Background: I need to create a user account and Modify it's registry before the user logs on the first time. Creating the account is done by using the Winnt provider (works great). To create the profile I'm trying to use Process.start to launch a process as the newly created user. With the use of loaduserprofile property the users profile gets created and i can do my regwrites without problem.

I am trying to make an application which logs on to a server using the telnet protocol runs a couple of commands and stores the output of these commands in a text file.The problem is that I cant really seem to figure out how to negotiate the telnet commands. I have done a packet capture of a telnet session todifferent servers using a packet capturing program and I dont seem to find any fixed pattern. Every server negotiates the command in its own different way and in a different sequence, moreover the commands exchanged are not the same.
What I want to do is to exchange the bare minimum commands which will allow me to log on to any server via telnet, run my commands, take the output and logout.I have searched the internet for such a set of 'general' telnet commands but I wasnt able to find any.
When a user installs the application from the ClickOnce location there is a noticeable delay after the install runs to when the program loads. Is there a way to put in a progress screen in this instance to instructed the user that there is still more to come?
There is also another instance when an email is being priocessed, there is a delay between the button click and when the email box displays. Need some sort of motion happening during that time.How is this done and what do I look for? Can I make a module that handles this and then just call it during certain activities?

However this application needs to be run as administrator. Is there a way to get the application to bring up the RunAs prompt as soon as it runs, so the user doesn't have to do a Shift + Right click > Runas?

View 5 RepliesI have made my application to start automaticly when windows start (registry ../currentversion/run/appname + path). In this mode the application start minimized and an little icon appear in the notification icon area. With this icon you can maximize the app or exit it.If you exit the app and start it again using the Menu (Start/programs etc) than the application start in minimized mode (and in this case I would like to have it in normal mode) because the setting autostart is still true.Is there a way you can detect when the application start when windows startup using the above registry or when people click on an icon in the programs menu (or desktop)?
View 2 RepliesThe code below tries to clear the cookies for all domains once a user logs out of the system. For some reason, only the last domain in the array is cleared. Why does this happen?
For example, if I change the size of the array to 4 and then change the for loop to only go to 3, then it only logs me out of y.xcv.com.
As a sidenote, I have this loop working on a different server that uses a slightly different function to clear the cookies.
Edit: Code updated per suggestions below. Now it fails on the "as HttpCookie" line. Do I need to include some library?

My intentions are to add command line switching. I am trying to see if i could run my application in varoius ways i.e.
App.exe -S - Start the application in XX Mode

and that kinda switching.

My clickonce app has the following pre-requisites: Windows Installer 3.1 .NET Framework 3.5 Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Report Viewer Microsoft Visual Basic Power Packs 3.0 SQL Server 2005 Express Edition SP2 (x86) The application has been successfully installed on more than 30 computers. All but 2 computers, have had installation problems.
For awhile, one of the two computers in question, would not resolve installation of SQL server 2005 Express edition. It would go through the motions of downloading the program and then attempting an install and after a good 30 minutes, an error would show up indicating that the installation had failed. The user continued to have a nuisance error pop up appear when he'd log into his computer.Long story short, I resolved that problem. So now all of the pre-requisites are installed and confirmed as successfully installed. The clickonce application does not install however. The following log file was created as a result of this error:

I have a program, written in VB 2008, that I deplpoy in Terminal server, that has some user settings (scope: user) that I'd like to modify locally. By default the user settings were not even installed locally. I think they are supposed to appear in the ClickOnce data directory. Using the following thread, I was able to get the user.settings installed locally:

basically, i set my xml file as "Content" and I set the publish status as "Data File".
With this, my settings file appears in:
"C:Documents and SettingsusernameLocal SettingsApplication DataCompanyXYZProgramNameL.exe_Url_arzmal0maveh1nnwfib245pfk13xqfma1.0.0.0user.settings"
The problem is that modifying this file doesn't affect the application. I changed some settings, restarted the app, and changes were ignored.
I have a procedure at the end of my console application that ask the user to either hit enter to end the program, or type s to perform another search. The issue I'm having is no matter what the user types in the program end. What I would like to happen is if the user types s, then the program starts over and lets the user perform another search. The program is procedural and I need to find a way to start back off at the top of the program which ask the user to type a name to search.

When i create my code on a form (to run the function above) i receive the error "Object not set to an instance" I try to add New to my declaration but then receive the error "Application Deployment has no constructors". I have a vb.net clickonce application that will be used by low-level personnel with no administrator accesses. However, the application itself needs to save files to a folder on the server that is hidden and only allows read/write access to administrators. I need for these users to be able to interact with this folder using the application without giving them the ability to browse to the folder on their own. I have finished coding a VB.Net application that has connection to SQL Express 2008 database. My question is, what steps do I have to take to make this a multi user application.
FYI:There are 3 tables in the database of which two tables contain data to be viewed by the user and one table is to insert records by the user. The former two tables will be edited by the administrator only. So there is no issue of concurrency. But the one table that is used to insert records by all users has to be dealt with.
