Trying to build a project that lets users click an item from a list of products (tabbed form). Once an item is selected (check box) find a way to store that item.Then when the user has finished selecting items they can click a button showing what they have selected in a new form that will open.Whats the best way to store what items they select? An Array?

I want to select the first option from the first listbox and I want to put it into another listbox along with the price of that item on the same line in the listbox. I can't seem to figure out how to that.

I think (?) this is about object design, and perhaps about structural and/or creational patterns. But a bit hard to say when I only know a couple of patterns yet.[code]But... what if we INSTEAD want each Product instance only to (in some way) refer to one instance of a specific list of Components. So we wan't to save the products list to one file, and the components list to another file. Then would I build the objects the same way, or different? So let's then say we have now Class B as below. 1. Will not need to update each component variable of the products list when the components list changes.
2. If the Product object shall be shown in a DataGridView, for editing properties, it seems easier to implement the selection of the component property.
Is this wrong approach? Is it suitable in some cases, and if so, when? Are there other solutions I perhaps am not aware of that would be appropriate? Is this about structural design patterns? and if so, can the alternatives above be catagorized to some pattern type? I don't really know exactly what I'm looking for.. But I think probably I'm looking to understand whether the object design will be determined by the way the objects are saved.. And if i shall save the objects by serializing to file, vs saving to a database, would I create the business objects differently?
I'm basically brand new to LINQ. I've seen some examples that allow me to strong type objects using LINQ but I don't really understand them because they're in C#, which I guess lets you do different things with LINQ(I think?). IN one application, I need do the following: When user press one button, show a combo box with ptoducts kinds, and the application create a new record in the database. Next, and automatically, I wanna another form to be opened, with all the complementary values of this products, for the operator complete the values.My problem is: The form cant be the same, cause each kind of product show one different form Open the detail form, how can I know what record ID was created??

View 2 RepliesI am creating a program that allows a user to view a list of foods in a combo box, add that food unto a list box, and adds all of the calories of that food together. When the user highlights their select food, the program automatically shows the amount of calories for that particular food in a text box. The program is getting the food and calorie information from an access database. I managed to get all of the food calories to add up properly, however, I ran into a problem. Sometimes, well, most of the time, when I select certain foods from the combo box, the program automatically reselects another random food, usually a food that begins with either an A, B, or C. Also, the other random food that the program chooses usually has the same amount of calories as the food I originally wanted to choose. I have over 6,000 items in the database. I don't understand why this is happening. This is what my code looks like for the button that adds each food to the list box:

I have no idea what to try. It's like the program just skips over random foods, even though all of the information for them is in the database.

One is a program where you can select a product and select how many of them you want. Then the total price wil be displayedin a label. And the list of selected products will be saved in a .txt file.
The second program is an Edit program. The user can edit his selected products. Here he can change the total of a product.So if he had selected 1, he can change it to three or something. When the user clicks the button Save. The changes will besaved in the same .txt file and the total price will also be changed and displayed in program one.
Program one is compleet.Program two has problems and here i need your help:- the user can't make a change in the numbers, seems that the textbox is read-only or something. How to solve?- Then when i click save, the changed must be saved in the .txt ( i can't test this yet because no changes can't be made)- the total new price must be showed in program 1 (i think i programmed this well, but can you take a look)

While testing I came across something curious.A Modal form by definition will prevent users accessing any other form in the application.This I discovered is not always true as I have a Modal form displayed which allowed me to access its owner form's Menu.Searching MSDN I could find no mention of this feature. I have warnings and errors now, but I can still debug the project with the "last successful build" Iwould like to just revert everything to that build but I can't find a way to eliminate the problems I induced or find a way to go to a earlier build. When they hover over the items, a nice highlight color fades in and then out when they leave the item. Anyways, it looks very nice, but I don't want to have to use a "page" style. (e.g., page 1 contains 6 items, click "Next" to go to the next page of 6 itesm) I'd like to allow the user to scroll through the items. I'll develop my own GUI for the scrollbar, however I have absolutely no idea where to start on actually fitting all of the items into like a 400x200 box, and allowing the user to scroll up and down through the items. The items are actual controls (e.g. each item contains a picturebox, a couple of labels, a couple of buttons collectively).

View 1 RepliesI have a list box on the form which functions as a copy/paste. When you copy something, it is automatically added to the list box as a "clipboard helper". Here is the problem,however: if the text is more than 1 line, the list box does not show all the text.It ends up looking messy.So getting back to my question, is it possible to make the list box item height for an item depending on the amount of lines that item contains?This is a one line sentence in the list box and should take up one line.This is a multi line sentence in the list box and should take up two lines for item height.

View 1 RepliesI've got a TCP Listener running on a separate thread. I want to have it log the incoming and outgoing messages in a list on the form instead of in message boxes. I've been reading about multiple threads, and I know there's something extra I need to do because form controls are not thread safe.
Unfortunately I've tried several tutorials on delegates and invoking but it still doesn't seem to insert the log items to the list. I even spent $60 on this Mastering Visual Basic 2010 book to "Build Rich Client and Web Applications with Visual Basic", but there isn't a single chapter on how to handle multiple threads.

You select that item and click "Modify" button and a new form appears with the previously selected item data from first form ready to be modified in a text-box. After modifying and clicking Ok the second form suppose to return that modified string to the first form and insert the modified string into the same spot instead of the originally selected item, so it looks like it was edited to the user.
