i have a login form that works ok. but i need to insert a textbox in it that has to be filled with the real username based on combobox selection. following the code for the login window. That code works OK.

I try to make one application that will first show login form (with textbox for username and password) and when I press login client application send request to server side application that make SQL query (local) and return some values and that values will be listed in main form. I have a form, frm1 w/a combobox, cboLocations, which is being populated using a sql string. There is also a frm2 w/a series of textboxes and other comboboxes. I want it so that once a selection is made from cboLocations, the textboxes and comboboxes on frm 2 are populated with the corresponding data. Here is what I have so far:

What's happening right now is that I make a selection from cboLocations on frm1 and click on the OK button, frm2 loads, but none of the textboxes are populating and one of the comboboxes, cboDepot, shows the different data when you click on the down arrow, but it's not displaying anything it its text field when frm2 loads.
Visual Basic 2010 Express: I have a form with a combobox that is populated with the names of locations from a datagrid which in turn was imported at run-time (Form_Load) from an Excel database. The Excel database (and the datagrid) also stores the information for addresses and phone numbers for their respective locations.
What I would like to do is have the phone number and address text boxes automatically be updated with the proper corresponding data when the user selects a location from the combobox. Whether the text boxes are updated from the datagrid or Excel database is not a concern; I'm mainly looking for whichever way is simpler.
I have a tab control application, each tab loads a particular user control and each of those user controls will then add other user controls that are used amongst other the user controls. For example, I have an "ucQuotes" page and an "ucInventory" page, when the specific tab is selected, the "uc****" user control is loaded on that page, and in the case of "ucQuotes" and "ucInventory" they both use a control called "ucPartNumber"; a user control consisting of a combobox, textbox, and button. I have no issues reusing the shared user controls, in this case. My problem arises with my "ucQuickPrice" control, as it is always present at the bottom of the tab control form (separate from the tabcontrol, but on the same form), and it too uses ucPartnumber.
Here's my issue, as I type into the ucPartnumber combobox, the text I type does not appear in the combobox, it appears in the textbox of the ucPartnumber control that is being used on the tabcontrol page. There are no shared instances of ucPartNumber, nor do I have this issue between typing on one tab page and the text showing on the user control of another tab page.I tried just creating the ucPartNumber controls on the ucQuickPrice control, not adding a new instance of ucPartnumber on the .Load event, and the issue persists.
The combobox(s) in question are bound programmatically with about 40,000 items, ".datasource = dataset.tablename" not to a bindingsource. Autocomplete is set to none, I added code to utilize tool tips and the basic combobox filtering functionality. Is this a bug, or is there something I'm neglecting? I'm about 95% complete with this application, and this just happened today. I made the decision, to just reuse the ucPartNumber control on the ucQuickPrice control (originallly it's size and orientation would not fit, but I added some coding to detect what parent is adding ucPartNumber and to change its appearance accordingly). Before, I made this change, I did not have this problem. And, in trying to go back to how I had things set up before the change, the problem will not go away. if the whole control within a control verbage I used is a bit confusing, let me know and I'll try to better explain what is happening. At this point, I'm going to close and reopen vbexpress, as when I started this ordeal, vb started acting weird and wanted me to save all my work, it usually does this before locking up.

View 4 RepliesI was using 2 forms, the first one has general data capture and the second one is a calendar form. On Form1 I have mulitple windows controls. A Textb ox and beside a Calendar button. When I click on a Calendar Command button, it should open calendar form and once the user selects the date, the date should be placed in the text box on the form1. Identical to this on Form1 I need multiple textboxes that needs date to be captured.I cannot use a global variable for this as I need to validate mulitple text boxes. To explain this, I have a Transaction Date and Date Received. I need to validate whether Transaction date is prior Date Received or not? View 6 RepliesI have a date selector on mdi parent that updates a property when date is changed. When I open a child form, it grabs the property just fine. However if I change the date again after the child is open the date does not change on the child unless I close and reopen the form as expected. What would be the best way to automatically update all open child forms when the date is changed on the parent at anytime? running a timer to parse the date property is impractical.

I am new to vb.net and I am using visual studio 2010. I have two comboboxes on a form, each combobox is set to DropDownList so that a list of items can show in the combobox, but no text is allowed to be entered.

I've been trying to make a app that logs into a website. So far it didn't work for me.I have trouble because:
- The "pin" (username) box on the site doesn't have an ID. (Can't use getelementbyid)
- The picture doesn't have an ID either

I am creating a project in VB.NET in which one of the reports require that the name of employees should be displayed as column names and whatever work they have done for a stated period should appear in rows below that particular column.Now as it is clear, the columns will have to be added at runtime. Am using an ODBC Data source to populate the grid. Also since a loop will have to be done to find out the work done by employees individually, so the number of rows under one column might be less or more than the rows in the next column.Is there a way to create an empty data table and then update its contents based on columns and not add data based on addition of new rows.

For example if the user enters value for just 2 out of 8 fields then How can i update just 2 fields without affecting the rest of the record.
