Aug 4, 2009I've spent several hours reading through posts trying to make a data refresh/reload work and I can't.After adding a new record to the underlying table (using MSSQL) I need the datasource for that table to show this new record. My understanding is that using BindingSource.ResetBindings(False) is supposed to fetch a ew set of records and also update any control bound to it (ie ComboBox).Neither of this is happening. The new record is not there when using the navigator. The ComboBox does not show the new values either.It seems that this would be a simple basic command in VB, alas, I can't find a way to do this cleanly.I'm using SQLSERVER 2005 and VB.NET 2005. Controls are all bound to datasources...

Mar 2, 2011I have several labels that bind to my query adapter and I need to update (not TO the database but FROM the database) as data changes on database by another application.I only need to either check data on my database that changed or reload the data.I'm using data set, table adapters and tableadapter.queryadapter to query data (tantalization) from my database.all I want is to refresh/ update this values on my controls in my windows form I'm using VB.NET on VS2010.

List View Losing Images On Refresh?
Dec 15, 2011My application uses a list view that populates with images from files. The items in the list can be edited by the user including updating the menu images but when that happens the list view loses all it's images and won't reload them without re-booting the application.Here's a screen shot of my list view when you first start up the app Screeshot1 ..which is correct. and here is the code that loads the images (lvBinSelect is the list view in question)..

picBinSave and picMenuSave are the image boxes on the second tab you see in the last screen shot that previews the images. These refresh perfectly on updating.Now as you can see it calls the UpdateCalcPicList function again after clearing the list view which should in theory repopulate the list view with the updated images.But All I get is this after a user has changed an image and they go back to the first tab....The images are loading back into teh list view. The only way to get them back is to restart the application and it's fine again and load with the new image the user changed to. I have had to use 'Application.Restart()' after the change is made as a workwround but this is obviously not ideal.
C# - DataGridView WinForms Auto Reload/Update/Refresh?
Feb 16, 2012I have a windows form with a DataGridView control.I bound it into an attached DB file (.mdf).I perform insertion by generating a dynamic Insert statement. I then pump this sql statement into a SqlCommand object and perform ExecuteNonQuery() method. All of these is performed by handling a Button click event. The button and the gridview is located on the same form.

After the code execution, the DataGridView is not updating (remains intact). I have to exit the form and reload it to have the updated gridview.For certain reasons, I can't use DataTable object.But I would like to have this gridview updated everytime I run the insertion.

Dec 23, 2011I need to call again my gameplay form after finishing 1 stage. I'm just doing the normal calling. Me.Close() then Object.Show(). (Object is the object of gameplay form). The problem is, there is a continous loop of the form its flashing. It's like it's showing then closing again ang again non stop. What should I do? Or is there another way of calling again my gameplay form?

Oct 9, 2010First let me start off by saying that I have dealt with Winsock for MANY years and am attempting to convert my project over from vb6 to VB.Net.This program was made to handle up to 70 connections at a time and constantly sending data from Server to clients and back.
There is one packet however, that reaches up to be around 177kb when sent. The sockets are set up to sent 1kb at a time.... (No other packet actually uses the whole kb). It seems that after the server sends this large packet... the client receives the data out of order. After debugging and monitoring I find that it normally happens between 3-4kb. While the first 3 are good and in order.My question is, is there a different system I should use instead of just Sockets (I have had similar problems with TCPClient) and/or can someone maybe link me to a sample project that would not have this error?

Nov 30, 2009I have three forms frmStudent, frmClass and frmMain. I want to add code so that if the user focuses on another form without saving a message box will appear to prompt the user to save. This is necessary because If the user starts entering data on another, related formand assumes that the changes from the first form were saved, then there could be integrity issues.
I have tried formating the deactivate event, but when I hit yes it just deletes the record entered.

Aug 23, 2010I've created a small form that acts like the office notifications (fades inout above the notification icon tray)I'm having problems showing this form, I want to display it without the focus being taken from my main application (or any other form), I've managed to get the attached code doing roughly this, (using Me.Activate to take back focus) But this isn't great - focus switches for an instant plus I want to show the form from various areas in my application...
