Possible To Have A Custom Window Style Like One With Sticky Notes?
Sep 20, 2011
I develop Mac apps. Now, I'm using Visual Studio 2010 (VB) to develop Windows applications. And I wonder if there are different styles of windows (forms)like Floating, Modal,Modeless. This Microsoft web page mentions Tool Window.I'm not sure I have this option.Or is it possible to have a custom window style like the one with Sticky Notes?
As part of my current project for making student's lives easier by making an All-In-One application with many common programs carbon-copied inside it, I have a slight problem with sticky notes.
I am trying to recreate Sticky Notes as much as possible from the Windows 7 Sticky Notes Application. My problem is, I put a richtextbox on the sticky notes panel and wanted to either add a background image, or a transparent backcolor (my Panel that the textbox is in has the background image of the themed sticky notes). So my question is, is it possible to somehow dynamically make a property to allow the backcolor of a richtextbox to be transparent? or allow a background image? If you find an answer helpful, click the Helpful button. I'm trying to make a program with a dashboard that has sticky notes on it. By sticky notes, I'm just talking about 5 text box's that save the text to file.txt. Nothing fancy. Anyways here is the code I have:
Private Sub Button5_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button5.Click MsgBox("Are you sure you want to save?", MsgBoxStyle.YesNo) If MsgBoxResult.Yes Then Dim txtwriter As TextWriter txtwriter = New StreamWriter("file.txt") txtwriter.WriteLine(TextBox1.Text)
how i can change the native scrollbar style in my application to my custom style. I can adopt a custom scrollbar to attain this purpose but this will not serve my purpose because i want this attribute in entire application. Like it the text in textbox gets longer than its bounds than the scrollbar appers are my custom bar not the formal ones
I've been trying make a mdi notepad that can start up new instances of a "note" which is unique from the other notes as in you can save/change/cut/ copy/ paste in the individual notes without changing the properties of the other notes..something like a tabbed notepad but instead of tab control i have a mdi container. but i can't make it work. [code] problem with it is that whatever you cut/copy/paste in one mdi container richtextbox, it automatically cuts/copies/pastes in the other richtextbox controls in the other containers..
Is there something like a doc.GETITEMVALUE("Attachment")(0) ?Also, I can't find any documentation for the domino API. Does anyone have a good resource for this?
First post here. New to GDI+, but not so new to programming. I am trying to create an Alt-Tab style dialog. For some reason, the snippet below (copied from somewhere, I forget) just creates a purple rounded rectangle. Anybody know of Aero-compatible code snippets to create rounded corners?
I was trying to block the closing of a custom combo box popup window in my custom DataGrid. The popup window comes by pressing F4 or ALT+DOWN keys in my datagrid which is getting closed if I press the down arrow for the first time, after showing the first value in the combo box as selected. Next time onwards, if I press the F4 key and down arrow, I can move to any item in the popup window and select the item using keyboard and in that case, the popup window is not getting closed till I press the ENTER key or selection using the Mouse. Is there any specific reason for this behaviour or something is missing in my code part? [code]...

how to specify a custom icon for display in the toolbox window when you create your own custom control? Something other than the dreaded "gearbox" icon.
I am looking to close the application when I click a cancel button in a login page, but I don't want to do it in such a way that Window 2 closes itself, but by sending some notification to Main Window, and Main Window closes the application. Here's the code that I have so far:
(in loginPage)
Public Event CloseApp As EventHandler Private Sub CancelButton_Click(sender As System.Object, e As System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs) Handles CancelButton.Click
My goal is to be able to create a costom Visual Style like Aero Glass but with some modifycations... Also Id like for it me to be able to use that style in one application... like Norton 360 dose they have their yellow style thing going on...
How would I make my own custom border style? I want to make my own so that the program looks better and havign its own close/minimize button would be awesome also. Here is what I mean by it:[URL] notice it doesnt use the normal xp or vista bar it is its own? How would I go about doing that?
Please can someone point me in the right direction? I would like to build my own code designer window similar to that of the one within the VB2010 IDE.I am not sure how to tackle this, at first I was thinking of using RichTextBox as this can accommodate the fonts and colors.
An example of what I am trying to achieve.Should be able to outline, expand and colapse based on my own tags. e.g. in the VB.Net IDE a function and end function are tags that would produce an outline Should be able to change color of text based on characters. e.g. ' would turn green in the VB.Net ide as it is a comment Should be able to indent based on specific tags. e.g. With - End with would auto indent within the VB.Net ide
I should be able to cover the text color and indents using RichTextBox, but I am struggling with the outline expand and colapse. The purpose of the project is to build a simple interface for creating config files that use only specific tags
I am using VB Express Edition 2010, and I want a button, when clicked, to make the form 'full screen' (border style done and maximised window state) and once clicked again, to return the form to maximised but with a fixed single border style. Here is my
Public Class frmLargeLabels Inherits Form Private WithEvents printDocument1 As New PrintDocument Dim memoryImage As Bitmap
[CODE]...
I pinched it from a Print Form routine but changed the coding in the Private Sub Capture Screen event. ie: RichTextBox instead of Form. (Dim s As Size..........) memoryGraphics has to be twigged to location on form. And, of course location and size to print in the Rectangle. All things to do with a RichTextBox - such as Font, Color, etc can be used making a super-duper label. :8-0::eek: I have not seen anything to do with RTBs giving this.
How would I re-size the window @ a point relative to its parent location and size. I am using code from Make an unowned window's parent to my form, to be able to set a windows parent to panel1.
Dim proc As Process ' Start the process proc = Process.Start("C:UsersDmitryAppDataRoamingSpotifyspotify.exe") proc.WaitForInputIdle() Dim tmp_hWnd As IntPtr [Code] .....
This works on most windows except for ones that are customized. Maximizing the window will maximize the window to bounds of the actual screen bounds instead of the panel1 bounds. Code works fine with normal windows but not with this one. (Spotify Window.) SendMessage(proc.MainWindowHandle, 274, 61488, 0)
ok so im making a custom windows border. ive got it all layed out and it is working greatbut im trying to make it so that the image in the bottom left corner will be click and thenheld and when the mouse move the

I am devloping a custom designer (like the form designer), which can be used to design custom controls at designtime (see spoiler for screenshot). The problem is that i want to show the propertyes of the currently selected object in the propertygrid window in VS, and i can not figure out how to do that.

I found a class online that creates drop shadows, shown below. This works well, even with a resize grip, until I maximise the window. Once I maximise the window or change the window state of another window (eg. Visual Studio), I loose the drop shadow and I cannot get it back.
I am trying to make a style that only gets applied if the parent element of the element that the style refers to, has another specific style. Kind of like in CSS where you can do ".class1 .class2" to specify that the "class2" theme only applies if it is within an element with the class "class1". I do not wish to use any form of external DLLs or libraries for this task. I want to know if it's possible to implement on my own.
I've tried using MultiTriggers with no luck. I have a style that applies to all TextBlocks. I want the textblock to do the following: If the font-size of the textblock is 11 and the parent element's style is "PinnedSuggestion", set the foreground color to "#FF505050". If the font-size of the textblock is 11 and the parent element's style is "Suggestion", set the foreground color to "#FFCCCCCC". The conditions that I have tried to write to make this work, are as follows (the font-size condition is true, but the other one is not). The conditions are inside a style that applies to all textblocks in general.
I am creating an application and am very new to VB. I have 4 buttons on my form which is like my applications main menu. I would like that each of the buttons behaves in the following way when there is a mouse rollover: The Button back color is changed from the default to Red The Button text is changed to Blue, Bold, and increases in font size I would also like all the buttons to go back to their initial state when the mouse leaves.
Another thing, instead of me writing code for each of the buttons event handlers (Mouse Hovers, and Mouse Leaves) is there a way I can write this code once, maybe as a function and then always call it for any button that I create from here on so that any new buttons take on this behaviour.
