I need to pass some data to some procedure called with a parralel.invoke, how can I pass data to the procedure?

I have a list of strings that I need to pass to a process in a different class. What I want to know which of the two ideas would be a better approach to use in terms of speed,efficiency and parallel processing. The list contains +- 10000 strings and I want to limit the threads appropriately to have only about 5threads running at one time:

I have a list of(myclass)each item of this list need to be elaborated before being inserted in the list.Is it safe to use parrallel processes to fill shared list where each process has to fill a predefine range of the list? Or is it necessary to freeze the list when one process is filling it? in other words: can many process fill the same list in the same time without problems

I have a service that scans network folders using a parallel.for method. However recently I am finding if I stop the service then while windows says the service is stopped the process is still running in task manager. However it is at 0 cpu and the memory does not change. If I try and end the task (even a force in command prompt) it just says access denied and i have to reboot the server. What would be the best way to make sure everything terminates? I thought of adding a global Boolean that in the stop procedure it turns true and part of my parallel code will check for that and call s.stop.

Problem is, some of it is more complete than others.Here's what I'm trying to do:In Form1 (my main form), I want to instantiate a class that contains a couple of properties (speed setpoint and position setpoint). When I click a button, I want to pass this data to Form2 and populate two textboxes on Form2 with the properties of this object. I want to manipulate the property values on Form2 and click an OK button which closes the dialog and returns the manipulated data, updating the property values of the object. Here's the algorithm I'm following:1) On Form1, instantiate the class2) On Form1's "Pass Data" button click event handler, instantiate a Form2 object and invoke the ShowDialog method, passing the object as a parameter.
3) On Form2, overload the ShowDialog method to accept the object as a parameter and modify the method so that it returns the manipulated class data.4) On Form2, in the ShowDialog method, populate the textboxes with the class data that was passed in.Here's where I get stuck. If I press the OK button on Form2 (DialogResult.OK), it returns me to Form1, but what hook do I have in Form1 to receive the manipulated class data that the ShowDialog method is returning?Here's an example of what I'm thinking about:

View 8 RepliesI've been trying to get this method to run parallel so it can take full advantage of all processors, and it seems like the data is running over itself. I didn't originally write it, so I'm having a hard time figuring out where it's running over itself when it runs parallel. It gets good data when it runs in a regular For loop.

View 4 RepliesI am writing an application that is doing a file conversion.I created a new process in order to run an exe and pass it some arguments in order to do the file conversion. I ran this in the Submit button click event.I added an event handler for when the Process had exited and then continued my code, since I had to wait for the file conversion to complete before continuing.
Everything is running fine now up until the point where I am trying to call a FillBy for one of my datasets. My fill by is accepting a parameter UserID and filling it based on the user id, which is selected in a combo box in the program itself.I keep getting exceptions and it immediately exits the program whenever I try and use this fillby method, if I take it out it completes successfully; however, the new row I just inserted was not added.
I tried adding a tryparse for the value selected from the UserID combobox but I get this cross-thread exception, so I have a feeling the 2 are related.

I am working on an application where I store paths to various folders in a database that is displayed in a treeview. I would like to be able to select a node in my tree and then pass the path to the associated folder to the application which can display the contents of the folder. I am trying to click on certain rows in a datagridview and have the information in the rows sent to a textbox. It does not append each row to the textbox though, which is what I want it to do. it just replaces it with the row I click on. What's wrong with my code. I have tried cell click too.

View 10 RepliesI have written a windows service that is meant to launch a notepad when a specific action happens. The problem i have is that even though the service launches notepad, the actual notepad it self is NOT visible. I know that it has been launced because i can see the process in the task manager. By the way the process is listed as a SYSTEM process rather than a process under my user name (i believe that is because my process is a "LocalSystem" one).

View 4 RepliesI have been trying to pass selected data from two dropdownlist (page1.aspx) to (page2.aspx) I am not having any luck as it seems the data is not being passed when selected. Please help, this doesn't seem that difficult, but I can not get it work. On (page2.aspx) the data from the dropdownlists will be passed to a stored procedure and all results will be in a gridview.

The project is a windows service that takes data from a webservice passes data to activex.exe and it creates public folder records in exchange 2003. The ColResCategory is a property within the Business Layer (See below) and it needs to be passed to the Data Layer. ReplaceResCategory (See 2nd Code view) is another class file within my Business Layer and the ColResCategory references it.
