How Many Of Programmers Want To Develop A Web-browser

I noticed how many of Visual Basic programmers want to develop a webbrowser. So now I had the thought: why not put our knowledge together and make a webbrowser that every other webbrowser developer gets a headache from trying to understand how we pulled it? I have the base function like opening a new tab, browsing, implementing favicon and changing from tab functions working.Accept browsing with it there will also be brought out a webdeveloper version of it.If possible i would like to us a other browser control then the webbrowser control standart in VB2008/2010.If you would like tovolunteer and develop a webbrowser with an entire team contact me via mail! Lately I've had to do a bit of programming in VB .NET. It hasn't been too difficult, but the lack of proper documentation or good tutorials has been annoying me. I'm used to finding a lot of relevant info when I google a programming question, or term, or method name - but it's been more difficult with VB .NET. Anyone know of any good tutorial/documentation sites for VB .NET?

I've created a simple tool using a datagrid and adding functionality for cutting, pasting, deleting, adding rows, etc. The select users can create new, save, edit, delete from the database. Is there a better way to do this with some of the new technology from visual studio?

We develop small applications for various customers. I now got a task to set up some coding guidelines for in-house and external programmers. (Management know nothing about development and only see the problem in transferring projects from one developer to another. Customers pay by the hour and development is a small part of total project so code quality is a non-issue)My first step is to set up guidelines for C# and VB.Net (SQL will probably come later).(Most code here is created with CTRL-CCTRL-V and testing is done with F5.I have tried to introduce unit testing / code review but that is not going to happen. Static analysis is the only way forward at the moment)I am most comfortable in C#/C++ (but sometimes work with existing VB6/VBA/VB.Net code) so setting up C# guidelines is pretty easy: [code] For VB.Net I need to replace StyleCop with some written guidelines but how do I set up the VB.Net compiler.Personally I never code without Option Explicit / Option Strict etc but if I do that on our VB.Net projects I get hundreds of warnings/errors (implicit conversions, default return type/value etc).The VB developers does not seem to have a problem working without help from compiler warnings. I do not think their productivity generally differs from C# developers (it is more a personal thing).I do not want to enforce my own preference for static checking so my questions is: What warning levels are reasonable/best practice for VB.Net development?

I am creating a webbrowser with Visual Basic, and I have finished everything but this: When I click on an external link, (I.E. On a photo, or on youtube) it opens up in a new IE window. I want it to open in my browser, not Internet Explorer.I have read everything I have found on this subject, but it is all for normal web browsers. I want to do this for a tabbed web browser, not one without tabs. Basicly, I want to use this code with my tabbed web browser that uses tab control.

I coded a web browser over the course of a year called Nova - very advanced with tabbed browsing, bookmarks, homepage, history, etc etc etc etc. I could go on all day about how advanced it is. But.. there is one flaw. You cannot make it the default browser; I don't know the code!I already know the CommandLineArgs stuff so it actually opens the HTML file rather than just opening the program; in fact, I already can make files open with Nova completely. It's just the other stuff - you know, when a website is to be opened from a help file or something, it opens with Nova, Windows recognises it as the default browser, stuff like that.

Other topics around the Internet are all unfinished topics, so I'll ask this myself. How do I set a self-made browser as the default browser? I know it has something to do with accessing the registry and checking what the value is in some places, but I'm not quite sure. Now, I've made this browser called Nova;
very well coded and advanced, tabbed browsing, bookmarks, homepage, history, can change default search provider, uses Gecko as its engine so it's not just an IE shell, etc. It's been developed over the past year and will still continue to be developed. I'm almost ready to release the first version - but I just need this annoyance solved.

I am trying to make a web browser for a school project... and I have a few questions...
The first being that I have a textbox for my address bar and I want it to do a few things, I want it to expand when i set my browser to fullscreen , be able to press enter when typing in it and it will take me to that webpage and for it to show recent history... (i know it seems like a ton of expectations mainly i would like the first 2 the third is not as important) So i dont know how to do any of that...
I also would like to know how to go about making new tabs on demand and not have a bunch of tabs just sitting there...
last question how do i go about making new windows not just for browser windows but, making something like firefoxes options window.. not necisarily to do that but just to make i guess another form pop up...

I am drawing a total blank and my web searches are not giving me what I am looking for.
I initially developed this with a Windows FolderDialogBrowser control, but it will not run on the web server, likely a security issue, and I can not change it.

I have been searching a lot online but couldn't find a solution for my problem. I want it to refresh every certain interval of time without this message to display. Now Ican't minimize my program because I'm putting an automatic Sendkeys.send("{Enter}") after the refresh to get rid of that message by clicking on "Retry".And If I minimize it the Enter will be executed on the active Window, which might be any other Window.
I hope that you understand what I mean, If not, I will clarify more.

1. For All Users:
Text-chat feature will allow users to chat with the available online users.
2. For Registered User:Allow users to create new folders and sub-folders, to store (upload) files.Allow users to perform move/copy/delete operations on folders and files. The percentage of storage capacity remaining and used should be displayed on the top. Automatic versioning system will record the version/revision information when a file is replaced/overwritten Team management feature will allow users to work in teams (by inviting other existing registered users). The activities of the team include access to the password protected area for the team, uploading files, commenting on the uploaded files (discussion), polls, automatic and manual reminders to the team members.
3. For Administrator:
Approve/Reject new team requests; update/delete existing teams.View all the files and folders uploaded on the server.Allow to perform delete operation on any existing file/folder existing on the server.Delete account for any registered user.Define and Edit storage capacity and other limits such as Maximum file size allowed for uploading.
Queries:
1) As, every user will have his/her own PERSONAL profile page then how will the system redirect the user to his/her PERSONAL profile page after hitting Login?
2) How this chatting feature can be developed?
3) How this storage capacity would be assigned overall?
4) How Administrator will manage all this?
I am totally confused.I have developed SRS as well. but in coding I am totally stuck as I am not so good in coding. I thought Visual Studio 2010 would help me effectively in this case, and I am trying but couldn't find any way for this to be done.

So, I don't want this to get into a flame war between C# and VB.NET developers. This is purely from a standpoint of a development department going forward. We've been a VB.NET company for years, but that was mainly due to who we've hired. That requirement has fallen off the wayside as of late, as we've pulled in 2 guys who specialize in C#. I used to be a C++/C# guy before converting to VB.NET for this company.
So, to everyone who has to deal with this whether on a hiring basis or a maintainability basis: how do you handle standardizing languages of choice going forward? I'm inclined to make a push for C#, as that'll make 3 solid C# developers here. But just curious what everyone's thoughts on this are.
