I have an application and in this application there is a search option. I want the seach to search for all music and video files. I keep getting UnauthorizedAccessException error and I'm assuming its because my application is trying to access a file for witch access is being denied. This is the code that I am using.tbsearch is textbox and results is the listbox that the search results get added to.
Dim dirPath As DirectoryInfo = New DirectoryInfo("G:") For Each file As FileInfo In dirPath.GetFiles (tbsearch.Text & "*.mp3", SearchOption.AllDirectories) results.Items.Add(file.FullName) Next
Also, how can't I make it so that only the name of the file found is added, not the full path. I know that I could instead of using file.FullName use file.Name but then I can play the media file because the application wont know where to find it. Any code that I could use to add only the found file name to the listox? Perhaps I need another hidden listbox that get the full name and then the results listbox retrieves only the last part of the path?
Is there a way to show videofiles' thumnails in VB application? Ideal situation would be so that the application would recieve videofiles via drag and drop and then show thumbnails from them the same way as you can see a preview thumbnails in Windows file-explorer.
I need to grab a thumbnail from a video file. I dont mind if i need to somehow grab it myself.... But I was doing some research and found IExtractImage which grabs the thumbnails out of the thumbs file in the directory... I haven't found any examples on how to use it in vb, only C#
how to use this or another way to get thumbnails from video files?
With that I have 2 forms, 1 main form (with all the controls and it should contain a preview screen of what is being displayed on the second form.
And a second form (with a windows media player component).
Now the main form should have (as told) a preview screen of what is shown on the second screen, I want to know if it is possible to have is as the windows 7 taskbar thumbnail (when preview the mediaplayer).
Anyways, i have coded a video downloaded and i want to include a converter as a separate exe file. But obviously people may have different file directories so a simple piece of code i have used won't work. This is what i have: Also where would i place the exe file?
i am trying to develop a project for my academics...i.e, windows application s/w... how to get the thumbnail view(in win7 taskbar shows in that manner?) of all applications that are appearing on taskbar with code in vb ..
and it works just fine. However, saying that, i need to find a way to loop through ALL the directory's on the "c" drive and not just the main folder. Does anyone have any code that can do that?
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim strFileSize As String = "" Dim di As New IO.DirectoryInfo("C:")
[code]....
and it works just fine. However, saying that, i need to find a way to loop through ALL the directory's on the "c" drive and not just the main folder.
I have a vb.net project which i have inserted pictures and video. I inserted a video clip using the Windows Media Player control and it does work. The issue i have is that i can't move the program to another computer because the pathname for the video will be wrong. I know i could change the pathname when i move it but this is not practical because i need to present this program. Does anybody know how to make the video accessible no matter what location the program is at?
I am monitoring 12 video feeds from video cameras. Now I have more than 12 cameras, I have 134. But I will only monitor 12 cameras at a time. By Monitoring I mean, I have 12 small video screens on the form that I can see the video. The way I know which cameras are active, so I can monitor them is by a boolean value in a sql database. I run a Store Procedure in my program, and spit out the results in a XML file. I then read the XML file in a loop. This XML file will have a list of the camera names I need to monitor.
So that is for 12 video feeds. Now, I want to have a NEXT or FORWARD button on my monitor form. So when I click this it will give me the next group of cameras, 13 to 24. Now if I only have15 cameras that are active, that means the first group is 1 to 12, then the second group is 13 to 15 cameras. So I will only have 3 to monitor on the second grouping. One thought I had was to have another field in my table to mark as already as an active monitor, so when I run the SP, i will not select that row. But I need to select 12 at a time. Or I can make a number of xml files, one xml file for each grouping of 12, but I need to figure out how I can select the next group without re-selecting the first group. I have no code at the moment, I'm on my non-programming computer.
I creat audio video chat and when calling receivng video and client video is together...I want that client move his or her webcam video where want...as I know it name DROP&DRAP but I`m not know how to do it...
I was wondering if it was possible to have a program open Firefox, and have it open a bunch of tabs that all go to a link with a video, and then have it automatically play that video?
I have a VB.Net 2010 app and need to delete a file from the hard drive when the app opens up (cache file). What command will perform this action? I know the name in advance, so I can format the command right in the app.
First off a short background of the project I am working on- I am developing a program that will be run off removable media (i.e. USB Flash drive). This will be a virtual desktop which you will be able to take with you and have the same desktop on any system. As we know drive letters can change with each host system the drive is plugged into, I need to be able to determine the path for the flash drive and access a specific folder ( i.e. My Documents)
I have an picture box(representing the icon) placed on my form (form1) and when I click the icon I want to be able to open and view the a specific folder from the portable drive. I need a click event that will determine a dynamic drive letter for a directory on the removable drive and then open that directory in an explorer window.
Im having a problem loading a html file to a webbrowser in a program im writing. What it does if I press a button or menu item a form is loaded and a html help file is loaded to the WebBrowser1. here is the code
Public Class frmWeb Private Sub frmWeb_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Dim path As String
I wrote a program that can kinda of read Docx files. I can extract the text of the file and the metadata that word puts in the file not the stuff you see when you write click and go to properties. I Can extract and view that data I'm working on making the subroutine (i don't know if its an algorithm there is no math.Anyway I want this to be a forensic program where it will scan the whole hard drive and add all the docx files to a listbox. I found this code
Dim file_names As ReadOnlyCollection(Of String) Dim directory As String = "c:" Dim searchFor As String = "windows"
[code]....
but some folders that where hidden like $inplace they were left over from my windows 7 upgrade. they cause it to crash. is there anyway to be able to scan every folder on the PC. I tried launching the complied .exe by right clicking and hitting run as admin but it still crashed when i executed that code.
I have a program that must copy a file to 3 locations, the local hard disk, a USB drive, and a network location. I have the file (about 70mb) loaded into a byte array. My quesion is, since I'm not actively modifying the byte array, can I impliment a form of multithreading where all 3 threads read the same byte array at the same time?
I have a program that works I would just like it to be able to find the file with out me specifying the actual path. Because if it is on someone's computer other than mine the path might not be correct and it will not function properly. Here is the code I have done. The file it is looking for is of course names.txt. I have not been able to find much info on this.
This is my first attempt at creating a Winforms application, and I have been developing in the .Net Framework (Silverlight, ASP.Net, WPF) for about 6 months. So, my appologies if this is a newbie question.
Basically what I am doing right now is taking the drawings of a stylus-based input, and storing them into an image field in a SQL Server database. Then, in another form, I go and get that image out of the database, and load it into a picture box. It works, but it is rather "sloppy" how it got there. When the user clicks save, it stores that image into a temporary folder, then converts it to a byte array and throws it into the database that way. Then, it deletes the file from the temporary folder. When retrieving it, it pulls it out of the database in a byte array, then converts it to an image in a temporary folder, thus displaying it on the form.
Is there a way that I can just bypass the storing of the file onto the user's harddrive both times, and go from byte array to picturebox?
The drive is connected via USB and the problem I'm having is that, periodically, while my code is executing, the usb drive seems to disconnect and reconnect. (Nothing to do with the program, but the drive itself).I want to find a way to prevent these temporary drive reconnects from interrupting my code. IE, i want to insure that whatever read or write that is requested is actually executed even in the case of a temporary drive interruption.
