Holding A Key Down - Translate Input From An External Device Into Keypresses
May 26, 2009
im trying to make vb.net translate input from an external device into keypresses. when bit = 1 i want the key down, when bit = 0 i want it up unfortunately with sendkeys it just sends the same keystroke over and over again. ive googled for days without finding a good answer.
I have developed a simple software using VB.net, now i want to receive some data from an external device,How to read a hardware transmitted data using VB.net, where hardware is attached to a USB port?"
I'm trying to connect to an external device using a serial port. I found a couple of tutorials with demo code and tried these. Unfortunately they all return the same gibberish unreadible result.[code]I'm sure my port settings are correct (I have the communication protocol of the device.)
I am trying to read data from an external device using MSComm control but the problem is I am getting wrong data. I am recieving 1 byte data but the first three bits are wrong so anything greater than 31 sent from the external devices is recieved wrongly. eg. if I am sending 63(111111) from the device then the input from MSComm control gives me 159(10011111).Due to this reason I tried SerialPort from .Net framework and was surprised to see that it is working properly.
How can I create a simple application to send timed controls to an external device?
What I need is to create a very simple application that sends control signals or voltages out to an external device connected via serial perhaps. The external device will in turn trigger some electromechanical devices. There needs to be 24 independent controls each with a simple command equivalent to on or off. What is important is being able to control the timings of the on and off on each control.[code]....
I have a usb instrument and a driver who's printed output dumps a data string to the computer I need to be able to read this string into vba The driver manual provides the content of the string but no info on how to access the data.
Is it possible to use a datgridview as an input device and then transfer the input to variables (one or two dimensional). I am creating a programme that can be used for a widely divergent number if inputs and the grid would be easier for the user rather than me creating a lot of text boxes at design time which may not be required much of the time and a datagridview would probably be preferable.
I am using a datagridview as an input device. When I call an error checker for the input, I want to set the focus on the cell where the error was found but cannot find a command to do this such as:
I'm trying to develop an application to capture the input buffer to identify a device's input commands to build a user control that uses this commands for further use.I'm actually developing a project that simulates Guitar Hero, and I want it to recognise the Guitar Hero Controller's input.I know there are already several controls that work with the guitar hero controller. The thing is i MUST develop this control myself.
What i've done so far only recognises input from the keyboard using Console.OpenStandardInput() . The thing is, as the class name says, it reads input from the Console... not from all sources possible, such as mouse, and other peripherals (joystick, and as i need it, Guitar Hero Controller)
I am quite new to programming so please bear with me if I am asking stupid questions. I have searched the forums but couldn't find a (comprehensible) answer.I am calling an external .exe file from VB, I do this with Shell. The external .exe opens a command window and asks for a file name. I am trying to make vb to input a file name into the command window but I m not sure how. The SendKeys command doesn't seem to work.
A Problem in accessing a device from VB Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because there is a duplicate device already running in the system. (Code 42) This error is because i am using 2 devices of the same company which has the mass usb storage on it and when i install one of the device the other hides. So one is detected the Other is not. It also give a error called designed dragnonacally something...
I want a way to be able to control all the keypresses on a given form. I tried overriding a WndProc of a form to achieve this but I noticed that my text box keypresses are not going to that wndproc. Whats the way to achieve this?
I am currently creating a Space Invaders game. Basically what I want to do is being able to move and shoot at the same time. The problem is that whenever one button is pressed to execute an action it cancels out any other button being pressed. I don't want that to happen. Currently I am just using Key down. How I can have multiple key presses at once?
Private Sub frmain_KeyDown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventArgs) Handles Me.KeyDown Dim Loc As Point Select Case e.KeyCode Case Keys.Left [Code] .....
That's my code. This is basically the last thing i need done in my project.
How can you simulate keypresses and releases? I know you can essentially hit a key with Sendkeys.SendWait, but how can your code press and hold q, for example? I essentially wish to be able to call something like press("q") and release("q"). The effect would be the same as physically holding them down.
I've started building a small game where you move around a PictureBox control with keystrokes using the arrow keys. Everything was working fine....until I added a button.
Now the button steals the focus so that every time I hit an arrow key hoping to move my image, it just selects the button.
Is there any way to make the button selectable only by mouse click?
I've been looking around for a way to accomplish this to no luck, but is it possible to have a series of keypresses (Like Ctrl + Shift + O) or something like that act as an event? I'm trying to find a way to make something like this show a form using the old Me.Show() code.
I have the following code to handle keypresses on the form:
Private Sub Form1_KeyDown(ByVal sender As Object, _ ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventArgs) Handles Me.KeyDown Debug.WriteLine(e.KeyCode)
[Code].....
The first time I press any of the arrow keys the code is not executed and a NumericUpDown(NUD) on the form gets the focus. The rest of the times the arrow keys are pressed everything is fine, until I click on a button. Then the problem repeats, focus NUD, then fine.
I'm making a mario-like clone and I just finished the jumping code. The only problem is that moving while jumping is extremely hard because if you hold down the up key and right key at the same time, neither one activates.
I am attempting to keep user inputs into our application as clean as possible. One way I am attempting to do this is not allowing incorrect data type in fields (not allowing alpha characters when expecting numeric values)I found and implemented the following code:
Private Sub txtSocial_KeyPress(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyPressEventArgs) Handles txtSocial.KeyPress Dim UserKeyPress As Char = e.KeyChar Dim isKey As Boolean = e.KeyChar.IsDigit(UserKeyPress)
The user has to enter the text in the textbox , to write a text user need to press the keys and release the keys. Write a code to count the number of keypresses and keyreleases and display the value in the labels.
I have a application which is on timesheet. I have total of 54 columns out of which 10 columns are visible rest invisibleFirst 3 columns are Project, MileStone and Classes. Rest are Sun- Sat work hrs, TaskId, TaskDesc and so on for each day. On my grid only first 3 columns and Sun - Sat work hrs are visible, rest are invisible. These Columns from Sun - Sat do not exists in database. They are identified on the basis of date and displayed on the grid. They exists as row in database but displayed as column over the grid.
Now I have columns named SunTaskID,MonTaskID and so on till SatTaskID for holding each days taskid[TaskID is the PK of the table from which data is pulled out. And each has its own task id.] Now on the selection of SunHrs (Sunday's Work Hrs), i retrieve that days taskid and on the basis of task id i then retrieve attachments which is displayed under a listbox. Now the problem is that since a day can have multiple attachments and a user can attach multiple attachments at time. I am not able to hold the attachments.
I'm trying to do here is get VB to hold a key down until I tell it to stop. Perhaps I'm missing something but I don't understand why this isn't working. This code can hold down shift and so on for as long as I want it too but absolutely refuses to hold down what i need it too (any letter key or numpad key)[code]
I've been working on my Pacman-ish game, and I want to have a high score table be available to be seen on the main options screen. Therefore, I need to save score information, and be able to separate it into a table, specifically 3 columns (Name, Orbs Collected and Time Alive). [code]However, I have no idea where to start with the high scores table.
I am creating a game and when dice have been rolled I want the user to be able to hold certain dice.I have changed the design of the dice from labels to button controls, because whichever dice the user wants to hold thet can simply click on the relevent dice button, I used this code for holding the dice button.
