View 1 RepliesWhat is the proper way to call up a form and wait until it receives a replay before moving onto the next code step? [Code] Now lf is the login form that waits for the users password and then, depending on if its correct or not when they hit OK it should send back a true or false (isLogedIn). Currently i do not know how to have the code wait until it receives something from the login form before moving onto the next code.
If i use my old code here:
Do Until isLogedIn = True
isLogedIn = isLogedIn
intX = intX + 1
Loop
It never ends if the user puts in a false login password so it just keeps waiting.
I have a strange issue when binding a combobox in a WPF window.I am loading a List object, to populate the combobox, through it's .ItemsSource, on Window Load, however, it does not populate.At least, not until the arrow is clicked on. Once the arrow is clicked on, the window freezes up, and after a minute or so, the 4000+ records are displayed in it.Now, the list gets loaded, however, when I click on the combobox it takes awhile for it to render, so how can I show a waitcursor while it is rendering the list?Here's the Xaml for it:
<ComboBox Grid.Column="1"
HorizontalAlignment="Stretch" Margin="3" Name="tUser" VerticalAlignment="Stretch"
DisplayMemberPath="UsersName" SelectedValuePath="UserID" SelectedValue="0"/>
And the code-behind is:
Private Sub CreateTask_Loaded(sender As Object, e As System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs) Handles Me.Loaded
Using New WaitCursor
_LA.Show()
Me.tOrder.ItemsSource = GetOrderList()

On Vista, it returns true, if it's the first administrator account, and false for anything else... I created a second administrator account on Vista, and it shows in code as "Standard" (or limited) user, the same as if I made a "Managed Account" on Vista...

I am been working on an a small app that has a Forms.Webbrowser control that navigates to a Adobe Flash program. I have developed the app on Vista 32bit platform and have had no problems. I have sent the app to a couple of people to test out and one is using Vista 64bit and is running into a problem. I know the webbrowser control just uses the underlying base framework of IE. The problem on the 64 bit machine is when the site is navigated to it says that it needs to have Flash installed. When the user goes to Adobe's site it says they need to use a 32bit browser.
As stated on Adobe site here:[URL] the Flash player need to be in a 32 bit browser. What options do I have to be able fix this problem? Is there another control that I can use that would be the same in a 32bit platform and 64bit platform? Besides navigating to the Flash program, the browser also goes to standard web pages.
I want the program to display the text "Waiting for connection..." while the program is actually waiting for a connection. However, when I run the program, the form doesn't even appear because the TCPListener is waiting. What can I do to have the program appear and show the text while it's waiting for a connection?

I have a form in VB.Net with Autoscroll enabled and several ComboBoxes within it. When I click on a ComboBox, I can use the mouse wheel to scroll through options, but I cannot deselect the ComboBox (by clicking off it on a blank portion of the parent form) in order to return to scrolling the parent form. This makes navigation in the form annoying, as I instinctively click off the control and flip the scroll wheel, causing the ComboBox to change selections instead of moving the parent form.
Is there a way to make this work in the intuitive way I expect it to, or do I have some conceptual confusion that makes this the wrong question to ask?
How can I enable my mouse wheel while using entering codebehind in the VB IDE?

Is it possible to emulate a mouse wheel scroll up/down with VB?
View 3 RepliesTo detect rotation of the mouse wheel in .NET/WinForms, I can override OnMouseWheel. Clicking can be detected by overriding OnMouseDown (it's just the Middle button). But how do I detect tilting of the wheel (tilt to the left/right for horizontal scrolling)? Neither OnMouseWheel, not OnMouseDown is being called when I tilt the mouse wheel.
View 2 RepliesI want my combobox to work like the one in Internet Explorer Address Bar,which does not move on move wheel move and the up and down arrow keys. View 2 RepliesI have an application that searches in a database for some information.Since the database is quite big, it sometimes takes a lot of time before the application returns the results to the interface.
I want to add some sort of spinning wheel to inform the user that the application is still searching the database and did not freeze. Once the results are returned, the wheel should disappear.
Any idea how to do this or is there a good tutorial explaining how to do this?
I have one form that display records and I use BindingNavigator to navigate trough the record. I want use also the wheel mouse to go up and down to the record, it's possible do this?
View 3 RepliesThe use of shift + scroll wheel is fairly common for horizontal scrolling.
Both of those are fairly easy to capture. I can use the MouseWheel event with a flag set by the KeyDown, KeyUp events to keep track of when the shift key is pressed.
However, how do I actually trigger the horizontal scrolling? I am aware of WM_MOUSEHWHEEL, can that be used to trigger the event?
Update: For a System.Windows.Form there is a HorizontalScroll property that is of type HScrollProperties. You can manipulate the Value attribute on that object to change the horizontal scrollbar's position. However, so far I haven't spotted any other controls on which that object is available.
I want to capture the Steering wheel and pedal output with my vb.net program , so my question is what kind of brand or type of Steering wheel and pedal should I look for that would be the easiest for this?
View 2 RepliesDoes anyone know of a way to disable the mouse scroll wheel when a control such as a ombobox or listbox has focus? For my purposes, combobox is all I need the answer for.I have a combobox set to trigger a SQL query on SelectedIndexChanged, and accidentally scrolling the wheel while the combobox has focus causes about six SQL queries to fire off simultaneously.

View 12 RepliesI have a multi-line text box with hundreds of lines. I would like to be able to scroll up or down in the list using the mousewheel (much like using the pgup/pgdown keys). I think I need to use the .mousewheel event, but I'm not sure how to implement this. Is that supported out of the box, or do I need to hook the mouse?
View 2 RepliesI have an unbound datagridview, where column #3 is a DataGridViewComboBoxColumn which is filled with some values for the user to choose.
Problem: mouse wheel.Users usually use the mouse wheel to scroll the datagridview. That is fine.However, if the focus is on a ComboboxCell, the wheel will not do the intended function (scrolling the grid), but will scroll the combo and change the cell value.
I am having lots of accidental changes because of that.
