View 1 RepliesTypical problem, but I've done everything I can possibly think of to get this to work. I set the NETWORK SERVICE and ASPNET accounts to FULL CONTROL on my PC. I'm using the built-in Cassini web server to test my application, with no luck. I even tried to make a folder outside of the APP_DATA folder, and is still says Access is Denied.

I have vb .net windows form application that I want to connect to Microsoft access database using "Microsoft DAO 3.6 object library". My problem is that when I go to Project tab -> Add reference -> COM tab, there should have been "Microsoft DAO 3.6 Object Library" on the list, but for some reason It's not on the list. Then I googled, and found out that the location of "DAO360.DLL" is "Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedDAO". After clicking on Browse tab, I browsed to that location, and I guess I added reference on another way.This is the code that I used before for connecting to Access, but for some reason It doesn't work this way on this PC.

-- listbox (bound to column 2/firstname)
-- Combo box (Has items added, with the same names as the items in colunm 3. so it has 'RPG' and 'Puzzle')
Now what im trying to do is when the item in the combobox is changed say to 'RPG' only items in the db which have 'RPG' in the surname column are displayed in the listbox. Been Google'ing and reading but all i can find is examples relating to a dataview and i cant get them to work/adapt to my situation.

View 3 RepliesI'm developing a program utilizing an Access database and Visual basic. I'm having a problem saving the data I'm adding to the database. I'm entering the data into the database table with text boxes and making a new row and adding it the the table:Database2DataSet.Tables("").Rows.Add(newRow)
I have a grid view for the table, and the new row is added to the table, showing that I'm getting the new information into the table. However, I'm trying to save this new information to the database so its there after I close the program. I've tried using the following but none have worked so far.

I am taking Computing at A Level and need to create a solution for a business.I have thought of my solution which is a log of all the cars that go out on test drive for my dads motor company, i have created a database in Microsoft Access and have saved it as the usual mdb file. i have then imported this into the project and would like to use it.I have created a login form which i would like to use along side the database in the sense i would like it to check when a user enters their name and password for those two things in the database and respond accordingly. I also have created forms in which employees would enter information and then click the submit button, i need this to then place the information into a database as records under the right headings.I have tried using the program and play about a bit but i just can't understand it easily, even when i search for help i have trouble understanding what it all means.If someone could help me that would be great cheersLongy1259

I'm attempting to create and populate a table in a new Microsoft Access (Jet) database using VB.Net 2008 Express under Windows XP Pro SP3. The database and table are being created properly, but loading the table proceeds VERY slowly. When I am loading the table, no complicating factors that might impact performance, such as indexes or table relationships have been defined. The table to be loaded is made up of relatively short rows consisting of three single byte columns, and one (four byte) integer column. I am loading approximately 16 million rows, and this is literally taking hours, while the same data can be interactively imported into Microsoft Access from a .csv file in minutes. I am trying to batch load the rows, 64K rows at a time, in order to avoid the overhead of individually transacting/committing each row individually, but suspect that I must not be doing something right. Key code that I am using for this process is provided below.

I'm using Visual Basic Express 2008 (VB.NEt). I've created a project which
connect to a Microsoft Access Database (OLEDB) & displays the records using textboxes in the windows app.
I need to add a button which exports the database to a fixed length text file. Does anyone know the code I would use to do this?
The 32 and 64-bit versions (of the ACE OLEDB Provider) have now been released to support Office 2010:
View 2 RepliesI am looking to select all the tables from a microsoft access database. I just need the SQL statement i think, i can connect to the database that is needed.
View 4 Repliesin the current project im making i've decided to add in some tools, 1 of which is a renamer based of a renamer app that already exists (called scdtoolz), i want to build my own version of it so i can learn some new things, and build a nice GUI version of it.[code]So what i have managed to determine is that the current app scans the folders contents for the CRC32 Checksum, and renames based of that, since the 456.bin's CRC32 Checksum was 2274F80B, and in the text file 2274F80B is found here 'WWF - Rage in the Cage (T-81015)(U)#2274F80B#'So now i have determined game identification is based of the CRC32 checksums, how would i go about coding a similar ap in vb.net?first i need to make the app scan a folder, but how to return crcchecksum? and then rename if check = XXXX? If MD4 sums are easier/simpler i can use those instead, im lookin at a few hash app sources now, so i think i can see how to get the md5 but not the crc32 yet, or how to rename the 2 files and folder based of the text file.
View 6 RepliesI encounter some problems when doing coding of backup file by copy and paste the database(Microsoft Access File) to another directory. Example, textbox1 will show the path of file that I want to backup, textbox2 will show the path I want to copy to. I need 1 button for browsing the file and another button for make confirmation of the path that I want to copy to.
View 2 RepliesI've installed the Microsoft Access Database Engine in order for an app to read and update and Excel file using OLEDB on a 64bit operating system. It all still works fine on 32 bit however i get a "Failure Creating File" error on a 64 bit machine.I'm using the following connectionstring(VB.Net) as per [URL]:
lstrConnectionString = "Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=C: empexcelfile.xlsx;Extended Properties=""Excel 12.0;HDR=YES"";"
I have a VB6 application which has been running succesfully for years under XP, however under Vista data loss has been observed.It appears that if the app is run 'as administrator' then it connects to the correct database file, however if the app. is not run as administrator then vista creates a copy of the database (no idea where) - hence I end up with 2 versions of the database.
In fact I can delete the database file entirely and the app. still works fine because vista is using it's own copy - the problem is how do I back up this 'vista copy' when I can't find it (search doesn't find it).
How do I save my dataset ,that is being filled in runtime, to a Microsoft Access database file (.mdb)?
View 3 RepliesOk so this is a well asked question , and ive tried more snippets fot it then i can count now and none are working, all seem to give an eoor at the same area, so heres the basics:I have a button, which when clicked brings up a save location dialog, then saves a .txt file, and i also want it to rename the folder were that .txt file was just saved, so heres the code on the button for the txt file:
''Saves the txt file of details
SaveFileDialog1.FileName = namefull.Text + " " + "(" + region.Text + ")" + "(" + serial.Text + ")" + " " + "(" + "v" + version.Text + ")"

View 1 RepliesWhat piece of code could determine if the new path does already exist, and if not , create a same? For instance on my form I have two TextBoxes i.e. TxtBx1 and TxtBx2.
TxtBx1 presents the complete path and name of an existing file like:
C:UsersFarazDocumentsOfficeTest1ABC.xlsx
TxtBx2 presents a new path and new name for the same like:
C:UsersFarazDocumentsHomeTest2XYZ.xlsx
If there already exists a path C:UsersFarazDocumentsHomeTest2 I want the Button BtnGo to simply move the file to the said folder and be renamed from ABC.xlsx to XYZ.xlsx. However, if such a new path doesn't exist at all, i.e. even there doesn't exist a folder like
C:UsersFarazDocumentsHome how to create the same via SHELL and MD and also a subfolder of
Test2 within the same and then move the file to the newly created path and finally being renamed?
Is it possible to rename a VB.Net 2005 Pro project folder?If I rename the folder then try to open the solution file it can't find any of the forms/modules, etc and there doesn't seem to be a way to rename it in vb itself.
