I'm switching from an MDI approach to switch between pages to a tabbed dialog control. Is there any way to place a form into tabbed dialog control?I'm guessing not, but the next option (and this was suggested awhile ago by JM) is to make a user control. I have ~ 20 some odd forms and making a new control for all of them could be a pain.
View 2 RepliesMy main form is a tabbed control with 2 tabs. The first tab is has two listview controls which display information about the current machine. The second tab contains a treeview control and two listview controls. This tab recreates the device manager in windows. I created a Machine class to gather the information about the machine that I want to display to the user. When I call the Display() Method from my form's load event everything appears to be fine the first tab's information is displayed in the listview controls.
Here's the kicker, when I click to the device manager tab there's nothing there. The LoadTree() procedure never fires. This code works, I've seen my device tree display a thousand times in the past. When I comment out the call to Machine.Display() my device tree reappears no problem. The code compiles fine no errors. I know the problem has to be in my Machine class but I have no idea what could cause this kind of response. I've never seen a program compile clean and then refuse to fire a procedure call but not produce some kind of runtime error.
I'm creating a new (or more) tab(s) with a multi-line textbox (filled) at runtime and some text is added. Each time I change/select a (new) tab it needs to search for a string and if found...blablabla.How do I get the control to search in?

I often use the process of displaying a dialog from a form, with the dialog user input then used to update the main form without any problem. In a new scenerio I launch the main application screen, I then show a login dialog ontop of the main app screen and can launch another dialog from the login if a new user is required. The plan is to update the login dialog (updating a combobox to reflect the addition of a new user) from the new user dialog.

The messagebox implies the dialog has been updated yet the text does not change. Is it possible to update the dialog when using a setup such as Form -> dialog -> dialog? I'm intrigued as why the dialog does not reflect changes. I have never refreshed/repainted the dialog as never required to in my other examples when updating a form from a dialog and never encountered a problem when using a two tier form setup.

The following code does create a form within a form and does place NotePad inside the child form. You have to manually start NotePad prior to execution (I work on that later) but the code does workŠ My problem is now I want to manipulate the properties of notepad i.e. focus, size, location, etc. but I cannot figure out how to reference notepad and its properties.

I was just wondering how I could send commands to a tabbed browser. Such as navigation. I know of webbrowser1.navigate, but that will not work with the tabbed browser. I would also like to use an commands to automatically login. But I am not sure how I could do that in a tabbed browser either. Webbrowser1.document.getelementbyid does not work for this.

In the IterationForm, I have values being calculated and displayed as and when an operation is being performed.
In the panel it shows only the blank form. I need to have those values displayed as well.
I have tried using MDI parent with my menustrip1, same thing, that is the form being displayed without the values.
So basically what I am trying to do is, take the id value of the row that is clicked and place it in a label outside of the gridview, however, when I do this the label come up with no text. I think my problem is that x is not being set to the exact row that is being clicked.

Does anyone know how to copy a control (button, panel etc...) and place the control with the same click event on another part of a form while keeping the original in the same location? I have a custom user control that I created that has special features on click. If I have the control on the left side and want to drag it over to the right side I want the control duplicated, as this control can be duplicated unlimited times, and still have the same click event.

I'm trying to include a user control in an aspx page, it works fine, but my control does position itself where I want it and always appears at the very top of the page. Could it have something to do with the masterpage? I've tried registering the user control in the master page, but I don't know how to reference it in the content page.[code]

For eg: I am having 2 fields in database UserName and FirstName. So during run time, 2 labels and 2 textboxes must be placed on the form, and with the caption as lblUserName & lblFirstName and txtFirstName & txtUserName. I'm new to VB, now working with VB 2008 Express Edition. Was once very proficient with "procedural" languages of the 70's (eg. Fortran, COBOL, etc), but totally new to OOP and the "Visual" languages. Despite being a quick study, eloping a user interface to a USB-connected infrared remote control device. The UI's graphical element (a "virtual remote") will be a PHOTO of the IR remote control device supplied by my target-equipment's mfr, OVERLAYED with functional software control buttons in their respective positions. "Pressing" a button on the virtual remote will cause the USB device to emit the desired IR code sequence.

I'm having an interesting issue that I can't reproduce on a different project, but can consistently on this one. I have no clue what might be causing it, but am hoping that someone may have seen it before.
I have a main form, from which I run a series of checks. On this form, I have a listview control. Because of some issues with the refreshing of this listview control, I had to create my own messagebox. It's just a form that displays some text ( it also happens to look nicer than MsgBox; in my opinion, anyways ). It's been working great for months, until recently.
My problem is that on my main form's load event, I run this check, which returns an error within a try/catch block. I then call my custom messagebox with a message. It in turns calls it's ShowDialog() function.
In any other situation ( after the main form has been loaded ), I have no problems. The messagebox goes on the screen and behaves appropriately ( ie: waits for my input and acts as a modal dialog ( stops execution of my main form's thread ) ). However, on this onload event, my messagebox comes up and goes away almost immediately afterwards.
I've traced it all the way to the showdialog() call. For no explicable reason, it appears to skip right over this call, without me doing anything on the form.

Is there a way to do this?
Like I imagine everyone, I often have problems navigating my code because the flow can jump from place to place. For example, if my code calls routine1, and I then want to go to routine1's code, I know that I can click in the dropdown menu and it will take me to that sub. But wouldn't it be easier if I could somehow right click on the call to routine way and select something like 'take me there' which would transport me from the function making the call to the code for the function being called? Then it would be easy to hop from place to place.

My project has a single dataset with about 6 datatables. Each of those datatables has a TableAdapater and a Bindingsource on the main form (due to various databound controls).
Now, I want to have a second form for adding a new record. If I bind the controls to the datasource it creates new TableAdapaters and new Bindingsources on that form. I was wondering if it's possible to simply use the ones from the main form instead like this
