I am trying to write a Windows Script that will allow me to monitor the following: That 2 x seperate but specific processes within Component Services "Running Processes" list are currently running and have not reset within the past hour. If I already know the PID, then I can retrieve the CreationDate (I assume which I can use to check for restarts? or is this the actual process creation/installation date) for each specific process, however if a restart occurs the PID will change and my script needs to know what the new PID is without me telling it!

I am struggling to pass a parameter to a VB.NET application via a Windows scheduled task. It works perfectly in Visual Studio (passing a command line arguement via project properties). If I am calling a VB6 application, then I will supply the following parameters and it works:
Run: c:progra~1TestTest.exe TestParameter Start In: c:progra~1Test However, if I supply the same parameters in VB.NET, the program throws an exception when it tries to create an instance of a class in the Form.Load: System.NullReferenceException cannot create instance of object.
I have also tried the following:Run: c:program filesTestTest.exe TestParameter Start In: "c:program filesTest" This time the status of the scheduled task changes to "cannot start".What is the correct way to specify command line parameters in a scheduled task for a VB.NET program?UPDATE I found the solution on this web page:[URL}.. I am still confused as to why the program would not create an instance of an object when I used the 8 bit paths (i.e. progra~1)

I am almost sure this isn't possible but it's worth an ask... We have a .NET DLL that is being called from our VB6 application. The VB6 app runs in a 32 bit process so the DLL runs in the same process (it's compiled as any cpu) Therefore when I do my ODBC Database access in the DLL is will only use a 32 bit driver, as this is what it thinks it needs (for the record the DB is Pervasive PSQL)
My problem arises when the application runs on a 64 bit machine (when only the 64 bit ODBC driver is installed) as it can't find a suitable driver to use. So is there a way to force the .NET DLL to run in a 64 bit process (compiling as x64 doesn't work because register for COM Interop is not allowed) This isn't necessarily an issue at this point in time because I can install the 32 bit driver, but at some point in the future I can imagine that 32 bit driver may not be available so I will be up the proverbial creek.

I know how to pass arguments between two dotnet applications! However I have hard time with this: I want to pass a command line argument. for example; test.exe is a console application (none dotnet) self terminating app. From cmd.exe if I type "test.exe -v" the cmd output text will display the test.exe version info. If I place the test.exe in the same path as my VB.net app. What I want to do is:

we have an old vb6 application (let's call it app-vb6) that basically handles database searches. now i created a new .net application (app-dotnet) that can use the database information to do something else.
what i want to do is to be able to run app-dotnet using information obtained from app-vb6 (which would send something like a command line with a few parameters). but i don't know how to make only one single instance of the app-dotnet to refresh information every time app-vb6 calls it. this link [URL].. seems to have the answer but i could not follow it since it is VC.

I am trying to start CMD and pass a command to it and then monitor it in the app I am writing. The user enters the information that makes the commandline and when they click Go it does start CMD but straight away it says it can't find the file.Is there any way I can view what is being sent to the CMD prompt to double check that this is correct? Do I need to specify the path to the file I want it to run, i.e. cscript c: estMigrate.wsf?

I have this code which gives me all of the information I need regarding tasks, information etc. I have it all shelled into a VB program and I want to be able to run this from one computer and have it return the data from all computers on the domain.[code]I have script that will list all users on the domain, can I implement that or is there an easier way? If I could search the entire domain for a specific file that would work too.At the moment I just need all the data returned to a text file, I am not worried about it being sorted, or how long a process like this would take.

Anyways, I am trying to create a vb.net application for which it will check if a process is running in task manager, and if this process or processes are running to end a different process. Let me give you an example,
If processA, ProcessB is running then END ProcessC. If however ProcessA, and ProcessB are not running then ProcessC can stay active. I have started the project and am able to kill the processes etc. This is shown below.

I'm trying to run a command line argument through VB.NET using the Shell() command.I'm trying to use this piece of code:
FOR /R %I in (*.pdf) DO @pdf2swf.exe "%~fI" -o "%~dpI%~nI.swf" -f -T 9
-t -G
Using this:
Shell("FOR /R %I in (*.pdf) DO @pdf2swf.exe "%~fI" -o "%~dpI%~nI.swf" -f -T 9
-t -G ")
However, the interpreter is giving me this error:
Character is not valid. (BC30037)
For the %~ part.I also tried created a string and passing the argument to the Shell() command by using Shell(StringName) but I still get the same error in the string.
