Properly Configuring .NET Combobox?

I need to put a combobox on a form that displays a list of customers.Each customer has a customer number and customer name.I figured out that VB.NET doesn't have multi-column combo boxes so to get around that I was going to query the data and put a tab between the customer number and name for the display members and have the value member be the customer number:
SELECT CustomerNumber AS ValueMember,
CustomerNumber + CHAR(9) + CustomerName AS DisplayMember
FROM Customers
ORDER BY CustomerNumber
This only works partially in that in the selected area of the combobox, the tab between the number and name shows but when you drop-down the combobox, the tab is not preserved.
Why there is no multi-column combobox native to VB.NET annoys me but that's whole other topic.Does anyone have any ideas for a solution to this problem that doesn't involve getting a third-party control?

I am having issues with a combobox set to:
AutoCompleteMode = Append, AutoCompleteSource = ListItems.
Example: Items in the combo are: "Average", "Good", "Poor". If "Average" is selected in the combo, then I type "G", "Good" will autocomplete. But if "Average" is selected, tab out of the control, then tab back into the control, then I type "A" nothing is autocompleted. It just shows "A" in the combo.

I'm trying to use a TableLayoutPanel to align a few controls on a form next to their labels like so:
Label1 [combobox ]
LongerLabel [longer combobox]
But when I run the project and grab the right hand side of the form and shrink the form, the combobox doesn't resize, it gets cut off... Now, I were to not use the TableLayoutPanel, but just anchor a combobox to a form's edges, it will resize properly. What am I doing wrong with the TableLayoutPanel?

The problem is that when one navigates the combobox via the keyboard, the combobox's information doesn't update. If you click a value with your mouse, though, everything works wonderfully. The link I've mentioned suggests changing the binding from the Text property to the SelectedItem property. I'm very deep into this project and it would be a bit of a nuisance to change the setup so as to allow it to be bound to the SelectedItem property.What I'm wondering is whether or not I can detect the user changing the selected entry in the combobox and tell VB that they "clicked" the value, if that makes any sense.

For some reason, even though in the sitemap, the url is defined as "[URL]" or "home.aspx", the currentNode.URL always has the domain attached to the URL, creating bad urls like "[URL]" I've tried to figure out where [URL] was coming from by search my project and inside of my web.config file, but I can't seem to find it.

My vb2008 project is connected ["PROVIDER=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source = C:MyProductMyInvest.mdb"]to an access database. The numerous searches and filters are sql select coded. The database has been added using the Data Source Configuration Wizard. My problem is when published and loaded on another machine it fails due to being unable to locate the database. I have tried the configuration alternative of making a copy and not.

I've been messing around with my Sql Server all day and i still cant get a remote computer to connect to it. I've looked at various resources but really, i don't know where to properly look.
I've configured my Sql Server Express 2005 from the Sql Server Configuration Manger:
- Started Server Browser
- Enabled TCP/IP
- Changed my Sql Server Properties to Network Service
Then for my connection string in Visual Studio using VB.NET is:
ConnectionString = "Integrated Security=SSPI;" + "Initial Catalog=mydb;" + "Data Source=VAIOSQLEXPRESS;"
I am unsure about my connection string especially my Data Source. May someone tell me how to find my Data source? Or if there is anything I'm missing?

I been working on a Printer INK Management Program for my Company. We have many different districts we deal with. I am looking for a code snippet which opens a image, creates a clone of this bitmap in memory disposes this opened image so that all handles are closed.
Usually we can open a bitmap using this[code...]
the following code however keeps the Image File locked until the application is running, any suggestions how to dispose it properly. (So that no handle is left open )
Things i already tried: use dispose method of bitmap <= doesnt work (need to write implementation)
Using Block also doesnt work.

I have 2 tables Table A & Table B Table A has the table values that I want to be populated in a datagridview control.The challenge is that column 1 in table A contains an ID(foreign key) to a name field that is a located in table B. I need the datagrid to have the first column be a combobox that displays the names(from Table B) that are already in table A via the ID's, but reference the populating values from Table B. So that when you bring down the combobox you would be choosing from Table B data but populating table A with the ID and you would see a name there instead of an ID.[code] How do I populate my DS dataset with Table B? I have a tab control application, each tab loads a particular user control and each of those user controls will then add other user controls that are used amongst other the user controls. For example, I have an "ucQuotes" page and an "ucInventory" page, when the specific tab is selected, the "uc****" user control is loaded on that page, and in the case of "ucQuotes" and "ucInventory" they both use a control called "ucPartNumber"; a user control consisting of a combobox, textbox, and button. I have no issues reusing the shared user controls, in this case. My problem arises with my "ucQuickPrice" control, as it is always present at the bottom of the tab control form (separate from the tabcontrol, but on the same form), and it too uses ucPartnumber.
Here's my issue, as I type into the ucPartnumber combobox, the text I type does not appear in the combobox, it appears in the textbox of the ucPartnumber control that is being used on the tabcontrol page. There are no shared instances of ucPartNumber, nor do I have this issue between typing on one tab page and the text showing on the user control of another tab page.I tried just creating the ucPartNumber controls on the ucQuickPrice control, not adding a new instance of ucPartnumber on the .Load event, and the issue persists.
The combobox(s) in question are bound programmatically with about 40,000 items, ".datasource = dataset.tablename" not to a bindingsource. Autocomplete is set to none, I added code to utilize tool tips and the basic combobox filtering functionality. Is this a bug, or is there something I'm neglecting? I'm about 95% complete with this application, and this just happened today. I made the decision, to just reuse the ucPartNumber control on the ucQuickPrice control (originallly it's size and orientation would not fit, but I added some coding to detect what parent is adding ucPartNumber and to change its appearance accordingly). Before, I made this change, I did not have this problem. And, in trying to go back to how I had things set up before the change, the problem will not go away. if the whole control within a control verbage I used is a bit confusing, let me know and I'll try to better explain what is happening. At this point, I'm going to close and reopen vbexpress, as when I started this ordeal, vb started acting weird and wanted me to save all my work, it usually does this before locking up.

I am new to vb.net and I am using visual studio 2010. I have two comboboxes on a form, each combobox is set to DropDownList so that a list of items can show in the combobox, but no text is allowed to be entered.
For combobox A, if user chooses item 1, the list of combobox B should be updated accordingly. I think this is quite common on a lot of applications. But I do not know to implement it. I even do not know the keyword to search for the relevant property or event handler.

I am making a custom ComboBox, inherited from Winforms' standard ComboBox. For my custom ComboBox, I set DrawMode to OwnerDrawFixed and DropDownStyle to DropDownList. Then I write my own OnDrawItem method. But I ended up like this:
How do I make my Custom ComboBox to look like the Standard one?
Update 1: ButtonRenderer After searching all around, I found the ButtonRenderer class. It provides a DrawButton static/shared method which -- as the name implies -- draws the proper 3D button. I'm experimenting with it now.
Update 2: What overwrites my control?I tried using the Graphics properties of various objects I can think of, but I always fail. Finally, I tried the Graphics of the form, and apparently something is overwriting my button.

Use the And operator to write the if-statement�s condition.What I don't understand is how am I supposed to use the 'And' operator so that when I insert a number between 32-16384 in the text box it'll allow it to go through and at the same time not allow any numbers lower than 32(lower_bound) and higher than 16384(upper_bound) to go through.I've use the 'Or' operator and that was simple, but with 'And' I'm not understanding it.Remember it has to be with the 'AND' operator.
