Make VB "react" When There Is More Text In The Textbox?
May 13, 2012
Ok, the title is maybe not so good, but I hope it's okay.. What I wanted to do was to make a very easy "respond machine" also called an AI. I tryed out with this code.
If TextBox1.Text = "Hello" Then
Label1.Text = "Hello"
End If
But if you for example write "Hello :-)" then it doesn't respond.. How can I fix that problem? Maybe some code like this?
im trying to make a program in which if the textbox text and the listbox text are the same order, which they are in the picture, a bluie fonted text saying well done appears. However only the red text appears which is only meant to come when the order of the text in both listbox and textbox isnt the same.
Here is the code that i used for this:
listarrays = name of listbox textbox1 = name of textbox
l is the name of the label for correct answer(blue font)label3 is name of label with red font which should only appear for wrong answer
Dim text As String = Me.TextBox1.Text For Each item As Object In listarrays.Items If item.ToString = Me.TextBox1.Text Then
[code].....
use another textbox instead of the listbox but thats just making itmuch harder for me as I already made the full code working with the listbox. My lecturer told me i need to convert both in string so both textbox and listbox are compatible and i did so (see code above) but the correct label doesn't show?
I want to make a TextBox's Text display like a PasswordBox's Text. Is there any way by which I can do it? I think styling the TextBox may work. I tried to style it using PasswordBox's default style ([URL]) but it didn't work.
How would I be able to make a textbox (counter). text = to something. Following an earlier example, I came up with the code below but it returns an error
On my program i am trying to make a text box's text all caps. An example of this is when you type in a product key to activate Microsoft Office and all the letters are in caps, that is what I need.
When the scrollbars is set to vertical, then I am able to make any changes to the text inside of the textbox, deleting, typing in new text, cutting and pasting, etc. However if the scrollbars is set to both, then the only thing I am able to do is delete the text. It does not allow me to type any text into the textbox. All the other settings are the same as before. How would I make the text region editable with scrollbars set to both?
IN VB.NET (VISUAL STUDIO 2005)I HAVE taken one textbox with some message and want to bold it by using chkbox control when checkbox is checked the text in textbox should be bold otherwise it is regular.i tried the code too many different ways but till now problem is not solved
Currently doing a resistor calculator, have no idea how to make a listbox lists out all the resistor which insert in a textbox. For example, I key in 20 in the textbox, then the listbox will shows all the resistor : "resistor 1, resistor 2, resistor 3.....until resistor 20".
I am trying to make the textbox.text turn italic when textbox.text = "" using:
If TextBox1.Text = "" Then TextBox1.Font.Italic = True End If
However, it says Property 'Italic' is 'ReadOnly'.Also, I am trying to turn the font color to red with a button, and turn it back to black with another.
I have textbox and button1 on my asp.net webform ...I want when i click button1 then the text on the textbox will remain the same as it is ... it will not disappear .... on button click event
I'm trying to make a game shop.the shop has items, and you pick which item you want through a radiobutton. Then it has a textbox that asks for the quantity of how many you want. Then how click a button, and I want a message box to pop up saying "You have purchased # (whatever item)(s)" The radiobutton text has the name of the item.
I tried it and get an error but maybe I'm tring the wrong way. Can a usercontrol inherate an application defined class ie.. could you inheritance a classic rect class into a user control to add the hight and width properties to the control without having to do all the coding all over again? Currently I just declair a private instance of the class within the control and then encapsalate. It would be nice if I could just inherit all the functionality of my classes into controls designed to implament the classes.
I have an object, say Order where if an error occurs, it raises the ErrorOccurred event. If I'm running some code in say, the codebehind for a .aspx page with an public Order registered as WithEvents and I want to check to see if an error has occurred before I run more code, how do I do this? I can't simply check theOrder.ErrorOccurred. Do I have to create a local boolean flag that switches over in the event handler (OnErrorOccurred)?
Example:
Public WithEvents theOrder As New Order Public Sub DoStuff() theOrder.DoSomething() If theOrder.ErrorOccurred Then
Hi, I'm working on a program that reads text entered into a textbox and creates a list of items by separating entries by commas. Everything is working fine, except, because I am using an array to store the items in the list, I have a limited number of entries. This is only a problem because, as it is written currently, each comma counts as an individual entry. Therefore, users can enter ",,," for example, and it would use up 3 places in the array.
I'm looking for a way to check to make sure there is text after the comma before adding an entry. I've attempted to use the .substring command to check the character after, which works until it gets to the last character. Because there is no character after that, it will give an error.
Here is my code for extra clarity:
Public Class frmMain Dim intCounter As Integer 'Stores the # of commas in the string Dim Messages(49) As MessageProperties
I'm working on a web browser named Hyvar.NET and i'd like to integrate a form of shutdown detection into it.
Currently, it simply uses a tri-option setting to decide how it opens - like this
If My.Settings.LoadLastOnStart = True Then frm.wbTab.Navigate(My.Settings.LastOpenedPage.ToString) ElseIf My.Settings.HomeOnStart = True Then
[Code]....
Each variable is appropriately named for its job as you can see.
However, i want to change this to react to correct and incorrect shutdowns - unexpected and user instigated ones for example. I.E: if the settings variable for the detection contained 0x000000, it could indicate a clean exit and continue as normal with a new session, but 0x000001 would indicate an unclean shutdown and present the user with an option of reopening the last session or continueing as normal, like in IE 7/8
This is the only way I know how to obtain the info I need for this equation but if generated again with no input from the textboxes I get an error. Is there anyway to bypass this if its generated a second time with no inputs?
I have been searching for the past hour to try and find a solution, but I have been unsuccessful. Also, I use VB 2008, so the Common Dialog Suggestion would not work.
I want to make a function in VB 2008 with which u can make a textbox change some letters within the textbox when u click a button. So example: Textbox1 has got in it: url...Then when I click button 1, it has to change ....
