I have two subroutines that consists of two datasets. I am not sure how to pass some data in first dataset named dsGoodStudent to second dataset named dsBestClass.

View 6 RepliesI have a VB.net WPF application that creates a list from a databind. For each row in the databind, it generates a textblock that displays the information from different fields in the databind. It also generates a button which I would like to run a subroutine when clicked.
When I click the button, I want it to be able to get the information from the databind on the column the button is clicked, and to pass it to the subroutine so the code-behind can use that information.
I have hundreds of variables and need to see if they are duplicated. Is there a simple function I can use to achieve this rather than repeating the code for each? The variables have different types. Can you pass a variable name into a subroutine?

I have a certain subrotine where I excute a sql query and save data into a certain dataset, in another subrotine i need to make use of the data in the dataset i've just made by filtering on certain data in order to fasten my program rather than re-execute the sql query again that would take much time.

Then you can pass the parameter like: da.SelectCommand.Parameters.Add("@param1", SqlDbType.Char).Value = param1_variable (as example)
But if you have builded a dataset (with table adapters), and then in the form app you want just to pass the param1 to a DataGridView1 (as example) which is using the table adapter, I did not find how to do this.
I have created an application in which I have to make a report with ReportViewver from Microsoft.Everything ok until now. I have created the report and for this report I have created a dataset. This dataset contains data for every month in every year from 2010 to 2015. With this dataset I am populating a graphic but my problem is that I want to select the year and create graphic for one year.I do not know how to insert a parameter in the dataset. View 1 RepliesI am writing an application that is doing a file conversion.I created a new process in order to run an exe and pass it some arguments in order to do the file conversion. I ran this in the Submit button click event.I added an event handler for when the Process had exited and then continued my code, since I had to wait for the file conversion to complete before continuing.
Everything is running fine now up until the point where I am trying to call a FillBy for one of my datasets. My fill by is accepting a parameter UserID and filling it based on the user id, which is selected in a combo box in the program itself.I keep getting exceptions and it immediately exits the program whenever I try and use this fillby method, if I take it out it completes successfully; however, the new row I just inserted was not added.
I tried adding a tryparse for the value selected from the UserID combobox but I get this cross-thread exception, so I have a feeling the 2 are related.

Table2 should be updates from table based on the results... If all results is PASS then the table2 should be updated as pass... if any result is FAIL then the entire case_no should be updates a s fail..

Just started VB programming this week and have found a wealth of information about what I'm trying to do. Problem is, some of it is more complete than others.Here's what I'm trying to do:In Form1 (my main form), I want to instantiate a class that contains a couple of properties (speed setpoint and position setpoint). When I click a button, I want to pass this data to Form2 and populate two textboxes on Form2 with the properties of this object. I want to manipulate the property values on Form2 and click an OK button which closes the dialog and returns the manipulated data, updating the property values of the object. Here's the algorithm I'm following:1) On Form1, instantiate the class2) On Form1's "Pass Data" button click event handler, instantiate a Form2 object and invoke the ShowDialog method, passing the object as a parameter.
3) On Form2, overload the ShowDialog method to accept the object as a parameter and modify the method so that it returns the manipulated class data.4) On Form2, in the ShowDialog method, populate the textboxes with the class data that was passed in.Here's where I get stuck. If I press the OK button on Form2 (DialogResult.OK), it returns me to Form1, but what hook do I have in Form1 to receive the manipulated class data that the ShowDialog method is returning?Here's an example of what I'm thinking about:

When I go to a different record such as next, previous, first or last I need a subroutine named "LayoutAdjust()" to execute "after" the new next record data is loaded on form. I tried calling the subroutine in the "BindingNavigatorMoveNextItem_Click" action but it executed the procedure before the next record data was loaded
View 1 RepliesI have an old program written in VB6. I upgraded the program with VB 2008. The updated program works fine except when the program tries to transfer an array to another subroutine. The old VB6 program sends arr(0) as an argument to the subroutine, the address of arr(0) is passed to the subroutine. The array arr() address is the first of a block of consequent addresses one by one, arr(1), arr(2), etc.
Now when running VBnet, the address of arr(0) is not the first of all consequent arr(1), arr(2), etc. It is an isolated number, just like if arr(0) were a variable instead of an array. The addresses of arr(1), arr(2), etc do not exist in the subroutine. [Code]
The variable of y1 passes to the subroutine oK, whilst arr(0) passes also like y1 into an isolated address. So VBnet interprets arr(0) like a variable rather than the first value of a long list. I haven't been able to find out why the above sample does not work. I got stuck in my programming effort, as I cannot proceed to to further development. how the code should be modified to enable the whole array information passing through the subroutine.
Problem is, I need to call a VB.NET function from javascript, no two ways around it. This is a bit harder to find.BTW -- Web/Page methods won't work. I have to be able to reference a listbox and it's selected items when the VB code-behind fires.

I know I could raise an event and listen for it in the form called by application.run but I would like to find a way around it.I wouldn't be opposed to try to throw an exception that if unhandled would close the application... but would prefer to come up with a more elegant soln.

Basically, I'm trying to get the Page_Load subroutine to execute on the page load, but it doesn't seem to be called. I'm assuming that because I set my feedback label to "feedback" in the Page_Load subroutine, I should see it displayed on the page saying "feedback" on first loading the page and every time I refresh. But this doesn't happen. I'm lead to conclude that the Page_Load subroutine is not being called on the page load.
