View 2 RepliesProblem is, I need to call a VB.NET function from javascript, no two ways around it. This is a bit harder to find.BTW -- Web/Page methods won't work. I have to be able to reference a listbox and it's selected items when the VB code-behind fires.
View 3 Replieswhat I need to do is to call/run/execute a subroutine using a varaible name from a subroutine.
Public Sub Main(ByVal subName as String)
Call subName ' subName may be contain the value AAA or BBB
End Sub

I'm looking to call a subroutine via a variable. For example:[code]Is that possible?
View 3 RepliesI have an ASP.NET application with a button that executes VB.NET on the server when clicked. Specs have changed, I've added a menu of sorts which is to replace the VB button. With some from S.O., I've managed to manipulate some javascript which does a postback and executes the button's code. I figured I could just make the button invisible and still be able to call it's on_click event from js. How wrong I was!
So now, somehow I'm supposed to call a VB sub from either javascript or (boss says) ajax. I have no idea how to do this. Could anyone give me a good direction as to how I can call a VB.NET subroutine from ajax on the client? Or javascript?
My program hangs during debugging at a breakpont set at a subroutine call. It hangs on breakpoints anywhere inside the subroutine also. But does not hang otherwise at other locations where I have set breakpoints.

I have a routine that has an if else statement at the else part it calls another routine. Within that routine it has a msgbox script. At the part that is actually is suppose to show the msgbox it goes back to the previous subroutine at the else statement and runs again but this time it displays. I have never seen this before.
THe code is posted below.
1 Else
2 Me.lblTurnsLeft.Text = Me.lblTurnsLeft.Text - 1
3 If Me.lbltimer.Text = "0" Then

In the Call the ByVal's are underlined an mouseover and error list says "Expression Expected". I do not have any expressions to pass along just want to Call a subroutine.
I have a form which obtains data from text boxes and stores them in a file. If fields are missing, an error message is displayed. When information is stored, a message box asks if the user wants to enter another customer. However, that message appears whether or not information has been stored - I've used the following code. [code] Is there a way to not call the procedure if the error appears?

View 2 Repliesi have the following CallSets defined for serveral views including a combo box. If a user chose INDIVIDUAL, UNITEMIZED or CANDIDATE from the cbo box I wanted the view "AddIndividual" to be called. However, if anyother entity was chosen than it would call the view "AddOrganization." The "View", "Edit", and "Add" calls work but not the "AddIndividual" or "AddOrganization"

How do I(Can I) code a conditional statement in a TableAdapter query? I have a product code which can be either 8 or 9 characters long. Product codes are stored in an Access 2003 db table. I need to group products so in Access I have a simple Function which work fine in a Jet SQL query. But I can't get it to work in VB 2005.

View 5 RepliesI'm struggling to figure this out on my own. First of all I'm not sure if my calculations are right for the BusinessCustomer part. Its supposed to be:
Processing fee:$16.50
Basic service fee: $80 for first 10 connections; $4 for each additional connection
Premium channels: $50 per channel for any number of connections
anyways, what Im mainly concerned about is clearing the label when the radio buttons are changed. I have tried adding "Call Clear()" in certain event procedures with no luck. Does anyone have any advice or tips? Help is much appreciated. Thanks!

I'm trying to create an array to be handled during my code. I want to create it as soon as I open the program so I've placed it in my bit of constructor code. This code was working fine before I tried to initialize a new array in there but when I place that in I get the above error message. This occurs whether I put the new array bit of code first in my constructor class or not.
View 5 RepliesI am having problem with the coding of this (endless loop) and formatting of summary boxes before tests are complete that should not happen. (the overall goals is to have a separate validation procedure that does not calculate or dat displays are not performed until after call function is complete and valid. The validation that takes place are that two boxes are filled in - one is text and the other is a numeric value. (using vb 2008)

what's the rationale behind this limitation: Constructor call is valid only as the first statement in an instance constructor i want to pass an argument to my constructor which validates this argument and calls mybase.new according to this argument but it doesn't let me
example:

Inherits System.ApplicationException
Public Sub New(ByVal problem As String, ByRef inner_exception As Exception)

I am trying to get the hang of this stupid VB.net, but it won't even let me create a subroutine or function, it use to be in the tools menu in VB6. I have spent £50 on 2 books that rabbit on about objects, property's classes etc: but tell me nothing of what I want/need to know, what a waste of money.

Does anyone know how to get x value form another subroutine?
View 3 RepliesI have a form that is bound to a table of data. I have a typical binding navigator. When I go to a different record such as next, previous, first or last I need a subroutine named "LayoutAdjust()" to execute "after" the new next record data is loaded on form. I tried calling the subroutine in the "BindingNavigatorMoveNextItem_Click" action but it executed the procedure before the next record data was loaded
View 1 RepliesI have an old program written in VB6. I upgraded the program with VB 2008. The updated program works fine except when the program tries to transfer an array to another subroutine. The old VB6 program sends arr(0) as an argument to the subroutine, the address of arr(0) is passed to the subroutine. The array arr() address is the first of a block of consequent addresses one by one, arr(1), arr(2), etc.
Now when running VBnet, the address of arr(0) is not the first of all consequent arr(1), arr(2), etc. It is an isolated number, just like if arr(0) were a variable instead of an array. The addresses of arr(1), arr(2), etc do not exist in the subroutine. [Code]
The variable of y1 passes to the subroutine oK, whilst arr(0) passes also like y1 into an isolated address. So VBnet interprets arr(0) like a variable rather than the first value of a long list. I haven't been able to find out why the above sample does not work. I got stuck in my programming effort, as I cannot proceed to to further development. how the code should be modified to enable the whole array information passing through the subroutine.
I'm writing a class library and I need to be able to shut down the main code in certain cases.
I know I could raise an event and listen for it in the form called by application.run but I would like to find a way around it.I wouldn't be opposed to try to throw an exception that if unhandled would close the application... but would prefer to come up with a more elegant soln.
I am trying to execute the "Data()" subroutine at startup. This did not work:
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
Call Data()
End Sub
Is there a way to call the subroutine at the begining of debug?
I'm following this tutorial [URL] and it says to Open form1_Load() subroutine. What does this mean and how do I do so? It is really important.

Basically, I'm trying to get the Page_Load subroutine to execute on the page load, but it doesn't seem to be called. I'm assuming that because I set my feedback label to "feedback" in the Page_Load subroutine, I should see it displayed on the page saying "feedback" on first loading the page and every time I refresh. But this doesn't happen. I'm lead to conclude that the Page_Load subroutine is not being called on the page load.
