releasing a new solution containing both modules.to make things more difficult, there is some shared functionality like common users, roles and security. Here's a suggestion I've gotten, which sounds a bit cruddy, but may be functional.Write a 'container' web application which consists of basically a frame, and authentication / security features. This then has links which, will load the 2 independantly built and released web applications into the frame.I can see that say, if I wanted to update the time management module,

Trigger A Function In Form-application From A Service

Feb 27, 2012

For a small project I need the possibility to "trigger" a function in a Window-form-application from a Service. So there are 2 program's. One is the visible Form application with textboxes and buttons and so on... The other is a sort of service program that runs on the Windows Service account.

Actually the second program is a command-line tool that gets fired by a PHP script from the Apache server. Because the command-line tool runs in another "environment" then the Windows-form-App, it is NOT possible to communicate (trigger) with both apps.

I know I have to use IPC (InterProcess Communication) and I have download the dozens of sample apps, but I still can't get it to work.

PLEASE can someone give me some sample code, or perhaps sample program(s) to help me out?

I think it's really easy to build what I want, but for me it's a no-go :-(

So for example it has to work like this:

PHP script (running at Apache server) runs a "console/service" app (already working) which "triggers" (via IPC) a already running Windows-Form-app (also already working app) that for example shows a MsgBox with the text in it that is sended by the "console/service" app.

Application, using A Function To Determine And Return The Letter Grade?

Jun 3, 2011

I have been struggling with my programming class from day one. I still can't seem to grasp the complete logic on how to write code. Anyhow, I have an assignment due that I am stuck on. Here is the assignment:

In this exercise, you code an application that displays a letter grade based on the average of three test scores. Open the Grade Solution (Grade Solution.sln) file, which is contained in the ClearlyVB Chapl8Grade Solution folder. Code the application, using a function to determine and return the letter grade. If the average is at least 90, the grade is A. If the average is at least 80 but less than 90, the grade is B.If the average is at least 70 but less than 80, the grade is C. Tf the average is at least
60 but less than 70, the grade is D. If the average is below 60, the grade is F.

You will be developing the code for the function on your own. Below the Public Class frmMain line, insert this function header:Private Function CalculateGrade(ByVal testScore1 As Decimal, ByVal testScore2 As Decimal, ByVal testscore3 As Decimal) As String

In the function, declare variables for the average score and the letter grade. Calculate the average, use IF/Elself statements to determine the letter grade, and return the letter grade. Create a subprocedure for the Click event for the btnDisplay button. It should call the CalculateGrade function with three arguments ( the three test scores from the text boxes), and display the returned value in the lblGrade box.

[Code]...
