I want to launch a application called Foxit Reader pdf Reader .I know System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(path) can do it but . Requirements are Foxit Reader should be installed on machine. Now if it is installed how to serarch for the path of its Executable to provide the parameter as I can not hardcode the path for different machines.
I am clueless on the whole thing and been reading a lot about it. So far, I saw some samples which are poorly documented and oritend to vb.net 2005. Is there any SDK oriented to vb.net 2010 and well-documented? After converting 2005->2010, it gives me errors and so I can't see the samples. Gruile SDK seems to work fine but it is very badly documented. I donno how it is initialized and interacted with at all as their API reference is poorly written.

I am a SQL Server Developer and DBA. I have some experience in VB.Net (Windows Application) programming. I used to use .config to setup database user and password. I have a windows application running on my computer. I would like to check which username and password is used to connect to SQL Server Database.
The application sits on a virtual environment and when I remote in and run the application, it connects to the remote database. However, when I remote in with a service account and double click the same .exe, it tries to connect to the local host database and ignores the app.config. The code is the same, only the login name I use is different. The login I use is part of the local admin group. Any ideas?
My application is connecting to a webservice but when the webservice is offline, it will show a messagebox saying there has occured an error in my application. We have a VB.Net application which works fine in our tests in different Windows XP SP3 machines. However there is one machine in which is displaying this error:
Unable to connect to any of the specified MySQL hosts
Using the mysql command, we can successfully connect to the database. We already checked for any other application or firewall that could be blocking the connection but it seems fine. We also reinstalled the system (no errors during the installation) but the MySQL error message doesn't change.
The system settings are exactly the same as in the other computers. We are using "localhost" as server in the connection string. The "hosts" file has its default values (nothing strange in there).
i wanted to write a quick program to get the file organization of my MP3 files back into sync with the info in my ID3 tags... I had tried to get the Windows Media Format SDK, but when i go to install it says it can only run on WinXP. Problem is it seems the official site is gone, and the other links i've found to a hosting on Novell's servers is also down. Anyone know where i can still get a distro of TagLib# for C#/VB.NET for Windows? Or another good ID3 tag reader?
i have a Windows service that is hosting a WCF service through net.tcp and this is working great. I have also created a WCF service application. I am trying to add the net.tcp service reference to the service application. Then I add it to the GAC that goes ok but if I try to RegAsm the WCF service application to allow it to be called from Server.CreateObject I get the error:
Warning: Type library exporter encountered a type that derives from a generic class and is not marked as [ClassInterface(ClassInterfaceType.None)]. Class interfaces cannot be exposed for such types. Consider marking the type with [ClassInterface(ClassInterfaceType.None)] and exposing an explicit interface as the default interface to COM using the ComDefaultInterface attribute.
It does not work. I have tried to call it through a class library but this does not work either as the end point is not set correctly.
I have a simple RSS reader in a Web Browser application I am making. But whenever I click "Show RSS feeds" which makes my RSS reader window show, my application goes non-responsive! VB 2008 isn't registering any errors or warnings!

I am trying to build a retail store application that uses a barcode reader. I need to know how to get the barcode data in my application and use it against my items database.
I'm making a browser and for the favorites I'm using a reader and writer to read and write new favorite to a .txt file. Now if I edit the text file manually and load up the browser, the favorites show up as they should but the problem comes in when I add the a new favourite and then reload the application. Once reloaded the favorites seem to copy what was originally in the file and then whatever I added last at the bottom.
Here is the Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click WebBrowser1.Navigate(TextBox1.Text) ListBox1.Items.Add(TextBox1.Text) [Code] .....
