Make A Program That Edit Stuff On Launcher?

I am making a customizable launcher for a game.I have already made the launcher. now I want to make a program that can edit stuff on my launcher. A method that Im thinking is make the editor produce a file that the launcher can read.Are you getting what I mean?
There are 2 buttons in the launcher,1 webbrowser and 1 progress bar.The 2 button are links for the users personal website the webbrowser is for the news panel where they can put there news about the game and 1 progress bar for auto updating of the game.

How do I make a program Launcher? There is 2 items. There is a textbox and a button. The textbox is for the program location and file and the button is to launch it.

I am currently working on a launcher, and it must consist of the following:
- one main routine being called, NO WINDOW may be created at any times after or before this main routine.
- one small form called by the main routine if a certain command was sent through the Command (shortcut).
At this point I use a Windows Form, but it seems a little useless to create and initialize a form if you won't even use it. Any way to make a routine run when my program starts without showing any window? But still make it possible to show that small dialog?
I did this at first but it seems a bit dangerous:

about a week since I started. Now I'll just ask my questions straight away:I want to make a program which allows the User to create stuff, say a survey. What I want them to be able to do is,
1. Decide the headline
2. Decide the layout of the survey
3. Import pictures
4. create new pages, like a form.
And then save this survey to a file which can be opened either by itself or by using some sort of viewer program. And I want the user to be able to put in answers to questions in the survey which wont be visible when you open the file in the viewer program. Now I dont expect you to write the program for me, just give me ideas on how to solve them, where I can learn about methods to get there and so on.

1)How can I make my program get the contents of a .txt file on my website to tell the program to run or not?Here is and example of what I want:Say the file says "Running", the program would run without problems.If the file was to say "Unavailable", a pop up would appear saying "The program is currently unavailable, try again later." Then once the person clicked OK, the program would close.
2)How can I make the program get contents from a .txt file to get the latest version of the program, then if there is a newer version, there would be a pop up saying there is a newer version and they need to update. Then when they clicked OK, the program would close and it would open their default web browser or Internet Explorer to the update page.

I'm trying to make a patcher/launcher for a game. I want it to happen like this. When the user press's the PLAY button, I want it to check if the files are up to date. If they are, then it will run the exe (it will be in the same directory). If I updated a file, say Sound.x, I want it to download it with a progress bar showing. But the thing is, I looked around and I have no idea how to check if the file is up to date or not.

I'm in the middle of making a program launcher. I've been able to make a version of it before, but now I want to add more options for viewing the shortcuts. The 2 main views I'm trying to get are: Icon only and Icon with the name.

I have switched over to a listview because I assume that's what i will need in order to show images. So I guess my first question will be how do I get only the icon from each file and then show it in the listview.

Basically, I'm going for a program that has a NotifyIcon and a ContextMenuStrip working together to create a program launcher. I began by adding all the necessary controls and setting the properties. Next I set up StreamReader for a text file I will be using to save program paths. StreamReader and individual lines of text.
I'm essentially in the dark in this area, and for my program, I'm aiming for the NotifyIcon's ContextMenuStrip's buttons(Long title) to display the names or paths of the program. So I need to add individual lines to each button. I thought I would come back to that, so I moved on to the next thing, adding buttons to the ContextMenuStrip.
I have buttons already in place, like Add Program, Remove Program and Programs(for the actual list) but I need to be able to add buttons to those. Kind of like sub-buttons. If that didn't make any sense, I mean like when you hover your mouse over a button and another menu pops up.

i made a .exe launcher, i was able to launch a program named minecraft using the process.start. But this certain program generates error usually, so what i tried to do was get the window title of the minecraft and categorize if its an error or the actual game.
This is what i did:

So this transfers the window title of the launched program to a textbox then the "if statement" compares it and if its the error, it kills the error and relaunch the program. This is already a working program but i want to make the launching faster, the problem is if i hasten the interval of timer 2, it sometimes kill the non, error program that successfully launched. If anyone can help me, Hide the error or remove it please do help me. Im not yet an expert on vb.net but i want to learn from the best.

I'm creating a program for my workplace which stores hours worked, calculates pay and all that stuff.Problem being, the database will be accessed through the network and i want to be able to select the database from an openfile dialog on first use to locate the database. On every program start up it then would have the database location stored within the program itself.

In my listbox I get a collection of strings in this format:02406L101G0,967S or 12010C2100,978U. I should get this list on a regulated manner.haracters in the seventh,eighth and ninth place (from left side) always make the numbers eg: 101 or 210. Is there a possibility to edit the list of strings (in listbox or a listview) in accordance with the number obtained as a substring (7, 8 and 9 character)?

I am writing a program that will need to edit an XML file and replace it with new data. I currently have working code using XMLWriter functions, but the problem is that it rewrites the whole file, deleting anything it didn't write that time around. i have a problem in creating my program. i am using vb.net 2005. after i finished some modules in my program, i saved it. and the other day, when I'm going to continue my work, i can't be able to edit it. when i run it, the additional features that i created were not found. but, after running my program, i can see my added features in the form. i don't know what to do, because i am not familiar in vb.net, i am just a beginner using it.

I have written a program and everything works fine, but I want to make sure that only the administrator can add or edit users to the system. As I see it, I need to add an argument (if statement) to my login button code to disable the add / edit users button on the main form if the user is not Administrator. [Code] I have tried putting my If statement in but it doesn't happen the button is still active even when I login as admin.

the thing is that i am creating a little launcher shell that will start on a lan-party computer full with games.all the things i am doing with it is for my own use only and will not be used for harmfull stuff. in the other topic i got the intention that they thought i was a cracker of hacker or something.im am just creating a launcher app that launches my games without the use of explorer.exe to be loaded with windows.i have done several things to try to load a game when i press a button but they always crash. when i start the games normally there is no problem.first i thought it needed the use of explorer.exe but when i tested my app with explorer.exe running i got the same result. so i think its my app that is causing the problem.
i have used this:

I have a combobox (combobox1) with a list of countries, Canada, USA, UK as an example. For each country I have a textfile of cities. I choose a country, which populates combobox2 .i.e. I select Canada from combobox1. Combobox2 shows cities for Canada. I also have a button 'Edit Cities' What I want to accomplish is the following:Open some type of text editor (like notepad) and allow the user to either delete or add items to the list of cities then re-save the file back to the resources folder of my program. I have been successful in reading the textfile to a messagebox but of course can't do anything with it.

i got a big project really big one and they need this new solution only because of peach tree, tally are not enough for doing their work. My program should be capable of bulk, multiple data transfer and usage at same time.The real problem is their main program is created 10 years ago in foxpro and they update it every month.!!the reason for they still using that old one, just because of it is highly flexible !
