I have a small project which I want to add a different text at the beginning and the ending of each line in a multiline text box.I've tried this, But It only let me to add it at the beginning ( because I don't know the length of each line And also I have to write a code for each line which is very hard because the text box may contains 200 lines Dim lines() As String = TextBox1.Lines lines(0) = lines(0).Insert(0, "Hello World")TextBox1.Lines = lines I want for all lines without having to repeat it again for each line
View 7 RepliesI'm reading a text file with StreamReader, line by line. If a condition is met, then I do an operation and then start reading the file again from the first line. I realize I could close and then re-open the file, but surely this would be very slow.
I could do this easily in VB6, but pulling my hair out trying to do this in vB.net. It seems that 'Seek' is the function to use, but it doesn't work.
I've seen other examples, where it works, but you must open it a different way -- with a file number.
Imports System.IO
Dim I as Integer
Dim LineText as String

I have a listbox where each line contains a short 3-4 character model number followed by a tab and then the product name the model number corresponds to. I also have a textbox which I am using to search the listbox.
The code I am using so far works somewhat, just not exactly how I would like. If I enter search text it will highlight the results in the listbox but only for the first characters, is there anyway to search the text of an entire line (index) of a listbox?
Right now I am using the following:
Private Sub txtSearch_TextChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles txtSearch.TextChanged
ListBox.SelectedIndex = ListBox.FindString(txtSearch.Text)
End Sub
I'm currently building a Terminal Emulator and can read RS232 data ok into a Textbox.
However, I want to remove a set number of characters before each line received.
I've got so far with StringBuilder but my code is wrong somewhere as it cuts out every other line.
The original text looks like this:W 320:15:25 0300 SAMPLE FLOW WARN
T 320:15:25 0300 CO= 4.6 PPM
T 320:15:25 0300 RANGE=50 PPM
T 320:15:25 0300 STABIL= 0.0 PPM
T 320:15:25 0300 CO MEAS=4012.0 MV
T 320:15:25 0300 CO REF=3457.3 MV

I am supposed to create a program in my VB.net class to do the following:
1. Prompt the user to enter the beginning number and the ending number.
2. Find the sum of the even numbers between these two values, inclusive.
[Code]...
We are currently using for next statements in the class. I know how to prompt for and utilize the numbers that are input etc. My problem is the EVEN numbers part. I obviously have to determine if the number is even and then use a step value of 2 from there. But not sure how to determine if number is even or odd (guessing to use mod, but totally lost).
I am wounder if anyone might have a web site or no where I can find the information so I understand how to prompt the user to enter the beginning number and the ending number. And then to find the sum of the even number. Now does anyone know what a name convention is ? I have tried to look it up on the forums but cant find nothing on it.

Somehow a space or character has been introduced at the beginning of the strong as per the text in quotes below. I tried a Trim(" ",
" 10.0.110.37"
"" & vbLf & "10.0.110.37" this is what I see when clicking on Edit Value in Quickwatch

View 8 RepliesI have created an XML file using streamWriter.. Now, i want to remove the line breaks in my XML file.. Is there a way to accomplish this task.
[Code]...
I know there's ton of examples on the forum but i could not get it to work the way i want.
Sample CSV :-
Unused,172.22.21.2,SD103001
Unused,172.22.21.3,SD103002
Unused,172.22.21.4,SD103003
And what i wana do is change the Unused to Used so basically once this is done it will look like.
Used,172.22.21.2,SD103001
Unused,172.22.21.3,SD103002
Unused,172.22.21.4,SD103003
One thing to mention is i dont want to loop through the whole file and change all the Unused to Used. So basically software fires up opens the file and looks for Unused and changes it to Used and does the rest of the function and shuts down. Next time the software is fired up it goes through and does the same thing.

I currently have a bunch of text files I need to edit in a folder, I need to edit each file and remove the same line but not all files have this line, so I need to create a script that needs to check if the line exists then remove it.I have 1000s of files, that's why I need help to be able to create a script that does it for me instead of me editing each one manually.I am not sure on how to do this, but I am sure it is not difficult for people that have good experience with VB.net.
