I added a msgbox to show me what the path to the server is and this is it.Click OK and it gives me the error above.So I changed the "ofd.Files.FileName to ofd.Files.SafeFileName My msgbox now shows this:Then VS throws en error saying it can't find the file in the projects debug folder so I move it there and run the program and it uploads. I noticed that in the first msgbox it has forward and backward slashes could that be my problem or is it something else?

May 11, 2010I attempting to download 6 files from my FTP site to a local server using VB 2008.After 1 or 2 files are downloaded I am geeting an error Bad sequence of commands.It appears the ftp connection is not closing then re-opening.[code]Then I change the file name. After the 2nd or 3rd file, I get the error message.How would I close the connection and reopen it without having to close the program?

Jul 31, 2011First off, I am new to ASP.net, so this is new territory for me.I am using Telerik controls on a VB.net project. I get the following error as a javascript error for every action on the form. Changing any value, whether its a telerik slider, a radio button, asp:button, submit button, telerik rating. Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: An unknown error occurred while processing the request on the server. The status code returned from the server was: 500
I understand that the 500 error is an error thrown when the server doesn't have any more details, however I was hoping someone might have had a similar situation and can point me the right direction as I have a good feeling it has something to do with the Telerik controls.
I was able to submit the form using javascript however then I get the following error, and I don't know if they are related or not.Validation of viewstate MAC failed. Jun 29, 2009I have several programs that I wrote in Visual Basic.net 2003 that I run from a server at work. We upgraded to Visual Studio 2008 recently and I converted my code to that version. I rebuilt the .exes and tried to run it from the server. It said I needed to upgrade the framework on the server, which I did. Now when I run the .exe file from the server I get a runtime error:

Aug 13, 2010I am trying to do something fairly simple.. allow my user to import thier data from Excel into SQL Server, where it can be used by the application.To do this, I'm using the fairly simple code that is common everywhere I look:

Now, on my development computer this code works perfectly. The data imports, and I can go on my merry way.
On the TEST computer, this code throws the error: "ODBC -- Connection to {SQL Server} servernamesqlservername failed." This seems very odd to me, because I'm using exactly the same SQL Server and database to interact with the application, and all the other screens in the application work perfectly. The test computer CAN connect to this SQL Server, but it keeps throwing this error whenever I try import data from Excel.I've tried everything I can think of - using the server's IP address instead of the server name, sending the SQL Server administrator data along with the request, taking out the Trusted_Connection=Yes... nothing works. What is going on here? How can this code work fine on my computer, and hiccup on another?

Access Remote Sql Server Using .NET?
Apr 16, 2009I've found a few examples of using vb.net to access an sql database, so far none of them have worked . They all involve using DataReaders. Maybe its the fact that the sql db is not on the same machine as the application.I was just wondering if anyone had a more comprehensive example of using VB.NET to access a remote sql server.
EDIT:I've received a few helpful comments an replies already. So far my connection string looks like:
"server=sqlblah.myhost.com;uid=myuser;pwd=pass;database=testdb"
Probably also good to mention their is no editing of the tables a this point, just reading.
