Updates were easy but we don't know how to do the inserts and deletes even though we already have the DataAdapter .InsertCommand and .DeleteCommand defined and initialised.Currently the app allows the user to navigate through the Textboxes that are bound to the DataSource and the user can just change whatever is in the Textboxes before calling .Update

Ive created the form and successfully connected all text boxes etc. Using the code, I have managed to open the database and fill the dataset. However when I BIND the Datagrid datasource to the Dataset, I can only see the COLUMN NAMES in the datagrid and not the rows or the data. How to Insert, Update and Delete data. View 4 Repliesi have a created a project that enables the user to choose any access database and presents the different tables on a treeview... after that the user is able to drag and drop fields on to another form and automatically controls (text boxes, combo boxes etc.)are created with their respective data bindings... it also creates a binding navigator.... my problem is that i cannot get to add or delete records from the database using the navigator... when i add and try to save it i get an error "Update requires a valid InsertCommand when passed DataRow Collection with new rows" and i get a simiral error message when i try to delete something (plus it deletes everything from the database not only the record chosen).. here is the code i use for the add and delete

well, i am working on a project using tables by simply dragging and dropping them on a form.
from a single data set, i dragged 9 tables into 9 forms.. the fill method of tableadapter works whenever the form loads
now my problem here is, there's a problem with my binding navigator that the save and delete buttons aren't working..
this is actually my alternative method. since this morning.. i couldn't make my binding navigator work for my tables (i was surprised to see that there's only one working binding navigator from a single dataset, and because of that, i thought i could just use it to work for my 9 tables instead). still it doesn't work.. and i thought of using different forms for different tables so i could get the binding navigators work perfectly..
and yet, it doesn't make any change at all. still there is problems
is there any way to make this work?
how about adding codes into the delete button event in the binding navigator?

i have a datagridview that has a bindingsource as its datasource and i am wanting to provide Add/Update/Delete functionality on the grid itself. Each record has a delete button which when clicked will remove the row and then add/edit is performed in the grid itself
the user then clicks a save/commit button that will then perform the nessecary updates on all rows
my initial plan was to have a copy of the data (iList) and then compare this to the contents of the binding source data to confirm whether to add/update or delete the record
also upon clicking the delete button i cant get it to remove the row from the datagridview. it thought i could do something like this...

Anyway I have used the delete sql method to delete data from a database, I want to refresh the data in the form after the record has been deleted. Do I have to close the form and then open an new instance of it? or is there another way I can refresh the data?

I am not sure if I can do update, delete and insert in one form. The problem is that in this one form I have 3 textbox and 1 combobox which the user have to enter each column and click on the submit button which is for insert. So how can I do this with delete and update.

I have a datatable populated from an SQL Server 2008 database table. I created a DataAdapter with a commandbuilder to manage the updating, inserting, and deleting of records. The Updating and Inserting work as expected. However, Delete does not. The code runs through just fine without any errors. The number of records in the datatable after the row is deleted even reflects the deletion. The DataAdapter.Update works fine without any exceptions. But when checking the actual table in the SQL DB the deleted record is still there.Here are the parts of my code that deal with this table.

It seems to me, that the bookmarks placed by their editors don't resist against some type of very basical source code modifications. I did searches about the problem, and I've found some signs that other people alse had problems with it, but not so many?
If I insert / delete a line anywhere before a bookmark, after saving the project and reopening it the bookmarks shift up / down by the number of the inserted / deleted lines. in the simplest new windows form application by inserting two lines of code (dim a as integer=0, ...), adding a bookmark at the last one, closing the newly created project, leaving vs, reopening the vs + project, checking the correct place of the bookmark, inserting a new line of code between the existing ones, saving the file, leaving vs, eopening the project, checking the placement of the bookmark having been placed at the last line?
