How would I make my own custom border style? I want to make my own so that the program looks better and havign its own close/minimize button would be awesome also. Here is what I mean by it:[URL] notice it doesnt use the normal xp or vista bar it is its own? How would I go about doing that?

I currently created some buttons (1 per side and 1 per corner) which have a background image corresponding to their position on the form. But it requires to much CPU when I resize the window (and need a lot of code lines to works ) So, I want to know if their is a way to create a border style (and maybe to add it in the Form.FormBorderStyle enum) to make it easily tranparent, etc.
View 3 RepliesI'm currently working on an application that I'd really like to be able to have a custom form border. I have it set up right now that the close, minimise and maximise buttons work, as well as moving it around. The issue however is that, although the movement is working, once it starts, it does not stop. So I can drag it around and it works perfectly, but if I want to stop dragging it around and click elsewhere, the form moves to the position from which it was being dragged.

I set my FormBorderStyle of my form to none.This is exactly what i want, except I ran into a problem.When the background is gray (background of other applications running in the background), my form tends to fade in with the background (Still active, but i cant see where my form starts or ends).

View 12 RepliesI am making a hangman style game in VB 2008 Express. I am a beginner and instead of making any graphic related content (i.e. the hang man), I am using a 3 strike system. So far, I am just about finished. Only problem is whenever I choose a letter that is incorrect, it adds 1 to the strike label. The problem is, the second time I choose an incorrect letter, the "1" does not change to 2! The line is as fallowed:

View 1 RepliesI have a problem in a vb.net windows application.I have a form with Sizable form border style. but i want to resize it only from TOP & BOTTOM. I have done the code for this.
But when i move the mouse on form's RIGHT & LEFT border, the mouse pointer gets changed to resize mode. When i drag it form size does not change. but when i try to resize it from LEFT whole form moved to LEFT. I do not need it.

1). I have a panel that is docked to the parent form so i can change the background colour of the parent form. (the background property doesn't seem to work on MDI parents).But my childforms appear underneath this panel, is there a way to make them appear on top of the panel? (i've tried using .topmost = true).

i am trying to make toolbars in VB that change their style according to the color scheme of your computer.if you don't know what i am talking about, look at the toolbars in IE, Firefox(with default theme), Notepad++ ect.i can use a boackround image for toolstrips, but they won't change for different OS's, i tried a toolbar control, but had the same theme problem and the buttons won't do anything?

I am using the FlatStyle properties to define it's look'n'feel. I've set the border to 0 but when the application loses focus, the border of the button shows up.I have tried to force the property to go 0 again when the application's "LostFocus" event is captured but doesn't work.I am also using a "rollover" method using MouseHover and MouseLeave events to change the image of the button.Using Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition.
