Navigate To The Page, Just Execute The Command?
Feb 19, 2010
I'm trying to send an HTTP command using VB.NET and I'm not quite sure how to do it. I don't want to actually navigate to the page, just execute the command.[URL]..
What I'm doing is building an integrated interface for my XBMC home theater, and my home automation.

I'm using a webbrowser control in my program and I navigate to a page that uses sessions. I need to delete them somehow and I tried to close IE and enter it again and it worked, the sessions were deleted. But I've done it manually, and I need to do it through my program, so is there a way to imitate the closing and reopening of my webbrowser control?

I'm using a WebBrowser control in my current program in a bit of a bastardized way: I don't use it visually, I just use it because I'm more familiar with its events.
So, basically, I create a WebBrowser control and navigate to a page to login. Then, when logged in, I create a new WebBrowser control and navigate to a different page.
I've used this program for four months with no difficulty. Starting today, though, the second phase of that has been going really, really slowly. What used to take 3-5 seconds is taking 25-30 seconds. It still works eventually, it just takes a while.
Usually I would assume this was a server problem. However, navigating to the exact same URL in Firefox happens extremely quickly. Weirder still, within the program there is a user WebBrowser control -- I can copy/paste the URL the previous (not visible) WebBrowser was navigating toward into this user WebBrowser, and it goes just fine.
What in the world could be holding up this other "custom" WebBrowser? I don't even know where to begin in diagnosing this.It might be important to note that the site this is working based off recently underwent some changes -- but I can't imagine why that would affect only these "custom" WebBrowsers and not the user one in the same program.

I have writtine a program in VB 2008 that uses "webrowser1.navigate" in a browser that I created on a form in my application, so that I could add buttons for other functions on that Form and to load a web page with Flash content. Everything seems to work fine on 32 bit machines but, on 64 bit machines when the web page is loaded, Falsh content does not work and I get a Security Warning asking "Do you want to install this software?" and the software is Adobe Flash Player. IE is 32 bit (on 64 bit machine) and has Flash Player installed and the Flash content works for this web page using IE.Is ther some code that I should add or a property that I should change on the VB 2008 Form containing the browser that I created, so that the Flash content will work?

I have a VB.Net project that creates a new Webbrowser instance which then navigates to a page in order to read the HTML into a variable ( then modify this before displaying in a visable webbrowser). The issue i have is that the webbrowser navigate just reads the page from the cache and does not read it from the server.

Its something in the syntax for the command.
They provide this example in VB:
Dim MtbApp As New mtb.Application
Dim MtbProj As mtb.Project
Dim MtbCom As mtb.Command
[Code]....
what I'm expecting should happen is Minitab should open, and the command should execute. However, whats happening is that two instances of Minitab are being opened and neither are showing user interface, I have to find them in processes.

I am trying to execute a shell command with vb.net that includes variable from the vb.net code.I have experience with batch, and Unix scripting. I had to modify the contents of the code as it is confidential to me at the moment.Example of my problem:
Dim Variable1 As String = "Location_to_.exe"
Dim Location As String = "UNC_Path_Goes_Here"
Dim Options As String = "/Options go here"
Shell("cmd.exe", /C Variable1, Location, Options) This is something that must be run from CMD.exe and I am trying to do it this way to make it as dynamic as possible.

Lets just say we have this as Command1 Dim Command1 = "whoami.exe >> C:Hello.Txt" The program will read a list of users from a text file and then perform the action on each of them. If the user does not exist, or they are part of a password protected computer, I would like to see that in my printout. I have this but am Unsure how to write the If Then Statement (If that is the ebst route to take)

I need to convert a .tex file to a .dvi file (latex file), which I can do simply using a command in the cmd window: "latex C: est.tex" for example, would create the "test.dvi" file from the "test.tex" file.
I know how to start the cmd window (Process.Start("cmd.exe")), yet how to get VB to actually 'type' a message and execute it...

I've done a little bit of LINQ but I almost exclusively return some elements from a collection based on some criteria. Now I'm trying to do something similar; let's say I have 50 winForm Controls in a collection - I want to set the .Visible property = True based on the controls name.
How would I do that? Below is my failed attempt.
myControls.AsEnumerable.Select( Function (myControl as Control) ( myControl.Visible = (myControl.Name <> "Hidden")) )
It compiles and even executes but does nothing.

Where in my code behind can I place the Insert() command to make sure only after my valSubmit() function in JavaScript have executed it will then execute the Insert Command?
