I am trying to find out how to get a particular control.In some applications i've seen they have this little control like a small text box.It has 2 little buttons on the size one for up and one for down.
These buttons change the displayed numbers higher and lower.Here, let me show you a picture:

I want to make a form to schedule the on and off time of equipment. & rows for seven days. 96 columns for 24 hours divided by 15 minutes. Each cell will be red for on and green for off. Click the cell to toggle the color. I know what I want it to look like. But I dont think using 500 buttons is a good idea. I am looking for better ideas on which direction to go. So now I will try to make something more complex, still playing around with this graphics thing.I want a picturebox to display a tileset (a bunch of 32x32 tiles normally used for creating game levels etc), the picturebox is inside a container (which has autoscroll ON). The picturebox is larger than the container, so the container will make scrollbars automatically.Now, I need to be able to choose a tile or multiple tiles (if I click & drag the mouse)Basically I want to draw a 32x32 "red" box over each selected tile (so the user knows what tiles are selected).So first of all, I need to know when the mouse clicks the picture. Good. It works.Now, I need to know which 32x32 tile was clicked. Well, I think I can calculate that just fine.BUT, what if the user drags the mouse while clicking on a tile? I want to support multiple tiles selected, but I am clueless about tracking what tiles were chosen.If we solve that problem, I would have another curiosity: You know the "red boxes" that tell you which tiles are selected? What would happen if I dragged the scroll bar? I need the redboxes to move along with the picture, and hide if they go to an invisible area.

My goal is to just select the 2nd one, the <span> tag and am not sure why <p> tag is also being selected. If it selects <p>, but why wouldn't it also select the <strong> or <a>, and why not the <table> or <td> that contain the <p>?
i'm creating a program called Workshop Selector. It has 3 list boxes, one with the 5 workshops, second with 6 locations, and the final is the list of costs. The user selects a workshop, a location, then hits the Add Workshop button, which calculates the costs and adds the cost to the third listbox. Soo, to my question.
There is an additional button called Calculate Total that adds the values of the costs in the cost listbox and displays the total in a textbox. The code i currently have that works just fine is --

While this works, i have no idea of knowing how many times the user will add a cost to the cost listbox. therefore id have to make many many variables, and other issues occur.So is there a way i can do this with a for loop? declare a global variable like

then at the end of the add workshop cost btn click procedure use:
costcounter = costcounter + 1
That way i kno the exact amount of times the person added a cost?
Then create a for loop like

Would this work somehow? but what code would i have to input within the for loop to scan each selected index, and then return values that can be added together and displayed in a textbox?
I need to create a few visual controls to reside on my form.
1- Rotary Selector to rotate and select an option. (maybe up to 16 steps per rotation or 0 to 15.)
2- Rotary dial to act like a volume control. This actually selects a value between 0 to 255 or 0 to 1023. (is this too many steps?)
3- Bunch of selector push buttons to act like the old car radio selector? (pushing one resets the other buttons. Just like old car radios?)
I'd like to create code for my datagrid view to be able to delete a row by first clicking the record selector column then pressing delete. Seems like some standard stuff but really difficult to create in VB 2005.
View 10 RepliesMy company uses control numbers to keep track of all of our inventory for every product that is entered into our warehouse.(ex.G123456789, T987654321) 1st Alphabet followed by 9 digits of numbers.Most of the time, these control numbers are scanned into the system by using a barcode scanner but some times these control number are entered into the system manually by hand.People make mistakes and sometimes enter in different control number.i want to be able to code my vb so that when the control number does not meet the critarion then program displays an error message.So i want to check for the first character which needs to be an alphabet and characters 2-10 to be a number.
View 4 RepliesI've written a piece of code that takes 3 fields from a database and writes out the 3 added together, but with the middle field cropped down, so that the total number of characters is always 28, what I thought was the width of my listbox. I realised when I debugged though, that the listbox was docked and grew or shrank depending on the size of the screen.
Is there a way to determine how many fixed width characters will fit in a control, at run time?

Assume the ListView1.Width is "30", then each column should be in event width of 10. Furthermore thereshould only be three columns becuase i have added only three columns. However, when i resize teh form, the listview controls shows an additional column.
How this was added? How do i fix this, so that when i add 3 columns it will have only three columns even when resized the form or not
I am using datatable.comput to calculate the avg of a data column. The data column's datatype = integer, so it returns a integer avg value as well. Can i make it to return double value?
View 3 RepliesI'm using an open source ribbon control that does not have click events for controls such as tabs, panels, etc.When I looked at the properties of the ribbon it does have the tabs, panels, etc. all in collections.I would like to change this (0) code so that I can get the index number of the control that the user clicks on. The tabs on this control are not like the regular tabs that come with Visual Studio. "Tabs" is a collection of Ribbon1.

I have a problem with a sql query. Through the query I am trying to search database for any occurrences of string (can be anything) in a column using the SQL LIKE command. The problem is that it works fine for most of the strings say john, jim, ji"m , but does not work when i include the following characters which are ( ' , { , } , and a single quotation mark). MYSQL query takes care of these special cases by putting them in [] block whenever user enters them .But i am getting the following error when i go to query the database using the GetSelectCommand() in VB.NET

I am trying to filter a dataset using a number different inputs, selected by a number of check boxes. I have all the text base rowfilters working, but I can not make the date filter work unless I hard code the datetime into the code. The database is MS Access and I am using VB2008 to show the data. I would like to be able to use a DateTimePicker to set the filter date (without the time part) Also I would need to remove the time section of the datEnterDate. I cannot change the structure of the database fields. Also the datEnterDate is MM/dd/yyyy, because I'm in England I would like to use the format of dd/MM/yyyy if possible

I am attempting to create a game in Visual Studio 2008 that allows a user 10 attempts to guess a random number between 1 and 50. I have a label box in which I would like to display the remaining guesses as they decrement. The code so far appears below.
My two (I am sure very basic) questions are:
1. How would I pass the random integer generated through the Generate Integer function to the AmIRight button's click function? I was trying to decrement the counter each time the "Am I Right " button is pressed.
2. I would also like to evaluate each "guess" when the "Am I right button is pressed. Is it possible to nest a Select Case statement in a For Next Loop?

i wanted to create a random number generator that iterates through a series of number between an upper and lower bound. say between 1 and 100. Basically I want the number generator to pick the numbers randomly and then display them until all 100 numbers are picked without any duplicates. so thats easy I can code that. But what I don't know is how to show those numbers in the order they are generated on a windows form. So i have basically a variable that I will let be changed 100 times (or however many times I want, I don't want their to be a size constraint just using 100 as an example) and each time the number is generated I want it displayed on screen (in a list or something not sure what. Hopefully some type of scrollable list) and each successive number also to be displayed in same format beneath it so that I can see the list in its entirety. What type of form control do i use for that? I could do messagebox.show for each iteration but then user is required to hit ok after each iteration and that would obviously be a bad idea if user selected a large number to work through. Anyways, code isn't exactly necessary just point me in the right direction, i.e.what control (if any) to use.how to format the change in data?

I am trying to make a basic ATM system, iv got all the interface done and I have made the link to my SQL database etc. the part i'm stuck on is how I can run a check to see if a bank card number matches up to the users PIN number. To simulate the user putting a card into the machine I've used a combo box, and that lists all the cards, that haven't been flagged as confiscated (there's a column in my ATMCards table that I can set to true or false) then after the user has selected a relevant card there's another text box where they can enter in their PIN number.
Now what I want to do is, if they chose the card number 1234567890123456 in the combo box and they enter in the PIN 1234 into the text box, then, after clicking the check PIN Button if the pin is correct they need to be taken to another from where they can check their balance etc., and if its wrong they got three attempts after which point i want to flag that card as confiscated.
