I'm at a complete loss here, its probably me being stupid and missing something simple but i don't appear to be able to update a testbox (CreditInfo) on Form1 from a module (SerialData). It doesn't give any errors, it just doesn't work. If i put a Button on Form1 to update the testbox(CreditInfo) it works... however i need it to be automatic.. Dave
I am trying to setup a public sub that allows me to customize the look of all forms when they load up. Only thing is, I am now trying to gradient a form and I am getting an error message as follows:
Quote: bounds is not a member of system.windows.form.painteventargs
The next post is my module code and this is how I am calling it
vb Private Sub frmChangePassword_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load 'add some text to the title bar
I was using 2 forms, the first one has general data capture and the second one is a calendar form. On Form1 I have mulitple windows controls. A Textb ox and beside a Calendar button. When I click on a Calendar Command button, it should open calendar form and once the user selects the date, the date should be placed in the text box on the form1. Identical to this on Form1 I need multiple textboxes that needs date to be captured.I cannot use a global variable for this as I need to validate mulitple text boxes. To explain this, I have a Transaction Date and Date Received. I need to validate whether Transaction date is prior Date Received or not? I dont want to use several global variables b'coz I might need multiple validations as above. Please help me on this.
I have a date selector on mdi parent that updates a property when date is changed. When I open a child form, it grabs the property just fine. However if I change the date again after the child is open the date does not change on the child unless I close and reopen the form as expected. What would be the best way to automatically update all open child forms when the date is changed on the parent at anytime? running a timer to parse the date property is impractical.
i have a login form that works ok. but i need to insert a textbox in it that has to be filled with the real username based on combobox selection. following the code for the login window. That code works OK.
Dim conn_login As SqlClient.SqlConnection conn_login = New SqlClient.SqlConnection() conn_login.ConnectionString = "Data Source=SQL;Initial Catalog=orcamento;Persist
I am making a booking system. I am using same form for insertion and updation. How can I update by taking the values from the textboxes. For example if the user enters value for just 2 out of 8 fields then How can i update just 2 fields without affecting the rest of the record. I mean to say that if I use a single update query using all the fields then if some textbox is left empty then it will replace the database field value by null or something else.
I've created an MDI application, on which I launch a macro using a tool bar button. The Sub is located in a module and I don't manage to udpate ToolStripStatusLabel from that sub.My MDI form is called "MDIParentMain"and I use the following code to make changes on oolStripStatusLabel (called "statuslabelMDIProgressbar"):
I have a situation where I have several VB.NET Modules in the same Logical-Module of a large application. I would like the update function of each module to be public, but I would like users to be forced to qualify the function call with the module name.
ModuleName.Update() instead of Update() Is this possible?
My application has a total of 1 form. I have several modules, one of which is a module that handles a background worker dynamically. But what I need to be able to do is update a textbox from the background worker thread. Again, this code is contained within a module, not directly on the main form, so I am totally clueless as to how to make a reference to it. It's easy in WinForms, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it in WPF...
I am trying to figure out how to print from a module. I am trying to print some data from a database. I just want to pass the record id to a sub in the module, and have it print.
I have just one form which is my project however there is a lot of different code behind it, can I add a class or module to it as another resource and call a script from there like I would in say
Private Sub button1_Click ... Handles Button1.Click Call MyScriptToWorkThingsOutAndGetRemoteXMLWebPage End Sub
I have a number of usercontrols that have the same combo boxes on which need to be built each time the form is opened. Instead of putting the code on each form, I have written a generic module which builds the combo box. At the moment, when the uc is loaded, a global variabl is set to the uc's name and the code for combo box in the module looks like this (it's not the complete module, just a snippet of the problem area):
I am developing a VB net application with lots of TextBox. I need to call a module everytime any of the textbox gets focus. I dont want to write code in every textbox gotfocus event, but a generic code which will call the module everytime any textbox gets focus.
I have started developing in vb.net 2008. I want to make a common module to validate all text boxes of my every win form. Common Validation I'm looking for are Length ( Size ) of text box value must not greater then that of field size, It must be of numeric, or alpha only, It must not be empty, if single quotation mark, covered with double quote mark etc.
How can you save a user input string to a resource? I want the user name that the user enters to be saved to a resource so that another form can use it. Or if using a module would work better, how would I do that?
I'm trying to figure out the best way to reference a control on a form from within a module. Unfortunately the form is just an instance, so it's not as easy as calling form.control...
Dim ChildForm As New frmSearch ' Make it a child of this MDI form before showing it. ' ChildForm.MdiParent = Me ChildForm.Show()
That form has an option for printing, which calls another form where certain options are chosen. The print form in turn calls a function in a module, which tries to reference back to the origional form.
childform as new frmSearch -> frmPrintForm -> sub okToPrint (in module Print) okToPrint tries to reference a listview on frmSearch, but can't find it. For Each itmX In frmSearch.lstResults.Items
So the solutions I can think of off the top of my head are:
1. Somehow divine which form is the caller of frmPrintForm
2. Pass ChildForm to the frmPrintForm as a variable to be passed on to module Print..
3. Use frmSearch directly instead of using an instance of it.
Number 1 would be my preference, as I don't want to have to pass forms around like that.
I have a connection module in which I have written the open and close database connection.... if database connection is an error it will return false else if success it will return true the function of the modules will be called from the form code....
what I need is if the connection is an error the module should also get the form name which returned the error...is it possible???
I recently have convert my project from VB6 to VB.NET2008,after the convert here is a sub that control form from a module that i create, the error was something like
"cmdAdd is not a member of System.Windows.Forms.Form" Public Sub ButtonSet(ByRef frmObj As System.Windows.Forms.Form) frmObj.cmdAdd.Visible = True frmObj.cmdCopy.Visible = True frmObj.cmdEdit.Visible = True
How can I edit my a form through a module? I am using this code in the module.
Here is where I get an error: Private Sub ExtendedWebBrowser_NewWindowExtended(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As WebBrowserNewWindowExtendedEventArgs) Handles Me.NewWindowExtended Button1.Text = "New window event just triggered!"End Sub
The code editor will not recognize when I type Form1, and I obtain the following error when I manually type it:form1' is not declared.I sense there is something I can do here which is very easy to fix this, but I have not worked much with Classes before.
he form has a listview control. The form call a function stored in a module VB file. In the function, I will do something. I want to add a monitor in the function. When finish somethings, the function will add some message to the
I am writing a program in VB2010 Express that handles serial port communication. All subs and functions that handle writing to, and reading from the serial port are in a module. These subs and functions are typically called from a form, e.g. by pressing a button. The command is then sent to a device attached to the serial port, and this device replies with a number of bytes as a result. A 'ReceivedDataHandler' is used to handle the serialport.datareceived event. [code]....
