I have made dll component and it contains interface. I am executing it in form. The problem is that i would like to use some variables in the form, but I do not like to declare them in there. Is it possible to declare them in this dll interface and then use them in form?

What now has me totally confused (even more so than I was about setting up the above pattern) is what to declare in the Interface? I wanted to declare the event in the interface since there will be several other classes that do similar things and they need to be used interchangeably (hence an Interface in the first place) and if I've gone down the Interface route it seems smart to make sure the 'minimum' content that each class will have to implement declared in the Interface...

The C# interface I'm working from defines properties and events (IsPostBack, Load) that are already implemented by the base control.However, VB.NET is forcing me to explicitly implement these properties/events in the user control (Public Property IsPostBack() As Boolean Implements IView.IsPostBack...). I'd like to just define these in the interface and not have to do anything special in the code-behind of the implementing user control.I'm assuming that I can do this in VB.NET, I just don't know how. I've spent all sorts of time googling/bing-ing, and haven't come up with the answer.
I'm working on a design project where I have to use a Graphical User Interface that contains a drag and drop form. It consists of having a window dropped on a wall. Both of them are images to scale. I would like to know what kind of code I would have to use to show the x and y coordinates of one of the points of my window when dragged so when I drop it, I'm dropping in it on the desired coordinate of the wall.
View 2 RepliesI have a program that uses two forms. The program opens to the Main form, and the user can navigate to the other form from the Main form through use of a button. Here's the way I've currently written it: When the Main form loads, it declares and instantiates the other form during the load procedure. When the user presses a button, the second form is displayed by means of the ShowDialog method. On the second form, there is a Return to Main Screen button which closes the second form, bringing the user back to the Main form.
So, here's the structure of the code:

Here's my reasoning: Originally, I wrote the code so that a new instance of the second form was created every time the button was pressed. The problem was that whatever data was displayed on the second form, previously, was lost when the user returned to it a second time. Since the user would be switching back and forth between these forms, frequently, I needed that data to persist.
What is the best practice for accomplishing this:
1) Declare and instantiate the second form on program start, as I have done, and use the button simply to show the form?
2) Declare and instantiate the second form each time the button is pressed but maintain the variables on the Main form and pass them ByRef to a custom constructor for the second form? Is this even possible?
3) Something else?
I created a second form in my application and in the first form i wrote:

But it does not recognize the second form. I tried changing the name and i get the same result.

As Autodesk is going to discontinue VBA for their Inventor product in the near future I have been looking at other ways to run VB.NET in Inventor. To date it doesn't look like VSTA will be the replacement. Automation from an External VB.NET app is certainly possible, but leaves something to be desired for speed and integration. Compiled Add Ins are the Cadillac of choice but can be a royal pain to debug and develop. Autodesk now provides a lightweight VB.NET script interface called iLogic. It's main purpose is to allow extreme customization of Solid Modeling parts. The code actually resides inside the Part Model file.

"Tab" is not inherited from Control, but each tab has its events. So when the user add a "Tab" in the "Tabs Collection", each "Tab" instance should have a (Name) identifier, which user can access it in the code, and with WithEvents keyword so users can add event handlers to each "Tab". The only thing I am aware of is a textbox, but there are no facilities to have commands and output scroll without keeping the entire history in a variable. That would be an ever increasing variable, which is ridiculous. Is there an alternate way to use a textbox as a command prompt, or is there something else I can do. Another note, is the use of an array. I know I can increase an array with commands, but this is no good either, because some responses in the box need to be paragraphs in length, so even a separate array for command and output is too cumbersome.

I am using a MDI form and child forms. Now I don't like the standard back colour of mdi form so I got code on the net which paints a gradient colour to the mdi. So far it is working okay.Now the problem is when I load a child form or close it or do a similar activity then it causes flicker in the mdi background. This gets pretty annoying at times and you see the background flicker.

View 2 RepliesI have a Visual Studio 2005 VB project that creates a fairly simple form containing three text boxes with corresponding labels. In terms of property settings I have AutoSize set to True, AutoSizeMode set to GrowAndShrink, SizeGripStyle set to Show, and WindowState set to Maximized.
I'd like the user to be able to grow and shrink this form using the resize grip that appears in the bottom right corner. When the application starts, it starts maximized, which is what I want, and it has the typical minimize, restore down, and close buttons in the upper right corner.
I can use restore down to reduce its size, and once that's done I can use the resize grip to make the form larger, but the resize grip will not allow me to make the form smaller. Changing WindowState to Normal doesn't change this behavior.
Have a set of buttons across the top of my form and when the user clicks one id like the botom of the form to change to reflect that click. Kind of like the Office 2k7 ribbon but apply that to the whole form.

What my architect wants: [Code] Downloaddata.vb class, that will actually do the work,and will implement the interface. So DoMyWork(dim frm as ProgressBarForm) implements Iwork.BeginWork.
Twice, it will report the stauts back to progress bar form. ProgressBarForm.vb class(it has BGWorker Thread) will have one public method(name ShowMyProgress) that Downloaddata class can call from its DoMyWork method when status is changed. And also implementation of all 3 events of worker thread.
My Questions:
1. Where should I put BGWorker.RunWorkerAsync
2. What kind of logic should go in ShowProgress method in progressbar and also in DoWork event?
Do I need application.doevents? In nutshell, how Progressbarform and DownloadData will communicate back & forth?

What I want is to make a form in VB.net, ie buttons and a browser window and possibly some images. When I press a button such as next page etc. I would like it to be a new interface ie different buttons maybe a picture instead of the web browser etc, pretty generic. I can see how I can do using multiple forms but I am wanting it to be one application/one window.
Am I missing something as I thought this would be a pretty normal thing to do, ie having different UI's so when you click a button it takes you to the next page. Should I been using multiple forms and then get the form2 to replace form1 etc?
