I thought it would be either the startupform.Activated or some application level event but I can't find it.
The reason for the question is that I want to control when the splash screen is closed myself - can I do this?

Mar 1, 2011I 'm working on a quite large VB application, and recently I started profiling the memory usage, because there were some issues with objects not being collected.I noticed that the SplashScreen (boilerplate SplashScreen hooked up via Project Properties) never gets collected, because is remains referenced by My.MyProject.MyForms.m_SplashScreen. This is apparantly a private member, and I can't figure out how and where to set it to nothing with reflection code.I looked into my code to make sure i'm not doing anything special; I don't even reference the form anywhere.

Jun 22, 2010I have a vb.net project which i have inserted pictures and video. I inserted a video clip using the Windows Media Player control and it does work. The issue i have is that i can't move the program to another computer because the pathname for the video will be wrong. I know i could change the pathname when i move it but this is not practical because i need to present this program. Does anybody know how to make the video accessible no matter what location the program is at?

Dec 24, 2009I am monitoring 12 video feeds from video cameras. Now I have more than 12 cameras, I have 134. But I will only monitor 12 cameras at a time. By Monitoring I mean, I have 12 small video screens on the form that I can see the video. The way I know which cameras are active, so I can monitor them is by a boolean value in a sql database. I run a Store Procedure in my program, and spit out the results in a XML file. I then read the XML file in a loop. This XML file will have a list of the camera names I need to monitor.
So that is for 12 video feeds. Now, I want to have a NEXT or FORWARD button on my monitor form. So when I click this it will give me the next group of cameras, 13 to 24. Now if I only have15 cameras that are active, that means the first group is 1 to 12, then the second group is 13 to 15 cameras. So I will only have 3 to monitor on the second grouping. One thought I had was to have another field in my table to mark as already as an active monitor, so when I run the SP, i will not select that row. But I need to select 12 at a time. Or I can make a number of xml files, one xml file for each grouping of 12, but I need to figure out how I can select the next group without re-selecting the first group. I have no code at the moment, I'm on my non-programming computer.

Oct 18, 2011this is the error I started getting only when I added a splashscreen to my application. Please note that I haven't added any code there - on the contrary - I removed everything from the Splash class. The issue seems not to occur when debugging - I got it from my Virtual machine - what makes the problem a bit more complicated as I have no idea which line may cause it. The problem shows up between splash_screen_dispose and main_show (when I click continue all is ok).

I have a splash screen that comes up while the main form is loading and I want the splash screen to display the status in a progress bar named ProgBar. Mar 8, 2011I have a splash screen for my program that I want to have a background image that changes each time the program opens.One way I saw to do this is to load it from a ImageList, but that has an maximum image size of 256x256.The splash screen is 498 x 305, which means that I need to find something besides ImageList but hopefully with a similar ability to organize the images.I did try just putting them into resources, but wasn't able to get it to set the background without erroring, and I'd prefer not to have 30 images cluttering the place up.

The problem is now the splashScreen stays open even After Application exits, instead of simply closing at the end of the sleeptimer..
