Lets say I have a basic application with only one text Box inside the application.I need to know how I can edit that text box remotely via a simple XML file on a server so the end users will be able to see the edited texts in th etext box inside of application?

However, I am not using a gridview so editing is not as simple as an edit within a gridview. The modal popup disappears when I click on the edit button. Here is what I have so far, but in the codebehind I get an error saying that my modal isn't declared.In the image below, the little pencil image next to the close button is what I click on to edit the description. When I click on it, the modal disappears, so I cannot edit the text.

I have a gridview that appears in a modal popup that is generated dynamically and is bound to a dynamically generated SqlDataSource. I did this to hopefully take advantage of the gridview's automatic editing capabilities. My problem is that when the edit button is clicked the modalpopup closes due to a full postback in spite of the fact that my gridview is in an update panel. I looked at solutions here and here but neither fixed the problem. I've also tried every combination under the sun regarding the positioning of the ModalPopupExtender in relation to the update panel etc, and have tried changing UpdateMode to conditional as well.

I'm currently generating some excel files using vb.net (2008). I want to protect the workbook or sheet inside, so that the user cannot edit anything within the file.I tried some options from MSDN but no luck and some other forums but no luck.The following is my last few lines of code in the program.

View 11 RepliesI have a combobox (combobox1) with a list of countries, Canada, USA, UK as an example. For each country I have a textfile of cities. I choose a country, which populates combobox2 .i.e. I select Canada from combobox1. Combobox2 shows cities for Canada. I also have a button 'Edit Cities' What I want to accomplish is the following:Open some type of text editor (like notepad) and allow the user to either delete or add items to the list of cities then re-save the file back to the resources folder of my program. I have been successful in reading the textfile to a messagebox but of course can't do anything with it.

I have a need to do some extensive editing on some SGML files. SGML is, of course, just tagged ASCII files. But, I need to convert that SGML to nice, neat MS Word files, with paragraph styles. I need to do extensive searching and replacing. VBA does not have the necesary regular expression support, so, I need to use VB.Net. But, I'm at a loss to do the most basic thing. View 14 RepliesI have is my columns are separated by spaces but these spaces can vary between 1 space and 20 spaces. So would it be possible to replace all spaces with one space? This will mean that each column is seperated by one space and I can then start working on my next bit of coding with deleting columns.

I thought of using comboBox / ListBox to display the list of the coordinates of places.
I want to know how to make this "editable"; ie: anyone using this program should be able to Edit / Add / Delete a coordinates of a place. And the newly added Place should be saved so that he/she can use it whenever it is needed.
