Mobile Application Cannot See Remote Sql Server?

I would like to develop a very very very simple application which will connect the MS SQL SERVER in my notebook and will be run at hand terminal-with windows mobile 6.Here is the code which i used :

Scenario: I want to develop an application.The application should be able to connect to my remote server and download data to the local disk , while downloading it should check for new files and only download the new ones simultaneously creating the required(new) folders. What am i doing?: The app first checks for internet connection , if available pings the server to check if the server is active.Then it has to download the new files.
Problem: I have no idea how to compare the files in the server with the ones in the local disk.How to download only the new files from the server to the local disk? What am thinking?: If i can create the exact folder structure(hierarchy) in the local disk as it is in the server...than i can download the new files accordingly to folders by maintaining some index file in both server and local disk.

I need some pointers on which .NET technology to use for a project I'm working on. I'm building a "dashboard" digital signage WPF program that will display various things on a large monitor mounted high up in the ceiling of my office.What I need to be able to do is control certain aspects of this program from my desktop. For example, there will be a TV window in the application with signal being provided by a TV tuner on the mini-computer connected to the monitor in the ceiling. What I want to be able to do is make a remote control to be able to change the channel etc. I'm confused at what technology to use. I've read about remoting, WCF, and simple TCPclient classes but I'm confused at which one would be better. I'm thinking it may be better to use WCF because what I think I need to do is make a function that will change the channel and accept channel numbers, etc from the remote control program. Am I on the right path?

I have an issue with my code. The application interacts with a MySQL database on a remote server, I have access to this server. When my app is running the insert into code I m getting this error: "Conversion from string "INSERT INTO phpvms_fsspireps(pil" to type 'Integer' is not valid."

I am having trouble in creating a login form in my windows application.If i create a login form with its database local to the system ,it works fine .But my requirement is that the database is placed on a remote server so that the login is secured.When the user tries to use the application he first needs to login.When he puts the username and password in the login form it should send the data to a remote server for authentication.

I have developed a VB.NET program using a strongly typed dataset. This dataset has its connection to a SQL Server 2008 R2. The software should now be additionally used offline. The database should be exported to a *.sdf database. If no connection to the SQL server is produced, the software have to try to connect to the *.sdf database.I would like to achieve:
1. Export the data in the SQL Server 2008 R2 database to a local *.sdf file.
2. This *.sdf file has to work as an alternate connection string in the strongly typed dataset.

I have an application that is written in VB.NET, using the System.Windows.Forms.Form as the front-end GUI. It runs perfectly on my Windows machine however recently there is a business requirement to convert this application to run as a web application so that people could view them in their blackberries when they go to the URL. It is a chat Server that can interact with a mobile Platform.Now If a Exception occurs in OnStart Sub you have no way of knowing there was an exception other than the misleading messagebox.I've Pinpointed the Exception to my fairly Simple log Class that Writes to a log file. i would like to build an inventory manager application that would have two versions :1. Would run on the desktop 2. Would run on windows mobile 6 I would like to have both these versions store and read data from a database that can be stored centrally either on a webserver or somewhere on the LAN.
I would like to know can i use Access as my backend database or sql server ? will windows mobile app be able to access it and read and write to it Note : I would prefer to create only one database that will just store the details in the tables and do not need any other functionality. All functions such as save,edit,delete,search,filter etc with be done from the FRONT-END VB.NET interface ONLY If you suggestion involves the use of 2 databases such as one for desktop version and one for windows mobile then please also tell me how would i sync the data between them.
