I would like to add a window preview function (live or not) to my application. Something like the mouse-over on the vista/7 taskbar. the only thing I have is the hWND to the program's main window.

The below code is what I used for a click event, which generates the info I want to see(I know a live preview would make a display button redundant, but our teacher requested both). If anyone can just tell me the proper terminology,

The preview on my program doesn't show how I would like it to, sometimes it's blank or not big enough for the whole screen, and other things.
I have 3 forms, one is of controls, one is a full transparent form that is just the outside edges with a blank middle, and one of is the background. Reason for this is setting background transparency, and the transparency(opacity) of the top bar of the form, so it will be transparent like vista is normally in xp.
I want it to show always the full form live view on the preview and I am not getting it to work with my 3 form as one form type program, but it works as expected with one form only, but I don't want this because I want individually set transparencies.

View 4 RepliesI have a form1 that logs in the user to my hotmail/live email sender. In form1 I have 2 textboxes. First ask for email address for live/hotmail and the other ask for the password. Then it takes you to form2 (email sender). My problem is if the user enters a wrong password or email the program still takes them to form2... hence the program wont work if they try to send an email.. Is there a way I can verify if at form1 that the email and password is correct before it moves on the form2?

I need to be able to test if the current view is print preview in Excel 2003.
Is there something in the excel object model to simply access this property? (Like the application.printpreview in the Word object model...).
PS: Long story short, I'm developing a vsto addin with keyboard short-cuts to my custom functions, and I need to disable this shortcuts when print preview is on.

View 7 RepliesWith my application i call an external commandline tool that converse iso's to other fileformats. Right now i just call the iso converter and it will run in the background, when you would run the iso converter via commandline you see what it is doing, but in my application it just runs in the background.
Right now it only gives me the status after the isoconverter is done in a textbox, how could i change this so i can see live status? like i would see in the command line tool?

I am creating a window that is a generic keypad for editing numerical values on a touchscreen. I would like to press an 'edit' button to create a copy of the keypad window/bring up a reusable version of the same window (I don't care), but pass in parameters: the old value I'm manipulating, and a title to be displayed above the number pad. I would like the user to be able to type in the new value, then press the 'done' key to submit this value and have it sent back to the main application window into my custom control that contains a text box.(I have the number pad's layout sorted out already; I'm already using a variation on it to set a global password 'access level'. It's getting the information in and out that has me scratching my head.) [code]

Can I Post a Windows Application that uses Excel for live data calculations? Basically from the Windows app, a user makes a menu selection and which in turn opens an excel file in memory using it for calculations. These files are put together by different groups and formatted for the Windows app to build interfaces based on each file.I also accompany an .mdf file as well. Is all this possible for customers to access and run this with Windows Azure.

Being the noob I am it took me about 6 hours to figure out how xml works and to write some code for what i need to do.

That code works fine.Now when i add another column to the datagridview called "update size" i want to know how to add the grabbed data from another sub i made to the new column.What would the code be for adding the strings for the new sub into the seconds column? the first was, DataGridView1.Rows.Add(str)" . So what would the second be ?Also another question i have is how do i put an image in an imagecolumn by a web link, not a local picture.

My problem is retrieving the current active form (or application), when my application is started up. Every search seems to return old and rather complex solutions using Win32 library functions, but I was kinda hoping, that .Net allowed for a neater and more simple solution.I need a code example or link on how to retrieve the currently active application window from another application just starting up.

This code is apllicable for windows but when I run this into Window CE 5.0 in a handhaled scanner/mobile computer it wont run. windows are using "Kernel32" how about in window CE 5.0? The error appeared is " Can't Find pinVoked DLL 'Kernel32'.

View 1 RepliesI have to write an application that consists of mainly one main form, but several different things I wanna display. Pretty standard I guess. So there is a menu, some controls, and the main stuff below (ranging form graphs, tables, dropdown boxes, print preview, etc). I would like to use it like one would use frames in html, design an object that is limited to a box or panel that I define. The literature I have does not give me a clear idea of how to do this (yet). The most obvious seem to be the use of MDI, open a predefined form with no borders, maximize it before showing and remove all minimize/maximize options. But that does not work so well. The form inside the MDI parent does not fit the size that is given for it when it is loaded. e.g.

So my main question is: Is MDI the way to go here at all or are there better/easyer ways to achieve this? If MDI is the way to go, how do I sucessfully restrict a child form inside another object, without giving the user any opportunity to resize (i noticed that I have minnimize/maximize/close buttons, even if I disable them on the child forms themselves)
