how I could make a custom form, by setting the FormBorderStyle to None, and making it transpatent without setting the TransparencyKey to a color...
Because when you set the TransparencyKey property to, let's say 121; 121; 121, and it got a button which got the same color on the ForeColor, and then it disapears...
Here's an example of how it looks like when the form is transparent:

I'm trying to move the mouse pointer to a certain position on the screen.I've done the declarations for both the SetCursorPos as well as the mouse_event, however I keep getting a Declaration expected error at this line: SetCursorPos(x,y),Perhaps something is wrong with the project or vb as well, cause I used an other declaration as well and when I wanted to use that I also got a Declaration expected error.[code]....

Pressing a Hotkey, I want to click the button of another application (a game table), knowing it x and y coordinates, without to move on the screen then mouse pointer, because this generate an annoyng fluttering.atm I use mouse_event, that works fine, but with the fluttering..In you opinion is this job is possible with a direct Api? I tried to hide the mouse with ShowCursor(False), but it works only over my forms, not over the screen...

I have a combobox on an Excel worksheet that I can tab into, then pick my data (located on another worksheet) after activating the "arrow". But the tab or enter key does not allow me to navigate away from the cell after it is populated. The only action that allows the user to move to another cell is by mouse/click to another cell. I am trying to make navigation through though worksheet as user friendly as possible.I can't seem to find any sample code that will take the focus away from that cell using Tab or Enter.
I have no problem with ListBoxes created using the Data Validation method but I have to create a ComboBox control on the active worksheet in order to return the data chosen (in this case a code that corresponds to a description). If this was a Form I wouldn't have any problem as the properties would allow me to set that up, but this is essentially a spreadsheet I've inherited and the current users do not want to go to a Data Entry Form.

I have a program that has two list boxes. I want to have the user right click either listbox and remove an item using the context menu option. I have tried to use GetChildAtPoint (control.mouseposition) but I cannot return a control the mouse is over. I then tried to use the _Click event of the context menu to get the sender, but the sender is the contextmenu control. Here is the code I am using:
Dim ctrl As Control = Me.GetChildAtPoint(Control.MousePosition)
If ctrl Is Nothing Then
Exit Sub

Anyone know why the Mouse_Leave event fires when you don't leave the control with the mouse pointer?Put a large button on a Form so your mouse pointer does not leave it easily. Then try this codeWhen you do, leave the mouse pointer in the middle of the button and then click the button.By the way, if you uncomment the 1st line of code in the Button Click event and comment out the MessageBox, this does not happen. Can someone please explain this behaviour?
Option Strict On
Option Explicit On
Option Infer Off

What does this error mean? I havent modified anything in the designer code, but its giving me an error? WithEvents variable 'Move' conflicts with event 'Move' in the base class 'Control' and should be declared 'Shadows'. The error relates to Friend WithEvents Move As System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewCheckBoxColumn

Someone please explain this to me like you would to a complete idiot.I want to make a shaped form according to an image. The transparency key only works under 16 bit graphics and we all work on 32bit. Then the entire background shows. The clipping is also very un-neat.So how do you shape a form neatly according to an image WITHOUT using transparency key so it will work in all graphic modes?

I have a custom shaped form with a transparency key of black. With the opacity set to 100%, I do not see the garbage around my custom shaped form As soon as I change the opacity, I see a transparent square(my borderless form) around my form.
How do I make it where my form retains its custom shape, and can have an opacity of less than 100%?

I use a lot of picture box, label, and custom controls, all of which are oddly-shaped, and must overlap. In almost all cases, the backgrounds are not solid colored.I am using transparent .png images for the background images of many of these controls (except labels), and using transparent as the backcolor, creating a custom shaped control. However, when these controls overlap, the one towards the front will not show any controls behind it through the "transparent" background. This is getting annoying, because I cannot use any alternate object arrangements. How do I create true custom-shaped forms?
P.S. Some of my controls have extremely irregular shapes, so using simple line and curve drawing functions is probably not an option.

I have need for a customised form as the main page of my app, what I'm looking for is to create an amoebic shaped form, something like this. I realize that my 'window' will by nature need to be rectangular and that i will need it to have no titlebar and transparent edges, also i will need to have 'regions' on this form that will allow the form to be closed and turned into a standard rectangular form. I have no idea where to begin with doing this but I hope and presume it is possible with vb.net. The image I have used is for illustrative purposes only, i don't plan to do exactly this (my app is a database not a media player for one thing) If having it is a breach of copyright in this context I will remove it.

I'm trying to make the move from VB6 to .Net; I know Bill needs the money, but my real motivation is to move my VB6 client-server app to .Net before Bill finishes killing off VB6. My VB6 app uses SQL Server 2005 Database, ADO, and heavy inline queries and some stored procedures. I'm weak on oop, but willing to go there.
My biggest concern so far is not being able to fully use my database w/o extensive redefining.I think Bill went oop crazy and forgot why we use databases. I wanted to bind all objects in my code, but coding the work of the wizards is not coming easy for me. My qt pertains to using ADO.Net or LINQ for database access. I'm going to have to put in a lot of book hours either way, but which way should I go for a client server app? I read that Bill is handing off the LINQ to the ADO.Net team. Is LINQ the future for client server or is it a dead-end?

This is my code:
Public Sub Form1_MouseMove(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As MouseEventArgs) Handles MyControl.MouseMove

The new application that Im building allows the user to create custom Labels and then move them around on a form.I have the labels created successfully using this
vb
Dim lbl As New Label lbl.Text = TextBox1.Text lbl.Font = New Font(lbl.Font, FontStyle.Bold) lbl.Size = New Size(25, 25) lbl.TextAlign = ContentAlignment.MiddleCenter lbl.Location = New System.Drawing.Point(10, 10) lbl.BackColor = Color.DarkGreen Form2.Controls.Add(lbl) lbl.BringToFront()
and I can move around a single label using this
vb
Private Sub obj1_MouseUp(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) Handles Label1.MouseUp Go = False LeftSet = False TopSet = False End Sub Private Sub obj1_MouseDown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) Handles Label1.MouseDown Go = True End Sub Private Sub obj1_MouseMove(ByVal sender As
[code]....
The problem is, is that this code just moves label1. What I need it to do is to move whatever label is selected. The user could create an infinite amount of labels and I do not want to repeat the above code an infinite number of times. Is there a way to make the label selectable, and if it is selected, it uses that name in replace of label1?
