Make A Calculator That Accepts Multiple Operations?
May 29, 2010I am trying to make a calculator that accepts multiple operations, similar to the calculator found on Windows.

View 6 RepliesI've got the bulk of a calculator up and working, however it doesn't like multiple operations. For example 3x5+2= brings up 10 (i.e. 3+5+2) and even doing it in two parts doesn't help, if I enter 3x5= I get 15 then +2= gives me 32 (i.e. 3x5=15 15x2=30 30+2=32). Also I am getting trialing zeros in my command line I can't debug.Note that lblcommandline displays the whole function and lbldisplay just displays the current imputted number.
Public Class frmSimpleCalc
'This code is run when the program starts. Here we 'declare' or basically, define which variables we want, what they are and such.
'So, for this example, we need two variables. The number we are CALCULATING and the one which we will CALCULATE FROM.
Dim lCalcNumberMaster As Long 'The master number is the solution, the number stored and displayed when we click equals.

I have a basic calculator that Multiplies A and B to give a result of C.I want to be able to once multiplication occurs then to add the data to 3 column listview where in Colum 0 the value of A will be entered, Column 1 the Value of B and Column 2 C.For every operation done then to follow on the next row and so on until Memory Result button is pressed, which would mean the end of transfering the data.

You need to design and create a program that accepts input of employee name, employee type, and the number of hours worked each week for two weeks.
You must be able to select an employee type. An employee of type Trainee makes $10 per hour. An employee of type Regular makes $15 per hour. An employee of type Manager makes $20 per hour.
The program should calculate the employee pay for the week. The employee should receive 1 times the regular pay for any hours worked over the prescribed 40 hours in a week. The program should output the following information:
-The employees name without trailing or leading spaces
-Regular hours worked
-Regular pay
-Overtime hours worked
-Overtime pay
-Total pay
The Problem that i am having right now is "Displaying " the overtime hours on my "FORM VIEW" i mean i did the math right its just when i type (lblOverHrs.Text = CDec(CDec(OvrHrsWrkWeek1.Text) + CDec(txtOvrHrsWrkWeek2.Text))
Its says the "OvrHrsWrkWeek1 and 2" are not Declared which are..im not really sure where i went wrong..

I have some task regarding do operations on database using ADODB in Vb.NET.regarding using the same record set multiple times?
I have tried on this topic just by closing the recordset after performing First operation and doing second operation e.t.c.
In ADO.NET we have "MultipleActiveResultSets=True" in ConnectionString for SqlDataReader.Do we have any property like this in ADODB?
I have a WinForms app and am trying to add the ability to start up multiple operations based on data entered in a datagridview. The operations must be run synchronously to monitor that they complete succesfully before inserting a row into the DB to indicate that the operation was succesfull. I also have a status event handler on the operation which will return the percentage of the running operation.
So far I am using threads to kick off the operations, however it is updating the progress of just one of the threads. When that thread is complete it is moving on the the next and will work that until completion. I would like them both or more to run simultaneously and be able to report the status of each.
I am basically looping through the rows in the grid and using the values there to instantiate a new class I created. I am then creating a thread and kicking off a sub to perform the operation from the new object. I think I may be close as I know they are all being started, but they are just running one after the other rather than all at once.
I'm trying to make a main menu which accepts user input and then checks inputted password for validity against passwords I hardcoded into an array. Firstly, in the for loop, only the first password index is being checked. I'd like the inputted password to be checked against EACH password inside the ValidPasswords() array.
Second, My for loop isn't doing what I want it to do. I'd like to give the user 3 chances to enter a password... If he/she exceeds 3, it tells them they've tried 3 times and exits the form. Right now, it just loops 3 times and exits without giving the user a chance to try again. If I put a return statement in, it just keeps returning and doesn't loop 3 times.
Public Class frmMain
Dim ValidPasswords() = {"1234", "2222", "8918", "9911"}
'Dim ValidPWList As New List(Of String)
[Code]......
I have an application in which I am running a separate thread.
Dim thread As New System.Threading.Thread(AddressOf Main)
thread.Start()
However, the thread makes reference to an textbox named Output, and it generates this error upon execution:
System.InvalidOperationException was unhandled
Message="Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'Output' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on."
Source="System.Windows.Forms"
(message shortened for space)
How can I make the operations run on another thread, but still use the Output object? I cannot call a subroutine to do that for me, as it generates the exact same error.
The method called is AppendText, by the way.
I have a small code that can start multiple threads in numerous numbers and these threads will perform some calculations and file operations (read and/or write) that are private to themselves (each of the calculations and file operations are independent).But I can not figure out how to make the connection for threads to file operations.

View 1 Replieshow to make a zodiac calculator, I know the basic codes that I need to insert, but I'm creating it in a windows application. The day and year are text boxes that the user can input that particular information, but the month is a drop-down box. My two questions are: Is it okay to delete the private sub of the day and year so I can combine them into one sub? And how do I get the months to show up individually in the code area? Or would I have to delete the drop-down box completely and make it like the day and year text boxes where the user can input the information themselves?
View 6 RepliesI mean not like windows xp which the number and signs are not in the same textbox, but like windows 7 which you can see the whole calculation before pressing equal, and i don't think that compute.datatable can do this because it's limited with the basic signs(+,-,/,*) and it doesn't include the other signs(like : sin,^,root,log), so how to make a calculator like windows 7 one?

I am trying to make a simple resistance calculator for practice. I use text boxes to let the user input the current and voltage, and then a combo box for the units and then a list box to display the results. For some reason no matter which units I select it doesn't convert at all. For example 1/2 will always show up as 0.5 in the list box no matter which units are selected from the combo box. Here is my code.....I know that there is more cases but I only put one to see if it works before I write all of the cases.
Public Class Form1
Dim unitsA As String
Dim unitsV As String
[code]....
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
TextBox1.Text = ""
End Sub
This is to Clear all numbers but I don't know how to Clear just one number. for example i want to do 23 once a user clicks CE, i want to make it show 2
I'm new in the programming area and I'm having trouble making a calculator. My question is: How do I make the calculator work using only the keyboard, without the need of mouse.
I tried this:
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)
Me.KeyPreview = True
End Sub
Private Sub FlowLayoutPanel1_KeyDown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e
As System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventArgs) Handles RESULTADO.KeyDown
If e.KeyCode = Keys.NumPad0 Then
[Code] .....
It only works on the text box called Result. I want to know how do I make work in the whole Class, and if it is possible, to make it work on two different Classes without writing twice the same code.
I want to make a game statistics calculator. For this I choose to make a XML database with the base stats of the characters.
I've made a small XML file in the VS2010 project with 1 class stats and made a list to 10 levels (to lazy atm to write all 85).
the XML looks like this:
<BASIC_CHARACTER_STATS>
<Levels>
<level id="1">1</level>
[Code]....
On the Form1.vb I've to combo boxes, 1 to display class names and 1 for levels.
Also have some Labels to display i.e. the base_STR number. But after trying random stuff to get it linked and closed VB to restart again because it was messed up too much
I'm trying to make a calculator that adds from two text boxes and displays the answer in another box, but It gives an error when someone enters a character. What can I do to display a string error message in the third box if a letter is entered in one of the first two boxes instead of a number?
