I was wondering if it's possible to access information from within Visual Basic about WIFI connections, such as their SSID, MAC address, ect. I don't know whether I have to add a reference, what commands to use, ect.

I am interested in monitoring information (e.g. Channel, AP MAC Address) about the Access Points that I am connecting to to location where in the facility a given Tablet PC is operating in.I have been unsuccessful in finding any code samples/snippets showing information on how to retrieve this sort of information.

There are about 5 laptops which connect to the wifi router to access internet. Network is password protected so anyone with a valid network key can connect and access internet.
I am planning to develop a local website which will be having a list of username and passwords. I will also remove the password of the wifi network so that anyone can connect.
If a connected system tries to access a web page in the internet then redirect them to a Login page (in the local website) and ask them to login. Once successfully logged i,n the mac id should be added to "Allow" list and monitoring starts. Internet should not be available for those who don't have a valid username and password.
I was thinking about developing the application to block/allow internet access though a vb.net/c# application.
I am okay with the website part. What I would like to know is
How I can block/allow internet access through the .net application. Is it possible in .net or should I be going for an unmanaged code development? If it is possible where is the best place to start? I have experience in winforms development but not much of network programming. Will there be any change in my current wifi setup? May be a new webserver/proxy server which will host the website and the windows application?
I am new to VB; am developing my first VB program; and require some help in getting started. I wish to query information from an Active Directory server using a Visual Basic 2008 console application. I have .NET Framwork 3.5 installed and VB 2008 Express installed. Do I need to install anything else (any additional libraries or components)? Is VB 2008 Express capable of accessing information from Active Directory? Where can I find information about the classes and methods I should use query information from Active Directory?

I have no experience what so ever in using any database with VB.NET let alone MySQL.Just FYI, at the moment I am only trying to Query the database to gather the information required to activate. The Activation wizard and algorithm building (which is finished anyway), and everything else will come soon. So, here goes nothing, this is the Query code I am using in PHP to complete the job I want to do in VB.NET. [code] As you can see, I basically need to get the PHP code into VB.NET to fit into the 'btnQueryDB.Click' Command in VB.NET. By Equivalent, the Product ID in VB.NET will come from 'txtPID' and similar, Serial Number will come from txtSNUM. Once counted to be 1, the Activation Code and Status will be fed into 2 other text boxes in the form. (acCode, and acStatus).
I have wrote an application that works fine using wifi but now i have to come up with something a lot stronger that wifi. I'm talking about a distance of upto half of a mile. The application just receives a small string message once every few minutes.

Suppose the grid's origin is 0,0 at the upper left corner, and 0 degrees represents north. I have a point A on that grid. I want to know if a line from point A to point B on the grid is within a range of directions between 111.8 degrees (a little south of east) and 158.2 (a little east of south). Those are approximations; the 111.8 is 90 degrees plus the arctangent of 2/5, and 158.2 is 180 minus that value. I worked out a series of calculations worthy of a medieval astronomer, but I suspect there is a simpler way. I'm going to have to do this for a variety of other vectors, and I'd like to generalize

Here is the case : Client try to connect to internet via wifi. Once the client is connected, server send a website address to client, and a popup (website sent by server) will appear in the client's computer in default browser.
