In my user control's paint handler I iterate over a collection of predefined Bitmap objects and draw them to the client area thusly:
C# version:
private void Control_Paint(object sender, PaintEventArgs e) {
Graphics g = e.Graphics;
foreach (BitmapObj bmpObj in _bitmapObjCollection) {
g.DrawImageUnscaled(bmpObj.Bitmap, bmpObj.Location);
[Code] .....
The code works fine but starts to bog down when a dozen or so objects are added to the collection. My question is: Is there a way to speed this up? Would it be possible to use the Win32 bitblt function to replace DrawImageUnscaled? And if so how?

I'm trying to code an 'increase' button to prompt a user to input a rate by which to increase select prices in an array.It should request the increased rate, then request a number from one to five, representing which price in the array to increase.Then, if 'increase' button is selected again and another number from one to five is chosen, then that element should be increased.It's working, but all the numbers in the array are changed. And, when I hit the increase button again, the array is repopulated below the first price increases instead of only replacing the designated price.
'declare 5 element array of prices
Dim prices() As Double = {12.2, 8.5, 12, 50, 2.4}
Dim rateIncrease As Decimal
Dim isConverted As Boolean

I am using VB 2008 & Access Databases for creating WinForm Applications. Also i am using Crystal Reports for Report solution. my question is How do i created reports such a way that they can be printed in faster Ascii Format on any DotMatrix printer. The default true type fonts make printing very slower.
I tried to use "Draft 10 cpi" font which come to available me after i installed a correct driver for my Epson printer. which also helped me overcome this problem. however it wont be the scenario with all my clients i.e. they might have different printers having different Make with different drivers installed. i have tried to open such project on there PC but the printing wont come in Draft instead the fonts get expanded too much & the print wont come right.

I basically have an application that generates reports in a .html file, I use a .html file for the ease of making tables and formatting text.Now I would like to introduce a way of printing the reports from my program. Because I use a .html file, the formatting would not the correct if I was to print it directly from my application (as far as I know). For this reason, I would like to print it just like my web browser would have in order to keep the tabular data intact and the text formatting.

I'm creating an application which has an scheduler to print and it checks if there is a pending job on the print queue before it prints the next file. I use a timer which checks if there is any file to be printed on my database. Example, the timer ticks and selected 10 files to be printed, it should print the 10 files 1 at a time, if there's no print queue, that's the only time the next file should print. I think another timer is required which will keeps on checking if print queue is done. How will i do this?

I am setting up printing (to a printer or file) in my application, and it doesn't seem to print out any new lines that I specify. Here's some of my printing
' Loop through all of the text in the array
For i = 0 To 9
If i Mod 2 = 0 Then
[Code]....
When I print the output to a PDF file using PDFCreator, it stacks all of the letters onto each other rather than creating new lines at the places I've specified. I've also tried using vbNewLine instead of vbCrLf, but I haven't had any luck. I searched the web for this but couldn't find anything about it.

I add C# group too in this, because this is not VB problem but ExecuteNonQuery gives timeout. how to increase the time-out?Exact errormessage: ERROR [HYT00] [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Timeout expiredwe do have cms system and in that CMS I have created a IFRAME which calls this ASPX +VB code, which is in different physicall folder and it has managed Pipeline Classic. When I run this in Old application it works fine. But I copied the pages to the news server and created new application pool/website Call OldASPPAGES I get ODBC timeout on 'ExecuteNonQuery()' function below. Sometimes I works but 9 of the 10 cases I gettimeout. I checked the records and there are 247 records. But below you see there are 2 sql statements composed per Each loop. (update and insert)... 2 x 247 records = approx. 500 records.
But since the sql statement is concantenated so 1 call of ExecuteNonQuery, executue does do 500 SQL Statements.... I know this is GARBAGE, unacceptable.... But I inherited so for the moment I can't rewrite that.To the point:Below are the original statemenst: I have just added : conn.ConnectionTimeout = 240As you can see I've added 240 seconds, but I still get timeouts after approx. 30 secs... so this is not the right place.... question:- Why does this statement work in old ASP environment (without problem) and not in this environement in an IFRAME.
sql = sql & ", a30b_errorcode=" & data_30bis.errorCode
sql = sql & ", a30b_inputcompanyidvalid=" & Abs(CInt(data_30bis.inputCompanyIdValid))
sql = sql & ", a30b_inputnossvalid=" & Abs(CInt(data_30bis.inputNossValid))
[code].....

I have a button and text box. Every time I click on this button a number increments in the text box (textbox1). So far so good. Also on the form is another button called 'Submit' and three more textboxes. (textbox2, textbox3 and textbox4) What I want to do is every time I click on the submit button the value in textbox1 will be placed in the first textbox (testbox2) I will then increment the value in textbox1 and then hit submit again and the current value will be placed in textbox3 etc. The question I guess is how do I create a for - next loop that will increase the textbox?

I have a multi line textbox (in a windows form in vb.net application) that displays values from an array. What I would like is to have the height of the textbox increase automatically so that all the rows are visible in the textbox without the need to scroll down. Also I would like to know how this will affect any controls directly below the textbox in question. ie if the textbox grows in size, will it push the items below it further down or will it overlap them?

I have a recursive function that causes a stackoverflow for big inputs. So I want to enlarge my stack. I have never worked with threads so maybe I'm doing something wrong but when I try to make a new thread, the description for the second argument (StackSize) says that if I use a stacksize bigger than the default one, this argument will be ignored and the default size will be used. How to increase the stacksize? Or how to create a thread with a bigger size than the default one?

i am trying to complete a project. My task is to read large TXT files (300 files, 2.2 GB in total) read the customers inside, perform some data calculation and write each customer data to a separate txt file.
I made a code in VB6, it runs fine, however it takes 8 days to run on a quadcore processor, utilizing 20-30% of the CPU. Now I upgraded the code and am running on VB.NET 2008, the latest version. The speed still remains the same, and the CPU usage is also about the same.
Anyway I can make this process faster. I have a quadcore PC with 8GB of ram, possible to maybe make VB utilize all the CPU say 100%? so it executes atleast 2 to 3 times faster.
