I'm using this for logging. I use one method multiple times and it would be nice to log the name of the variable that I passed to it. Since I'm passing it byref, I should be able to get this name, right?This would give you the parameter name in the method and it's type, but not the name of the variable that was passed byref.

However, each thread will pass in its own dataset by reference. From what I have read the local variables should be no problem, but I think the dataset coming in is a concern. How should I control access / execution of this function to make sure that it is thread safe?

Unable To Highlight A Row When A Row Is Selected?
Sep 11, 2009I have a datagrid pulling data from a database and displaying it. I need to be able to highlight a row when a row is selected. I have looked over the internet and found using a checkbox is best. However the users don't want this as it is not intuative enough. They want to click anywhere in the row, and highlight it like you would in a windows based system.
I have added the following code in the item created event
e.Item.Attributes.Add("onclick", "this.style.backgroundColor=''Green")
however i need some way of deselecting this when they click on another row.

Apr 19, 2010I am using MonthCalender control in vb.net to select a date. I am able to save the selected date to DB and also retrieve and bold the previous selected date. But even though date is bolded it is not displayed when the form loads. It still highlights today's date. What Do i do to highlight the previous chosen dates. Aug 31, 2009I am not sure if it is possible, but I would like to be able to provide a custom "SelectedHighlight" color when an item is selcted in both a treeview and a listview (Better yet, any) control.
While I am a fan of sticking with established convention in most cases, There are times and places when I would like to do this.
A. Is it possible to do this? And by possible, I am looking to Override the Default system SystemHighlight at runtime, for only a particular control. I am NOT looking to change global system settings (at least, outside of any time when the particular control has the focus.
B. I haver tried a few searches, and I will contiinue (Try searching for any combination of "System", Color", "Selection", and "Highlight" and see what comes back!).

Get Selected Item Index Or A Sorted & Grouped List Relative To Item Source?
Feb 12, 2011I'm having some difficulty with a sorted & grouped listbox in WPF vb.net 3.5 that has an items source bound to an ObservableCollection.
What I want to be able to do is to retrieve a piece of data from the ObservableCollection items source depending on what item in the listbox the user has selected.I've almost got it working but because the listbox is sorted it does not match the index of the items source.

As I previously mentioned, because the lstBox is sorted and also grouped the index's don't match up.Does anyone know how I can get the correct information I want from the List Source depending on the selected item in the list box?

May 19, 2009Ok, so I have a listview on one form, and when a button is pressed it opens up a new form with the contents of the selected listview item and it's subitems in a series of textboxes. The user can then change the data in the textboxes and either press save to make the changes or cancel to close the window.
