I wanted to add to my program a way to write and recieve emails through Gmail and others like it. I can already write the emails through SMTP and works great. But after hours of forum reading and searching google I have yet to find a way to read my emails through my program. Is SMTP able to do this? If not is there another way?

I am suppose to make a form with a recieve, ship, value, and exit button. You are suppose to be able to click a button an input box comes up and whatever your put in there is suppose to show up in the text box and whatever number you put in is suppose to keep adding to textbox. I`m trying to find out the steps needed to achieve that, i`m i correct?
1) i need to find a PIC that is suitable for my project (to handle wireless motion sensors)?
2) I need to write the code for the PIC? (does the manufacture of the PIC provides an environment to write the assembly language?)
3) Then i need to write the vb code?
4) Finally to use a serial port to create a communication between VB and PIC. Also are their any all ready made PIC`s that can support VB code direct without the need of writing the assembly code?

View 2 RepliesI just wanted to know if visual basic 6.0 or Visual Basic 2010 can be programmed to create a system that uses both smart card reader and sensors (photoelectric sensors) and be recorded their information into a information management database for date and time log.
Example:
1. A personnel will have to tag their smart card to the smart card reader. It will then be checked from the database and approved if their record is available in the database.
2. He will then have the access to enter and take a particular stuff from a rack (which has the sensor) guarding on each item on the rack. If the personnel take the item. It will then be logged into the database for the 1. personnel I.D, 2. item position on the rack, 3. time and date when the item is collected.
Question:
1. What hardware are needed to incorporate all this (smart card reader and sensors to database)? a controller perhaps? terminal for all the sensors?
2. What software to create the information management database so an authorized personnel may check the event history? also software to incorporate with the sensors? will it have to be on separate software or all can be done in the package given in VB6 or VB2010 or an additional software to be used?
3. Does MSComm Control have any relevance on this subject? All i know is what it does (vaguely) and no idea how to implement it.

This program is being used to analyze an excel document with coordinates for a robot. The entire program works...My boss indicated he wanted me to throw an exception in whenever a coordinate that wasn't being given a tolerance wasn't supposed to move, he wanted the program to give an error message. Which I figured out and outputs a message box saying "Result Compare Fail!"
Now here is my dilemma..whenever I encounter a section in the excel sheet analyzing multiple variables, I still get the error message, because the program doesn't think of it as multiple variable coordinates changing. Is there an easy way to fix this? I'm stumped! This is one of the cases, but they are all very similar.

I don't really know why it keep displaying the messagebox that says it failed when I have input the valid strings in the first place.
I am writing a calculator app in VB Express 2008. I'm trying to get the app to accept numeric and operator input while ignoring all the alpha input. In other words taking input from the numeric keypad and the top of the keyboard and ignoring all the letters.

I cannot figure out how to incorporate the number of days into the input box then get it to loop and count the number of times the User inputs in the number of days. Then I have to incorporate it into the equation to get the total distance D = MPH * Hours. What I have right now wil not count up the number of days and locks up after I input one number and will not add anything to the listbox. Because I also have to make sure that they cant add nonnumaric values and the number of hours per day cannot exceed 20. I have put things in and taken them out but it has been 2 days and I am lost now

I've been working on some code to add together input from an input box to make a string and display it in a message box. I've put the code in a loop so that it will add all input into the string until nothing is entered in the input box.

Basically, I'm new with coding, so I decided to work with Minecraft - specific a Minecraft Server Starter. It has a built in text box to display all the stuff that the console would normally display and an input tetbox to use commands.I have it so you can either use the Normal Minecraft Server or a Bukkit server. Basically, when I run minecraft.jar it works perfectly, I get the Output from the console and I can input commands.When I use craftbukkit.jar (bukkit) I get the Output of the console fine, but I can't input any commands... I can't figure out why it's doing this!

I have a form set up where users can enter their booking for a room at my college. I want to validate the user input to avoid SQL injection (my program uses a MS Access database) and also stop numbers and synbols in their name, etc.I can do the validation fine, but there is to be a lot of validation and then methods executed only if all validation tests come back as true. I did have something like this:

And then check the fail variable, but it obviously gets overridden later in the form if one of the validation tests come back as true.
