unfortunately searching the web i cannot find a decent example that allows me to loop through a winform to make sure comboboxes items are selected.basically what i would like to do is check the form if the comboboxes have been selected if not then highlight them yellow and set the focus on them.

I have a form with 4 comboboxes and a button. The first combobox is enabled, but the rest of the controls are disabled. When the form is opened I fill the first combobox (cbxMethod) with a datatable. When the user selects something in cbxMethod the next combobox (cbxStudy) will be filled and so on. When the last combobox (cbxAnalyte) has a selected value I want to enable the button and give it focus so the user can move forward with the program. I basically want to force the user to move from one combobox to the other, until all are filled.I am currently using the SelectionValueChange event, but this event only fires when the user changes the value with their mouse or hits the Enter key, not when the user hits the Tab key.

I have the following problem, a table "table1" contains 10000 telephone numbers, this table is source for 5 combo box contained in a form, I need that when I select the first tel N in the first combo, this number is not any more available for the combo 2, when I select the second number in the second combo, the first 2 numbers of the table 1 are not any more available for the combo 3 etc. Every record (in form) contains 5 combo. The Tel N selected into the combo are source for other table called "table2". I've try with all the type of query between table 1 and table 2, and use the result as source for the combo, I've try with IIf but this is works only for the first combo.

I'm using VB 2005 and have an Edit - Entry form with Textboxes and several Comboboxes. I populate the Comboboxes with Arraylists as shown below. I populate a datatable with the Employee data from my SQL Server. I assign the BindingSource1.Datasource to my Datatable then add Databindings to the ComboControls. The (Fields.STAFF_MGR_ID.ToString) is from an Enum. When all is complete my textbox fields Bind and move with the MoveNext.. no problem, but the comboboxes display nothing.

I need to select all the comboboxes on a form with a for each loop. I have about 19 comboboxes and I need to select each one. I tried to do
for each box as combobox in me.controls
But that gave me an error and i now tried this:
for each box as control in me.controls
if box.name.contains("ComboBox") then

That selected only the comboboxes but the problem is i need to access some data that is specific to comboboxes (aka the selected item(s), if its blank) but those properties are not present since "box" is a control, not a combo box.
I have spent a long time trying to find a solution for the problem I am having with comboboxes within a child form. I'm sure this must be a Microsoft error and not something I'm doing wrong..The best way to explain the problem would be to tell you what I have done so far:
If you open a new Project in VB and add two Windows Forms. Form1 will be the parent. Form2 will be the child.On Form1 add 1 x panel(Form2 will open up within the panel so make sure the panel is big enough to fit Form2) and 1 x button. The only code needed for this form is:

The comboboxes and textboxes lose some of there functions for example:
1. You cant set focus on combobox without hitting drop-down
2. You cant highlight text properly in either the combobox or textbox.
3. You cant set the cursor index position using your mouse in the combobox or text box.
Does anyone know a way around this?? Mainly for the combobox as I've got some functions working for the textbox.

I have some code that I want to apply to many objects (Pictre Boxes) and I was unable to loop through the objects via a For loop and am currently forced to copy paste the code for each Image Box.
The Pictre Boxes are named compAlien1, compAlien2 ... compAlien9

so this is the problem our professor gave us. the user given a chance to log-in correctly 3 times, assuming that a user log-in his/her password incorrectly there will be a loop, counting its no. of attempts. and if it exceeds to 3, there will be a msgbox assuming "you log-in incorrectly 3 times" etc. here in my code it counts but the msgbox ("try again") shows 3 times.

View 7 RepliesI am trying to find a way to use the UseCompatibleTextRendering properties on each control on my form. However, it does not seem to be an option when i use the following code below:

ocontrol does not seem to have that option but has all other options for the button. If i do Buttion1.UseCompatibleTextRendering = True then it works just fine.
i have a winform and i have about 30 labels and 30 picture boxes on it. What i would like to do is fill each label and picturebox with a value and image from a backend database. I could have easily done this in vb6 using control struture , for eg.

I did a quick net search and found this which works great for looping through all the buttons to disable them. These buttons are located right on the form.

However...when I tried it on a form where the buttons are contained within a Table Layout Panel it does not work.

View 1 RepliesI am converting a program I wrote in VB6 to Visual Studio 2010 VB.Net and have run into a problem. I am trying to cycle through 20 form elements on a form that all have the prefix 'chkCustomerItems' and then have a number 1 to 20 behind them. I am using this with a database lookup so that it there is a database entry it then applies the database item name to the checkbox's text field and turns visibility on. Here is the code I wrote:

When it runs, I get a NullReferenceException error. This is basically the code that I used in VB6 (with some changes for .NET infrastructure).
I'm translating my VB.Net application, and I need to loop through all the controls on my form. Using a recursive function such as

But there is obviously an inheritance problem, since CommonDialog objects are not controls.
Is there a way for me to loop through really all the items displayed on my form?
Well I'm working on a kind of GameGuard for my private server. Ok so, I want to loop a code, I dunno if I should use Console or Windows Form Application...I dont know how to explain but I'll try doing my best to make this understandable. Ok so I want to make something that will loop this code until the console itself is closed. This code below would simply kill the windows name "Cheat Engine" program if its opened.[code]But If I use a console application, How can I make this code loop every 5 second or so? View 5 RepliesI am trying to create a form which will be fed by an underlying database to create multiple form fields for each entry in an underlying database table. This is for a program to monitor patients under anesthesia, and prior to surgery, the doctor will choose which monitors they will be using. Then, on the actual monitor screen which will pop up every X minutes, there will be a text box and a check box for each chosen monitor. I am relatively new to VB, so I have tried to illustrate what I am needing but using the logic that I know from my previous life in PHP.
I am using DevExpress's layout control to place the form fields, so that is the code in the middle of the first loop (on_load), and I know that part works, I just need to know how to name the fields and then recover those fields and commit the values to the database. (the text boxes are added to the database, the check boxes are used to determine if an entry is made for that monitor- i.e. at the end of surgery if a monitor is turned off). I know that my syntax for naming the fields is no where close to correct, and it probably would not work in PHP, but I remember doing something like this in a PHP application I built long ago. [Code]
I have 5 combo boxes all connected to a database by datasets.
The user should be able to select different items but for some reason when one combobox item is selected, the same item becomes selected for every combobox.
I haven't coded anything regarding the cbx's so why is it doing this?
I have two comboboxes the first one is for order #, the second one is for the amount of order payments, there could be 1, 2, 3... payments for this order. I would like to get all payments to show in the second combobox that relate to the order # selected in the first, process that payment by changing other values in other textbox's. Then have that payment psoted as processed back to the DB table. I have a binding satament, but it pulls all payments, and not just per order. How can I get this to select just by order #?

I have a project in which the comboboxes above the code window, below the tabs have disappeared. If I open and close the project, they do not appear. If I open another project, they do appear. As soon as a open the project where they do not appear, they disappear.

I've been working on a VB project where I use a 1st drop down list to select a movie category and then in the 2nd drop menu, movies from that category will be displayed. The movies are stored in a 2-dimensional array by category. I've been able to edit my array but I'm having problems with my .AddRange() function. I bind the two comboboxes with table. One combo contains product and another contains subproduct. When I clicked first combobox then subproduct of that is filtered in another combo. When I clicked next,previous, it is working properly. But when I go to last record second combo is refreshed means it is not showing proper subproduct. Given the code on 1st combo_selectedIndexChanged. When I go to last record the SelectedIndexChanged event occur.thats why it is not show me last record proper.
