I am trying to make a hospital form where the user inputs data for a hospital bill. I have to create three functions: CalcStayCharges, CalcMiscCharges, and CalcTotalCharges. I do not know why this code won't work.
Probably another crazy question here, I have my rc car able to move by inputs I make to the keyboard of my laptop, is there a way for my vb code to record those inputs so that I can push a button and it will recreate my inputs?
View 24 RepliesI have three different textboxes on my form. What I am trying to do is send the inputs the user puts into the text boxes in an email. I have the email working but all the text is run together. I would like to have the inputs from the different textboxes to be on separate lines.

I'm trying to create a User form that has six inputs.
1.) User input textbox 5.00 to 60.0 inches only accepted.
2.) User input textbox 2.50 to 30.0 inches only accepted.
3.) User input textbox 6, 8, & 10 nominal input only accepted.
4.) User input textbox 60% or 65% only accepted.
5.) User input textbox 2.50 to 30.0 inches only.
6.) User input textbox where 500 shows up in the box as "standard" but can be changed by user input.
Then an "OK & Cancel" button. I don't know whether to use a dialog box or a form, what class, masked text box vs. not masked, etc.
working with Adobe .pdf files. I have an Adobe .pdf template that allows the user to enter text into different parts of the .pdf template (such as name, address, etc.) I have been developing a VB.Net program that is made up of a set of user forms. I would like to be able to have data that the user enters into textboxes on the VB.Net user forms write to specific areas of the Adobe .pdf template on the click of a command button. I have searched MSDN and Google but I have been unable to find any information on this particular task. If it is can you recommend a MSDN type article or any articles/books/message board posts that provide guidance on how to proceed with something like this.

i have created a simple form which takes some input from the user. Now, I want that the input should be saved to my harddisk and can be seen later as well. Can you please tell me how to save the inputs as a record on my harddisk.
I mean the first time the form appears, it has four options. All the four options will be a record. The next time the form is re-loaded, then the same four fields will have data for someother client. It should be saved as another user.
I am building a program where all the inputs (10) required from the user are asked on one form. Since it is not possible to let fields blank on the database, I would like to know how can I build an 'IF' saying that if all fields are full, then the database CAN save all the input. So that if there are any field blank, it won't save. I just dont know how to do the database condition. Thats all.

Her code is to save the form size at runtime but i would like to modify it to save the buttons which i have dragged and drop. I tried to modify the code but i tend to when i put the Dim theButton = DirectCast(sender, Button) under the form load method. It put there cannot cast object. something like that.

Is it possible to have a Textbox on a form that when the user inputs data, ( during Runtime )that data remains in the Textbox for good and the Textbox then becomes read only ? Is it also possible to make it so that the CD with the programme on, is in the PC when the programme is being used. Perhaps writing the Textbox data back onto the CD ?

I realize this post is rather long, but I wanted to give all the information up front instead of people having to ask me for more information.At the end of the re-installation of Visual Studio 2008, there is this message:

I have searched on Google for this whole message and found some references to this error, but I have done what they said worked for them and it did not fix the problem for me.When I searched for just "MSI returned error code 1638", I got that it cannot install something because it is already installed:"Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue. To configure or remove the existing version of this product, use Add/Remove Programs on the Control Panel".In Add/Remove Programs I see these two programs:

Are these programs/versions what the error is refering to? i dont know how to assign variables and im juist totally lost right now and this is due today and i was sick 2 weeks and am 2 chapters back.
I am developing an FTP program which: Watches a folder. If a new file is dropped there then upload it. Tells user if uploading and when complete. All the above works, however I wan to add the items to a listbox that are being uploaded. So if I dropped 3 items there it would look like :
Upload Listbox:

woot.docxAnd as each one is done, or new files are added it removes them or adds them.
I tried using que, but with no luck as the program just hangs whilst it uploads. So I had a search and looked into multithreading and I tried to implement it, but I can't get it to work as it gives me some 'delegate signature' related error message as you can't pass in values when trying to use 'AddressOf'.

I have never worked with threads so maybe I'm doing something wrong but when I try to make a new thread, the description for the second argument (StackSize) says that if I use a stacksize bigger than the default one, this argument will be ignored and the default size will be used. How to increase the stacksize? Or how to create a thread with a bigger size than the default one?
