i have one more issues, and hope is the last for now. How can I limit a textboxe's input to only numerical with certain range of values (eg -10 to 10) and with that happening while I type in the values?

Im trying to write a program that will do:
1.The average of the four numbers. This answer will be placed into a text box reserved for that value. This text box cannot be changed by the user.
2.The maximum and minimum values. These will be denoted by changing the color of the largest number green and the smallest number red.
3.The range of the numbers. The range is defined as the difference between the largest and smallest numbers. The range will be placed into its own text box, labeled as such. This text box cannot be changed by the user."

I have 10 buttons 0-9 And i have 4 textboxes All representing different values (n,e,x,y) Ok so what i want is to be able to use my 0-9 buttons to input the numbers into the boxes. However my problem is How can my program know which text box the mouse cursor is in. Right now, i can only get it to go in one of the boxes That i tell it too by using the textbox's name. Or all of them at once.
SO is there a way that when i click in text box "n" when i click numbers they will go there. Then if i click in text box "e" and click the the numbers, they will go in there?
i want to restrict input of a textbox to only numbers but am doing it on asp.net, so i cant check for each character that is being inputed cause it will cost me a post back and thus lots of time?

View 7 RepliesI just D/L VB express 8, and I'm trying to learn how to use it. what I'm trying to do is write some code that:takes a number into a text box (textbox1.text)do some simple calculations with that number when I press a button (button1)display the results in a second text box 9textbox2.textThe first problem I am having:The numbers are in the "milli" range, meaning to the power of negative three, so 10^-3 = 0.01 I do not want to enter 10^-3 or any other exponent into the textbox, I am simply entering in 10 because all my units will be in milli. I've tried using exponent and scientific notation but it doesn't calculate correctly. I've done a "work around" to get it to do what I want, but there has to be a simpler way to achieve the above results without. for example, the user enters 10 into the textbox, the button multiplies 10^-3 *30, as a crude example, and stroes that value (say, B=10^-3*30) and B is DIM B as Double.
Problem number two:Error checking. I need to validate that only numbers can be entered into the textbox, or else the program will display an error message (messagebox). I can achieve this to some degree with sample code from here and other places, but, some of the code does not take into account that some numbers have decimal places (I have foud code that does, and it does work), but if a users enters, say the letter "E", it crashes the program. If the user enters "10.3Z", it crashes the program. I cannot seem to code for the last case, a mixture of numbers and letters to get an error message box.

how can I determine if a number is 4 decimal places and cut off the last number.. I don't want to round up either.. .3125 should be .312 not .313 and .5 should stay at .5 and not .500.
I want to limit the Textbox to a range of characters in VB. For example, I want the user to enter strings from 5-7 characters. I know how to read user input using textbox but it only can read character and numbers. Is it possible that I want to read user input equation?

User put range of A and B.

I failed to read the equation using textbox. Is it there are other ways that can use to read equation input A+B?I am using VS2005 and VB.Net. I really new in this programming using VB.Net.
Say I am pulling the following table, I would then like to select an ID randomly. I understand how to select a random number using a Randomize() call followed by the relevant syntax but I want to pre-define the range.

I'm making a program as part of a college assignment that requires my to add up the contents of an array. Now the array has 20 places, and the only method I know of atm is:a + b + c + d + e etc...They are all different numbers so I can't just do a * 20, I need a more code efficient way of adding all these numbers up, is this possible?

It seems I have everything working except how to display the prime numbers, the result from the following code displays nothing but zeros so I suspect that the range is not being saved somehow? i need a code to generate all the possible combination of the numbers a user types into the textboxes i have two images (Panel3: the textboxes where added during design time) image2: the textboex were added using the code i gave about
generate all the possible combinations of numbers typed into the textboxes (Example see panel3.jpg image),
The user will type in the desired unique numbers into the textboxes without repetition (Please see the image i did not repeat any number, so can the code detect when a number have been typed twice?) Else when running the program i will be carefull not typing two numbers twice, but its adviceable to detect when a number is typed more than once.
Then the amount of unique number the user will type or supply to the desired textboxes does not matter here and as you can see in the image the amount of numbers in each column is not the same ie it may or may not be same amount (but number must be unique. Please try and see if it can be done to prompt user to enter the amount of numbers to supply in each column)
Then After supplying the numbers just like the one in Image, The button Click will generate all the Possible Combinations of the all the numbers typed into the textboxes in the columns.. Then After generating the combinations in the Listbox, the next Button will be able to delete them from the Universal 90c5 just like the former.
I need a variable divider ex. i have numbers from my textboxes in the range of 20 to 60 i want a divider that will divide them in a range of 2 to 6 so if the number is the lowest 20 the divider will divide him with the lowest of his range number 2 if the number is 40 the divider will divide him with the number 4 if the number will be 45 the divider will divide 4,5 and so on a variable divider.
