How can I get the three result sets using SqlDataReader? Or even three SqlDataReader's? Or is it possible to get multiple result sets in just one query in VB.NET? Is DataSet my only option?
I have a DateTime object I want to compare against an sql datetime field in a where clause. I'm currently using:
"where (convert( dateTime, '" & datetimeVariable.ToString & "',103) <= DatetimeField)"
But I believe datetimeVariable.ToString will return a different value depending on the culture where the system is running.
How would you handle this so it is culture independent?
EDIT : I won't be using paramatised sql in this code...
EDIT : following Parmesan's comment to one of the answers looks like the best method may be:
"where (convert( dateTime, '" & datetimeVariable.ToString( "s" ) & "',126) <= DatetimeField)"
When I want to insert datetime to database. Sometime is good but sometime is error. This is the code:
datetimesales = format(now,"dd/MM/yyyy hh:mm")
im in the middle of doing sql queries i can search my data base usingGetDateFrom (Select, from, where) Me.nameTableAdapter.FillBy(namenDataSet.descip, Me.box1TextBox.Text,Me.box1TextBox.Text, Me.box2TextBox.Text, Me.box2TextBox.Text)i have this working fine im struggling with inderting data to my databse i have made the query ..
INSERT INTO `details` (`Forename`, `Surname`, `Username`, `Password`)
VALUES (''& ForenameTextBox.Text &'', ''& SunameTextBox.Text &'', ''& UsernameTextBox &'', ''& PasswordTextBox &'')

I have a simple table 'tblTest' with 3 fields:
[Code]...
testDB.Execute sqlNOTE: If I run the query without the Date field and Date variable it executes properly. I know that its all in the date formatting.
I am not sure if this should be in the SQL or vb.net section.But, Basically I have a vb.net application from where I insert a datetime field into the SQL Server Database. Now for some reason the SQL server field(which is datetime) will not display AM/PM, I have referred this link where my code looks like this:
Dim dateToDisplay As DateTime = DateTime.Now dsNewRow.Item("date_created") = dateToDisplay.ToString("MM.dd.yyyy hh:mm:ss tt")
I tried stepping into the code by debugging and it seems to be inserting the PM but is not displayed in the table QuotedateToDisplay#8/12/2011 6:01:06 PM#Date
I do have the following problem extracting records from a datatable, based on date.
I am using Datatable.compute to sum the relevant rows, at least I'm trying to!
CrTot is a variable of type double
BankTrans is a datatable
dteRecDte is a datetimepicker component
CrTot = BankTrans.Compute("sum(bank_amount)",
"bank_amount > 0 And date_bank_reconciled <="
& dteRecDte.Value.Date)
doing the sum calculation on it's own works properly. I now need to check that the date of the "date_bank_reconciled" field is less than or equal to the value of the date entered in the datetimepicker "dteRecDte.Value.Date", so that only rows with a date either less than or the same as that in the datetimepciker are returned.
i have datagrid bind to datatime that has one coloumn datetimeI want that user press space bar inside datagrid cell and i want insert current datetimei try so
If e.KeyCode = Keys.Space Then
dgrdVisite.Item(dgrdVisite.CurrentRowIndex, 4) = DBNull.Value
dgrdVisite.Item(dgrdVisite.CurrentRowIndex, 4) = Now.Date.ToShortDateString
[code].....
How can I achieve this. Insert Null Value into SQL Server DateTime Field?
View 5 RepliesI am developing a Windows Forms application using VB.NET in VS 2008 on Windows XP SP3 32-bit. When I try to insert into an MS Access Database table using the following code, I get an exception on the last line with the message "Error in Insert statement". When I paste the same statement as a SQL query in MS Access itself, it works just fine.
Dim oCmd As OleDb.OleDbCommand
sQuery = "Insert Into DirectoryShares (directoryID,username,read,write) Values (?,?,?,?)"
oCmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text

I have searched everywhere to find a solution for this. I am a beginner and in a tutorial i have seen they did it with access DB without any problems. i did the same but for SQL CE DB, i probably did something wrong or missed some steps.
I'm moving over date.oledb commands to SQL ones and wondering what the equivalent to executenonquery here is? This is what I have at the moment and I can bind select queries to datagrids no problem how would I get the DBCommand to execute the query?

I am connected to a SQL Server Compact Edition Database. One of the tables involved has 3 columns - CompanyID, CompanyName and CompanyNotes. I have created a form in Visual Basic to add a new company to the database, and of course I don't want the user to have to manually put in the company ID.
In the dataset.xsd I have created an INSERT SQL query that simply inserts a new row with the CompanyID, CompanyName and CompanyNotes. I have set the CompanyID to auto-increment. However, when I tried inserting the name and notes it didn't like it because I set the ID field to be mandatory. How will I insert the new company data into a new row with a new ID?
The very basic code I currently use for adding a new company:
Private Sub btnSave_Click(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnSave.Click
Me.CompanyTableAdapter1.AddCompany(??????????, txtCompanyName.Text,

What's wrong with my code, the query seems to be fine, I tried executing it on phpmyadmin.

I got this error: ERROR [42000] [MySQL][ODBC 5.1 Driver][mysqld-5.1.36-community-log]You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 1
I am trying to add data to another column in my table.I have the following string insert which works:"insert into MyTable(ImageID,Image) values(" + TextBox1.Text +"," +" @pic)"The data I wish to add is in TextBox2.How do I correctly concatinate it?

View 1 RepliesI am trying to to an insert query on my MySql db using VS 2008/VB. I have this query: Insert into allservices StartDate....) values ('" & Me.datesched.Value & "', ....) When I use the single and double quotes, as it is above , I get this error: Quote: Incorrect date value '21/10/2009' for column StartDate at row 1
when I remove the single quotes and have only the double ones I get a completely different thing. The date inserted to the database is 01/01/0001. Even if my datetimepicker has a min and max date. Also if someone has any good links on using mysql with vb.net
I am trying to run what I thought was a rather simple parameterized insert query, but am running into all sorts of problems. SQL EXPRESS 08R2, VB.net

And why isn't there a query to just INSERT a whole record at a time, based on a DataSource, or is that a better kept secret than what REALLY happened during the final hours of the Titanic?
Also, I'm under the impression that the default CommandType is Text.
Showing Syntax error in Insert Query.[code]but i have checked the query and tested it but there is no error.[code]
