Jun 8, 2011I am trying to make a five digit string, it needs to be 5 digits long basically it cant be less then 10000 and more then 99999, but when I run the code, all the label says is "this is a five digit code" from the time I start putting in numbers to even if I got a whole lot of numbers are in it, it remands the same label, what could be wrong or am I doing this wrong

I dont know how to start this, do I make a specific thing saying that these are the only ones you can use and if you entered something else then a text box saying incorrect or something like that?

May 25, 2010I am trying to make bounds for a character that can jump. I have made the character graphic into a rectangle and I have a square block in the game that the character must jump onto and I have set that as a rectangle.
How would I make it so when the character jumps onto the square block, he stays up there and then when he jumps down, and touches the ground, he stays on the ground. My current jump code is standardized; it does not detect changes in the Y-coordinate. What I have done in the jump for the character is I have made it so the Y-coordinate is increased by a certain amount and decreased by the same amount so the difference is equal to 0.
For example:

Mar 9, 2012I want to search as text is entered into a text box. All works as it should. When the search highlights the first character of the string then ALL following searches have this same color.
For example: I have a listbox with a list of titles. As I move through the titles the RTB displays the story line associated with the title.
RTB = "A big brown box and an apple is the mystery" Search for "a" (All conversions to common case) will highlight all the "a"s. BUT when I click on the next title, ALL the text is now highlighted.
There have been many variations tried and all without success.
I have a textbox for the search string I have a listbox with a list of titles I have a RTB with text associated with each listbox title.

Nov 20, 2010I'm working on a project using SQL Server Express 2008 R2 and Visual Basic 2008.My table has 8 text fields, each using the data type VarChar(num) with the number(num) ranging from 5 to 50. There are also number fields and a boolean field in the table.When I try to insert or update the table in Visual Basic the program runs through to completion, but the VarChar fields only contain the first character. The other fields come out fine. If I create the record in SSMS the fields are not truncated.
