I am testing the FFT function of Naudio, but with the tests that I did in audacity it seems that FFT does not detect the pitch correctly. I played an C5, but the highest pick was at E7.I changed the first dropdown box in the frequency analysis window to "enchanced autocorrelation" and after that the highest pick was at C5.

Nov 3, 2011Im still a bit newb to coding in Vb but Im trying to figure out how to make a simple inventory system for my video game. I need it to do a few simple things and Ive never made a inventory system before so im a bit lost on how to approach it.
Functions Needed:
Player has 40 pb that act as the visual inventory or display the item in that slot.

I set up my armor menu to allow drag an drop of the item but again not sure how to even get the inventory system created to finish the armor menu to allow the object to be dragged into its box and remove its self from the player inventory.I think I need to make a array for 39 or 40 in my adventurestorage class. That part Im pretty certain of but how do I set that part up? I have over 200 images that need to act as a item that can be dropped into the inventory.

Yup,not PHP but it's the same for readability)As you may imagine I want to make a simple text based rpg game, but that's not an important fact.The buttons btn1 to btn3 are already created at the designer, and there are going to be other procedures which will assign values to their text property according to the game context (main menu, combat, shopping, training, etc.) you're at.Ok, so what I want to do with that procedure I pasted is to parse the text of ANY of those buttons when I click them, and according to its value select a case which will trigger another appropriate procedure (now there are only msgboxes as placeholders for testing only).My problem is that I dont know how to refer to the originating class of the handled event! I mean, let's say I click btn2. I'll want to immediately get the text property of that button only and use it as the value for the select case tree. I suppose I need to put something at that ?I wrote there, but I don't have any idea. The first time I was so naive to put me.text in there, and of course it returned the form name. Is there's something to do this thing...? I thought at first it would be a very simple task, but I'm going nuts searching for a solution so it's like if it was not possible, but I find hard to believe that, because this would be very useful, right? By the way, what I want to achieve is not needing to make a separate procedure for each button and to avoid as well the need to move any game option to another procedure if later on I want to rearrange the menus, because I expect the game to have more than three buttons actually.
Possible To Make Program 'self-destruct' (delete Itself) When It Closes?
Sep 30, 2010Does anybody know if it's possible to make your program 'self-destruct' (delete itself) when it closes? I know this sounds like malware, but it's not. What happens is the user clicks 'install', the application copies itself to another directory, then the application starts the new copied file, with an argument that begins the installation, kills itself, and then the copied application restarts and then it's done. But I can't get rid of the original executable.

Feb 19, 2010I have a VB program that displays a PDF file. When the program is closed it takes 30 seconds or so before AcroRd32 process releases the PDF file. In certain circumstances if the program is restarted with in this period, the PDF file does not display. The specific circumstances is that I have a second program (re)starting the program that displays the PDF file.
a) Make the PDF file be immediately released when my program closes
b) When the PDF file is loaded test that it properly loaded so that it can be reloaded if necessary.

May 4, 2009I'm trying to make a per-user shell for a Vista box to simplify use of a particular system for my users. I have no problem making a program that I want to use and I am familiar with the process of editin the registry to make my program the users shell but I've run into a snag.
Whenever a user with the custom shell logs on, there is a delay just after they enter their password where the system will sit at "Preparing Desktop" for about 30 seconds. I know for a fact that the user desktop is already made and this shouldn't be taking that long.
I've poked around on the web and see various places saying that winlogon is waiting for the shell to flag a "shell ready" flag of some sort but I am unfamiliar with any such flag.
Anyone know of such a fix for the long login time or anything about a shell ready flag?

May 1, 2012I just have a simple vb.net website that need to call a Sub that performs a very long task that works with syncing up some directories in the filesystem (details not important).
When I call the method, it eventually times out on the website waiting for the sub routine to complete. However, even though the website times out, the routine eventually completes it's task and all the directories end up as they should.
I want to just prevent the timeout so I'd like to just call the Sub asynchronously. I do not need (or even want) and callback/confirmation that it ran successfully.[code]...

Here i tried to make a simple program that can create a text file with the content of what i type on the textbox, basically i create the file if it doesn't exist, and if it already exists i append the content to it. Once the file is saved i can read it using the "Open" button. Unfortunataly, whenever i try to create the file, the compiler gives me an error saying that it cannot modify a closed file, although i've followed up the execution instruction by instruction and i can't find the error.

Dec 17, 2008So my question is, I'm wiriting a VERY basic dice rolling program for my computer programming class in high school. I'm using a randomize function to generate numbers but I only want it to do numbers 1 - 6....how do I do this?

That is my code for my x and y (each die) to generate code, but how do I make it do 1 - 6 ONLY? Develope a game that in which a player rolls two dice. Each die has 6 faces. Each face contains 1, 2,3,4,5,6 after the dice have come to rest the sum of the spots is calculated, if the sum is 7 or 12 on the first throw, the player wins. If the sum is 2,3, or 11 on the first throw, the player loses, and the house wins. If the sum is 4,5,6,8,9,10 on the first throw the sum becomes the player's point. To win, a player must roll the dice until the plater rolls the point value. The player loses by rolling a 7 before rolling the point. I also have another question, How would I set this up to keep up with points and stuff? and the part that says "The player loses by rolling a 7 before rolling the point." I have no clue what to do on that. I'm not asking for code hand outs. I'm just asking what functions and such I'd use to write the code.

Now before getting upset that I want to make the game go I just want to say that I have looked for months for this specific thing and I still have yet to find it. I want to make something to simulate go so that two people can play on the same computer. The problem I ran into was capturing stones. Stones are captured when surrounded and then they are taken from the board. The problem is that I don't know how to make the program know when a black stone is surrounded.
I have thought of a grid detecting but the possibilites on a 19x19 area are too high for anybody to sit down and program. I have also thought of using picture boxes and the edges to detect other pictures, but there are ways for stones to group together and the opponent must surround all stones to capture them.

It has no errors but it doesn't take away the credits each time the game is played besides the first time. So when I run the game it will go to 8 credits, and it will stay on 8 credits even if I run the game again.
