DB/Reporting :: Selected Values From Comboboxes Not Being Passed To Connectionstring?

Once again I have hit a brick wall here. I have a combobox in which the user types the server name and then clicks on button 'CONNECT' to populate the next combobox which contains all the databases in that
server. Then after the user selects a database, I have another button that he/she click and I want to retrieve file groups from a specific table. At this point when he/she clicks on that button I get an error: "An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)"

I want to choose a value dynamically from comboBox depending of the values selected previously in two comboBoxes.the code that loads the comboBoxes:

The problem is that in the last Sub in the If sentence gives an error of: Null Reference Exception, because the compiler thinks that in that event the data are not loaded, although the data are loaded when loadcomboBoxes sub is executed.

Is it possible to replace the selected NumericUpDown controls with ComboBoxes?
I understand that not all properties can be conserved but the only properties I need are the location and the size. The workflow I have in mind is as follows:
Select certain NumericUpDowns Click replace with... and then select ComboBoxes (or any other approach) Where the NumericUpDowns were, there are now ComboBoxes of the same size
The reason I want to do this is that I have to put together a GUI with multiple tabs. Each tab page has a list of Labels with either NumericUpDowns or ControlBoxes next to it. The order of the controls changes per tab. I just want to copy the items on the first tab and paste them on the other tabs. Then per tab I only have to change certain NumericUpDowns into ComboBoxes.

In my program I've got several comboboxes that all have the same comboboxitems and when the user makes a selection in one of the comboboxes the selected comboboxitem gets disabled in the other comboboxes. (i.e. If the user has selected the comboboxitem with value 'a' in combobox #1 and selected the comboboxitem with value 'b' in combobox #2 then in remaining comboboxes both the comboboxitems with values 'a' and 'b' are disabled)

I am currently working on a project that requires an update within an Access Database. There are photo folders, and the user defines the path name via a dialog box. That path name is stored to a string value, and through OleDBReader, the actual name of the photo (from another column in the database) is stored to another string value. Anyway, I have tried a number of methods to update, and nothing is working, here is my code from the OleDBReader on, and the procedure designed to do the update. (note that TargetID represents the primary key of the access DB.. this is why I pass that value in because I can use the Rows.Find(PK) method.. When I use a simpler updating method, I get an error saying I do not have a valid update command). OK Here is the code:

when calling a webmethod

The object DeviceUploadData has many properties, and a few of them are array's. My question is about the array specifically. It loses it's value once it's received on the webmethod end.This is the property inside DeviceUploadData

So the DataObject is populated with data, then once passed, on the other end, some of the DataObject properties are no longer populated. I haven't included the other properties in this example.

I'm just learning VB and enjoying it, but I have run into a problem with a recent program. I am working with passing values. There is a button on my form that is pressed each time the user "votes" for an option. The problem is I'm declaring my variables in the button press action, then calling my subs/functions.
This seems to be re-declaring my variables each time the button is pressed causing the total counters to fail to increment. I wrote the code for a very basic example of what I am running into in my more complex program.

I have a situation that has puzzled me for weeks. I am running logic that does a bit of back and forth to and from the database for each time it is executed (about 20 times). I've mainly been recording keystrok macros... I created visual basic code that allows the user of a template to hide table gridlines - which works fine. The code to show gridlines does not work if the table has only one row. Here is the code - it is getting "stuck" on the
.LineWidth = wd
LineWidth050pt for a horizontal border, as there isn't one. I don't know how to change the code to not execute the command if a horizontal border line does not exist.

I want to pass a List of T where T is an object I've created that has about ten properties (strings, dates and integers).The lst passes to the function successfully. I am also passing an New T of the Object (itm as T).I can see all the values (see image below), but because it's generic I cannot seem to retrieve the property values and I cannot figure out how to iterate through the properties of each itm as they are retrieved in the For Each.[code]

I have a form with 4 comboboxes and a button. The first combobox is enabled, but the rest of the controls are disabled. When the form is opened I fill the first combobox (cbxMethod) with a datatable. When the user selects something in cbxMethod the next combobox (cbxStudy) will be filled and so on. When the last combobox (cbxAnalyte) has a selected value I want to enable the button and give it focus so the user can move forward with the program. I basically want to force the user to move from one combobox to the other, until all are filled.I am currently using the SelectionValueChange event, but this event only fires when the user changes the value with their mouse or hits the Enter key, not when the user hits the Tab key.

I have a table with field data. Each row in the table represents a field on a contact. One row would contain the contact ID, the type of field (ex. "Email"), and the actual value of the field ("here@that.com"). Now i want to list all the emails for 1 contact in a single row (like "here@that.com, a@b.com, test@this.com").Can I do this with an SQL function in a GROUP BY? Something like:

I have a dialog that is displayed concurrently with the main form and it has a datagridview showing a list of x,y values. The user can actively change the DGV in the dialog, but if I reference the DGV from the main form, it will not capture the user changes, but report the original values that were in the cells. I'm sure there is some sort of refresh or update event I am missing, but I have tried all the VS suggested options for the DGV and the dialog that seem relevant with no luck.

I created a connection string for an excel file. I prefer this method as opposed to creating "Excel" objects since it is not restricted to a specific version of Excel.When I connect to the excel file, I step past the first few rows since they have data that is not needed. When I reach the first field that contains a date, then I begin my data import. However, at that point (A8), it shows the cell in the "A" column as having a Null value even though there is indeed a value in the cell. Columns "B" and "C" are fine.

I currently have this code setup to insert and read from the database, I set the insert code to a bottom just for testing purposes.[code]There are three columns in the database rank, score and name. On postback, check for a xml node where node's text = shopDDL shopname
And retrieve also this node's currentdate and label counter.
Rhen, if the node currentday = today then increment labelcounter by 1
Else set labelcounter = 1 and currentday= today
My problem is the XML query, I can do all the logic as soon as I manage to retrieve data from the XML.
