View 2 RepliesI have a logitech webcam that I use to take pictures of customers to submit to a server/database. Utilizing AVICAP32.DLL calls, I was able to modify my VB.NET program to take these pictures via a button in my program.
My question is, it would me more convenient to my intended users to click the webcam button, instead of clicking on the button in my program.
Is this possible to do in VB.NET? and how can I do this?
If this is not possible to do with my logitech webcam than is there a Microsoft Webcam that can do this?
I have so far written a program where you click a button and a custom control is added to the form. These controls can then be dragged and positioned anywhere on the form.I know want to be able to align/snap these controls.Please advise if you know of a way to drag a control on a form and snap it in line with another control?
View 1 Repliesi want to snap or dock two forms together and have them move as one. i tried to download SandDock but i can't get it to work.
View 2 Repliesim looking for a free version of the following [URL] and wondered if anyone knew of anything that existed something that you can drag and snap panels in to other panels then save the layout of these panels preferably to a database. If they is no free versions anyone can think of (i have looked and cannot find anything :/ ) how easy would it be to program such a Ajax or asp control?

View 11 RepliesOkay, what I want to do is snap a movable panel to the form, like create a virtual grid kind of thing. The panels can be moved with the mouse and stop moving once the left mouse key is released.For the movable panel I have used a Class, it creates an object called NewComp in the toolbox.
Public Class NewComp
Inherits Panel
Public Sub New()

It seems that the autosize columns will only make them bigger. For example, if I have a DGV that fills most of the form and then only three small columns are loaded, there is a whole bunch of darkgrey empty space. Is there any way to snap the side of the DGV to the actual data?

View 6 Repliestried to dissable the Snap to Grid feature from the "Tools" menu "Options" under the category "Windows form Designer "General" with out any luck, every time I tried to postion any of my controls on the form, I still see the blue and pink alignment lines and I can not align them where I would like to postion my controls on the form, any one can shed some light on this feature or could it be a bug?
View 1 RepliesI installed VS2008 and just VS2010, both allow me to freely move objects around in the HTML Design View.However, I would like to be able to snap the objects in alignment.It is hard to space text boxes and buttons when everything is free flowing.
View 2 RepliesLong time since I was active on this forum, but I recently picked up VB.NET again. I'm working with VS 2010 Express now, and I want to create a little app that resides on the side of my screen (about 40px wide), to collect data.
I've seen this program, Trillian, 'docking' to the right side of my screen, thereby making the maximized size of all windows just as much as the space left of the application window. In other words, even if I maximize other programs, the Trillian application stays visible at all times, on the right side of my screen.
Now I was wondering, is there any similar effect possible with VB.NET?
I have multiple forms within a form, typically up to 16, and I want these "inside" forms to snap all edges between eachother or the parent form edges, when a form is resized or moved, and edge comes within x pixels of any other edge.How should I approach this? What I can think of is to raise an event on the form that is moved/resized which calls a parent form handler method that loops through all the forms, check the edges and then keeps fixing (repositioning) the active form if any of its edges is close to any other form edge
View 3 RepliesI have started to work some more on my 'shape editor'. If you're not familiar with it,ust imagine the Visual Studio form designer: a 'canvas' (the form) with a bunch of 'shapes' (the controls) that can be selected, moved, resized, etc. I have just finished implementing snapping between shapes and the canvas boundaries. But now I am having some slight issues with painting the snap lines.Just FYI: this is what I mean by snap lines:The blue lines that indicate that the 'buttons' are snapped to each other, and a purple line indicating that button1 is snapped to the boundary.
My shape editor is based loosely on jmcilhinney's 'manipulating GDI+ drawings' codebank entry, and a central idea in that post is to only draw what is necessary. In other words, when I move a shape I could re-draw the entire canvas, but it is much faster and smoother to only re-draw the old and the new location of the shape. Since nothing else has changed, I don't need to draw the rest. So, I simply invalidate the old bounds and the new bounds, and even with a lot of shapes all moving simultaneously it still feels very smooth.
I have 3 PictureBoxes on a form that are tiled on top of each other. the form has a minimum vaule of (502, 416) and a maximum of (502, 1080). because the user can select from a MenuStrip to display '1', '2' 0r '3' PictureBoxes at once '3' being the bottom and '1' being the top PictureBox. What i need is when the user drags down the form it snaps to the next PictureBoxes position, so it goes down in blocks this is what i have so far which is pretty far from working.
If Me.Height <= (1079) Then
Me.Height = (732)
ElseIf Me.Height <= (732) Then
Me.Height = (424)
ElseIf
End If
I also thought i might be able to figure it out if i new how to create a variable like this
If Me.Height <= (1079 to 733) Then
Me.Height = (732)
I know that it isn't the correct syntax but it's kind of the idea If you can make sense from my not so good description and point me in the right direction/code example i will be most grateful :)
I am creating a program that will allow you to sketch out a house-floor-plan... I am using Snap-To-Grid code. The snap to grid works fine but i need a label that appears in the middle of the lines that are being drawn that represents the length of the line in feet. This will be saved as a bitmap image, so i need the length to stay visible after the lines are drawn. I have found code for a "symbiote-line", but it displays the text in a caption and the caption dissappears as soon as a line is drawn. I need the text to still be visible after the mouse-up event is fired. This is similar to the way i need the line to look.

i want to snap one forms edge to another when within 10pixels of each-other.
I did try a little with LocationChanged event, but i couldn't get this to respind in the way i wanted.
Ideally i want to snap a second form to the rightmost edge of my first form.
I want to capture a still picture in any format like .png,.jpg,.bmp etc. using a webcam.And want to save that in directory.

View 1 RepliesI use VS2008 with Visual Basic and VB.Net. I am writing an application to save videos from a webcam, and I've found several examples that provide the basic functionality, so that I can now start and stop the webcam, and save a video as a .avi file. However my interface is still clunky: when video capture starts following
SendMessage(hWnd, WM_CAP_SEQUENCE, 0, 0)
then the window is locked and the [Stop Capture] button doesn't function, so I need to exit the window to stop capture.The documentation at Video Capture [URL] has a lot of methods that look useful, and I think that I need to link up a callback function to allow [Stop Capture] to function, but I can't figure out from this documentation how to send a WM_CAP_SET_CALLBACK_VIDEOSTREAM message to do this. I don't know how to control the formats so that I generate video files that are concise enough for web use - changing the frame rate or dimensions seems to have absolutely no effect Is there any general tutorial that will cover all of the messages in AVICAP32.dll, and show me how to implement them in VB?
I'm trying to take a picture from my webcam when the user clicks a button on a Form on a Windows XP Machine.
I tried going through several threads, but couldn't find the solution I was looking for. Most of the threads involved matters (and code) too complex for my requirements, or had bugs when I reproduced the code in my editor window which I was unable to resolve due to my lack of knowledge in I/O related programming.
So far the simplest solution I could find was this one:[URl]...but after using his solution in my editor, it says 'type WIA is not defined', despite adding a reference to Microsoft Windows Image Acquisition 1.01 Type Library.
how to use webcam in a form in vb.net, pls provide me the sufficient information
View 1 RepliesI wrote some software that use the AVICAP32.dll to do a spot of video capture.All was going well till they went and bought a laptop with a built in webcam.Now my software picks one a random and uses that for the video (somewhat annoying to say the least) Can anyone tell me how to pick a camera to use,I suspect it is related to DVM_DIALOG but my experiments have not been too successful.

I jus tneed to capture an image from the WebCam, rest all processing of the would be handled by my .NET code.
I am playing around with using a webcam in a program to have the program automatically target key things within the webcams frame. I was just wondering how I would go about getting the webcam to be "used" within the program.
