how can i get the number of spaces in the beginning of each line before a word..following code is just for example reasons, not to be misunderstood for code that needs to be fixed.
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
If Clipboard.GetDataObject.GetDataPresent(DataFormats.Text) Then
RichTextBox1.Paste()
RichTextBox2.Paste()
End If
End Sub
I'm reading a text file with StreamReader, line by line. If a condition is met, then I do an operation and then start reading the file again from the first line. I realize I could close and then re-open the file, but surely this would be very slow.
I could do this easily in VB6, but pulling my hair out trying to do this in vB.net. It seems that 'Seek' is the function to use, but it doesn't work.
I've seen other examples, where it works, but you must open it a different way -- with a file number.
Imports System.IO Dim I as Integer Dim LineText as String
I have a small project which I want to add a different text at the beginning and the ending of each line in a multiline text box.I've tried this, But It only let me to add it at the beginning ( because I don't know the length of each line And also I have to write a code for each line which is very hard because the text box may contains 200 lines Dim lines() As String = TextBox1.Lines lines(0) = lines(0).Insert(0, "Hello World")TextBox1.Lines = lines I want for all lines without having to repeat it again for each line
I have a listbox where each line contains a short 3-4 character model number followed by a tab and then the product name the model number corresponds to. I also have a textbox which I am using to search the listbox.
The code I am using so far works somewhat, just not exactly how I would like. If I enter search text it will highlight the results in the listbox but only for the first characters, is there anyway to search the text of an entire line (index) of a listbox?
Right now I am using the following:
Private Sub txtSearch_TextChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles txtSearch.TextChanged ListBox.SelectedIndex = ListBox.FindString(txtSearch.Text) End Sub
I made the labels red so you can see them. I used a picture of a little mug as bullet, aligned top-left. The label text normaly begins at the far left of the label, but with a bit of coding I solved that problem. I did not want to add extra spaces to the text directly for keeping the data base small. The problem however is when the label has 2 or more lines of text the text don't line up nicely with the top line, once again I no not want to save the extra spaces to the data base.
Here is the picture and the code used.
CheckLabel.DataBindings.Add("text", Hoof_GeregteBindingSource, ("Inhoud" & (Inhoud_Label_Counter).ToString)) Dim MyVar As String = CheckLabel.Text MyVar = MyVar.Substring(MyVar.IndexOf("#") + 1) Select Case CheckLabel.Text.Substring(0, 1)
I have this program that outputs all the servers on a specific game. It outputs it to a text file. However, There is a lot of annoying spaces. This is kind of hard to explain, so I'll try to explain it. This is what The text file looks like.
As you can see, they have these annoying spaces. What I want to do: 1. Get rid of the spaces, But keep the space between the IP and the Port. 2. After the spaces that are bad are gone, I want the program to output each single IP AND port To its own text Box. It doesn't matter is the textbox of the IP and Port are seperated, It can just be one textbox with the IP and port, with a space between them. Thats about it!! I have the GUI done, and the rest of the programming, all I need now is this. Reformat without spaces > output each seperate line of text to a seperate textbox > TYTYTYTY
Is there a way for VB to send a command to the command prompt? Say, I wanted it to open a CMD box and send ipconfig into that box, what would that be?

I am still learning VB and operating VB 2005 for school. Challenging issue recently arose and would like advice from someone smarter than I .... When writing code to query several elements from a user, such as: Street number, street name, city, state, zip ... all posed as individual response questions. I want the ultimate displayed answer to show in a single line. When I write to code for that, I get the response in a single line, but they are all jammed together in the cout result screen display, with no spaces between answers (e.g. 2118Winona AveMontgomeryAlabama36102). I want a blank space to display between elements (e.g. 2118 Winona Ave Montgomery Alabama 36102). How do I cause the result line to include spaces?

i have designed a form that generates e-mails for outlook. the form has a textbox which allows the user to write extra notes. these notes are then added to the e-mail body at the end.
here is the issue, suppose the user wants to enter the following as extra notes.but when i actually add this to the end of the e-mail body i get something like this
"Please send us a replyyours truly, user" i has similar issues when i was generating the e-mail body as i was not using the default SMTP client server but some other methods to generate the e-mail
i know how to make the characters come to the next line, but i do not know how can i determine when the user has moved to the next line is there a way to determine this, and if there is how can i replace it with this character " %0d%0A"
I'm writing a text editor for my own use ( I'm "home learning") where I want to be able to leave comments for myself, like in code section of the VB express IDE. I have figured out how to get the Integer Location of the apostrophy, but can't get it to color the rest of the line. I don't know how to tell the program to find the integer value of the last character in the line. I need that to be able to subtract the apostrophy's location from the last character's location, to get the "SelectedLength". Then I can add that to the apstrophy's location to give the SelectedLength the SelectionColor. This code was thrown together from excerpts of several codes I found on the web. I had to rewrite everything to get it to do what it does so far...
Apostrophy Location is char # 534 , the end of the line is 547. ( I cheated to get that count by placing another apostrophy there, and reclicking the btn. )Anyway, I want to take 547 - 534 to get (13) the SelectionLength, then give the SelectionColor ( green) to that selected text.
[CODE] Dim Location As Integer Dim char3() As String = {"'"} Dim z As Integer = CStr(vbCrLf.Count)
I just changed a control on a form from a masked textbox to a normal textbox because I wrote my own code to validate the data. I'm trying to clear the leading spaces that were created for this column in an Access database using the LTrim function and it doesn't work for some reason. The column is " :30" in the table and when I LTrim it and save the changes, it's still " :30" , not ":30". Is that leading entry not a space character?
I'm creating a type of drawing program. The user can draw a line, much like in word or paint, etc. But once the line is drawn (to a picturebox or bitmap in memory), I want the user to be able to click on the line and drag it around (translate it).
If I know the coordinates of the endpoints of the line, as well as the pen width it was drawn with, how can I tell if a certain coordinate (mouse location) is contained by the line?
My first thought was to take a mathematical approach, like get an equation for a line, and check to see if the coordinate belonged to it. But for a higher pen width, the line is thicker, and thus contains more points.
How can I tell what coordinates are part of the line? Is there some sort of intersect function in the gdi that takes a line?
how do i determine if the current listview line is selected or not?
Private Sub lst_DrawItem(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DrawItemEventArgs) Handles lst.DrawItem If lst.Items(e.Index).selected = True Then
I have created a vb.net program and released it to the customer. They are running the exe and at times the program crashes unexpectedly and display the message: "... has encountered a problem and needs to close" I know I should have added code to handle the exception, but is there a way that I can find out which line in the program caused the error? What is generally as good way to track errors in a program after it has been released?
When I exit the programme and start it again the checkbox selection from the previously job gets lost. After starting there is not a problem until I exit and start the programme again.
DnsGetHostEntry takes an IPaddress as an argument but the one I'm supplying it while debugging is throwing an exception of "No such host is known" when I know that this is a perfectly valid host.
Somehow a space or character has been introduced at the beginning of the strong as per the text in quotes below. I tried a Trim(" ",
" 10.0.110.37" "" & vbLf & "10.0.110.37" this is what I see when clicking on Edit Value in Quickwatch
I have an VB.NET app that writes the status to a log file in text format. Over time, the file is getting large and I wanted to know if there is an efficient way to truncate the beginning of the file.
To make things easier, I am looking to specify a file size (say 2-3 mb) and I am writing the log using a StreamWriter:
Using strm As New IO.StreamWriter(filelocation.log, True) strm.WriteLine("msg to write") strm.Close() End Using
I thought about using the strm.BaseStream.Length to determine how much of the file to cut off, but by using the .SetLength it would cut from the end - not the desired result.
All appears well, except for the zip codes that begin with a zero. I'm using a case statement to verify the zone, but VS2010, helpful as it is, removes the the lead zeros, after which said zip codes won't verify.strZip is put in through a text box, and a debug.writeline will tell me that VS stores it correctly, with the leading zeros. But when I get to the Case statement, it just will not let me look for a zero initiated number. I felt I was doing well by going with a string rather than something more numerical, but that apparently isn't enough.
Excerpt: dim strZip as string Select Case strZip[code]....
Im trying to create a new file at the begining of each month, and stay active for the rest of the month by adding the textbox info to it every time someone presses the Next or Exit button. Next and Exit button update the files Im not sure would it be easier to get the info across to Excel or sql server, but i woudlnt know how to do that, if that would be easiers.Aim of the what im doing, person logs button presses with the text files logging the number of presses of each of the buttons. then at the end of the session or when the user moves to the next item to be logged the files then save the counted section. need to it log everything for the month. Just trying to get the info into sqlserver 2008 as im logging each job as well.
If Me.DateTimePicker1.Text = "# october 2009" Then ' logging the monthly total Using SW As New System.IO.StreamWriter(faultsfile) SW.WriteLine(TextBox10.Text)
I've done a customer register in a win form app. and I need to be able to search for a customer fast. If I have more than 100 customers I'd be spending all day to find the right customer by using the previous and next buttons, so I want to have a textbox and a search button. If I write for example just an "A", I want my program to show all customers beginning with an "A". If I write "AN" I want my program to show all customers beginning with "AN".
Im trying to remove all text before "Informations here" this is what i currently have.
dim mychar as char () = {"<"c, "s"c, "p"c, "a"c, '....thatandlike20moretill.... "e"c, """"c} string1 = string1.TrimStart(mychar)
(Note that each letter or symbol inbetween the quotations is a part of the string (span = "s" "p"...)Now this works. Not all the time though and its a pain in the .. having to do "letter"c, all the time.. (I got over 10 strings lol) Im wondering if theres a way easier method to remove part of string from the beginning, maybe like still a certen part of the length..
