I have a text document that stores around 200 commands ,each on its own line with a value of either 0 or 1 after them. This determins if that command is ON or OFF.
I need to be able to manipulate the on/off values for 5 specific commands using a check box to say "turn this one on" if box is marked. or vice-versa.[code]...
Lets say I have a basic application with only one text Box inside the application.I need to know how I can edit that text box remotely via a simple XML file on a server so the end users will be able to see the edited texts in th etext box inside of application?

I want to protect the workbook or sheet inside, so that the user cannot edit anything within the file.I tried some options from MSDN but no luck and some other forums but no luck.The following is my last few lines of code in the program.

View 14 RepliesI have is my columns are separated by spaces but these spaces can vary between 1 space and 20 spaces. So would it be possible to replace all spaces with one space? This will mean that each column is seperated by one space and I can then start working on my next bit of coding with deleting columns.
View 30 RepliesI have two text files. The fields in each text file are separated by a space (" "). Some of the fields in column 1 of file 1 match the fields in column 1 of file 2. However the third column in file 2 is a numeric field. What I wish to do is check every field in file1 against the field in file 2, and if the number is 1 then remove the row from file 2, if the number is > 1, then subtract one from it.

However, I am not using a gridview so editing is not as simple as an edit within a gridview. The modal popup disappears when I click on the edit button. Here is what I have so far, but in the codebehind I get an error saying that my modal isn't declared.In the image below, the little pencil image next to the close button is what I click on to edit the description. When I click on it, the modal disappears, so I cannot edit the text.

I found this code on here to open a text fille, do a find & replace then save the changes, and the code is in a loop that will do that to every file in a given folder. My question is I also have files in sub folders, and more sub folders, and i'm not sure how deep it goes. I want to recursivly go though all the sub folders and do this to all the files, not just the files directly in the main folder.

View 7 RepliesI have a gridview that appears in a modal popup that is generated dynamically and is bound to a dynamically generated SqlDataSource. I did this to hopefully take advantage of the gridview's automatic editing capabilities. My problem is that when the edit button is clicked the modalpopup closes due to a full postback in spite of the fact that my gridview is in an update panel. I looked at solutions here and here but neither fixed the problem. I've also tried every combination under the sun regarding the positioning of the ModalPopupExtender in relation to the update panel etc, and have tried changing UpdateMode to conditional as well.

I have no code specifically for this part of my project just saying this ahead of time.I have not used text files that are inside my project but I want to be able to open the file when I load my form and save it when I close my form.I know how to save manualy and same with opening but that defeats the purpose this has to do as much as possible on its own.All I have are code from a project I made a while back which was a notepad program.[code]however I need this to all happen on its own and it needs to install these text files with the program hence why they are in with the project there are about 30 text files that will need to be with it so if I can get help with one then I can figure the rest out.
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to open a text file that was already generated with info inside.I want to read specific lines and have them changed via user input.the lines are not consistently on the same "line".An example of the text I'm trying to read and change is:

The "H" in hullLevel shows up in line 26 in some of the files, line 27 in other, line 36 in some others and line 37 in yet others.
The reason this jumps around is that this comes from a file that is edited by other modders when they create a ship for a game that I'm modding.My program is designed to allow the user to visually see a representation of how strong and well equiped a ship is and change the values of each line with a slider bar.I have all the slider bar and progress bar code worked out.
I just need a way to reliably pull these lines no matter where they are from the ship file chosen by the user so that the program can edit them without disturbing the rest of the text in the file.
One of the features of my new Vb game is the ability to modularly add and remove in-game items. However, in order to add these items I figure their effects should be recorded in code in the text file they will be stored in.In short, I want to store code in a text file and then have it run on command
