I'm trying to make a screen recorder using Visual Basic 2008 Express, and everything seems to be smoothlike... until I actually try to record with it. The actual error I am receiving is as follows.A first chance exception of type 'System.Runtime.InteropServices.ExternalException' occurred in System.Drawing.dll The particular line of code that it seems to be having problems with is the following.

I wanted to make a screen recorder (not screen capture) program, but I am not entirely sure how to get it started. I have seen many videos and things on how to make one, but all of these just take multiple pictures and then don't compile them into a movie file, and I don't want to take many pictures (unless that is the only way possible.) I am using Visual Basic 2010 Express and I have looked at the Windows Media Encoder, but I can't seem to figure out how to use/implement it (yes, I have downloaded and installed it.) Maybe I can use some kind of ActiveX control?

I am working on a web project where content security is client's first priority. I need to create a windows app which will track if the user while visiting the website, is running any screen recorder. If he is, I need to log him out. I have knowledge on c#, vb.net. making a screen recorder. make it take a screenshot 15-30 times a second, and for each shot there will be a text file that will say the location of the cursor when the shot was taken and what the cursor was, like loading or whatever. Then when the user presses save, it will take all the shots, import the cursor in each one and then create an AVI using each of the frames that were initially shot. Another better way would be to take a screenshot with the cursor in it, if thats possible.

I was looking up how to make a screen recorder when I ran into a source code that uses Windows Media Encoder SDK. I tried it out and it crashes saying that Data Execution Protection stopped the program. So, I debugged the program and found that when it creates a new instance that this is the cause of the crash. I am trying to make a VB project for use on a touch screen so I require buttons that when pressed load a different image (the selected version of the image) ie. I know how to do this in HTML and CSS for use in web pages but am struggling to find out how to do it in VB.I have an image (looks like a button) that I want displayed in my form window and then when the image is clicked I want the image to swap for another image so to the user it looks like they are pressing a button.Now the standard windows button in VB (ie when you drag a "button" from the tool box) does this but I can not replicate this using my own images.

I'm trying to make a little game using VB .NET 2008 Express Edition.The game is comparable to the Everybody Votes channel on the Nintendo Wii (if anyone has ever seen it). You can submit questions to a online database. Then, if the question is accepted, users can vote on it and other accepted questions. The questions are on a timer and when it hits a certain point (after a couple of days or so), the questions can no longer be voted on and the results are displayed. Since the details of the users account, the questions and the results would be in a database online, the program would also track some fun little aspects of their voting habits and stuff.
Onto my question though, how difficult would it be to pull something like this off? Especially for someone with no experience using an online database with VB .NET? I'm not foreign to the basics of VB .NET by any means, I've taken several courses with it in college and worked with offline Access databases, but taking it online is something completely new to me.
